Between the aerial bombardment of London's east end and the thwarted alien invasion, I'd say this year has been a hard one on us all.

Was this before or after you lost your ship?

Before. They had come down into the land, it was a very harsh winter. They surprised us.

Did the aliens bomb the city?

It was a separate incident. Professor James Moriarity was behind the attack. It may sound perfectly mad to a citizen of 1608, but he had stolen a substance which allowed him to power a flying machine. I saw it with my own eyes.

[David is about to comment how mad that sounds to a citizen of 2006 but hey, he can appreciate the dedication? Why does Moriarty sound so familiar, he knows that name from somewhere...]

It is so hard to imagine. I have learned of flying vehicles from the future but not like that?

It was a formidable vehicle. Moreso, I dare say, than any you might have heard about in tales of air-pirates.

The technology is absolutely marvelous, but I can't say I care for its reliability. What good is a time-traveling device that takes men and women hostage?
