[log] bad decisions [closed]
Characters: Sherlock and House
Location: Building 68
Date: Evening/Night of 292
Summary: Arguments and a possible experiment
Warnings: Possible blood transfusions, overdosing, drugs, and assisted suicide
[Sherlock knows that Greg is on his way, though not when he will arrive exactly, but he hopes that it's soon. He's had his corpse dug out and ready for two days now, and he's had to remain awake for those entire two days in order to make sure that it doesn't disappear when he's not looking.
He's used to not sleeping on cases, but it's a bit different to not be sleeping because clues are being examined and not sleeping because of watching a corpse.
It's so dull. Hurry up, Greg.]

It's late in the morning when House arrives at Building 68. It's easy to spot the body and there's an immediate sensation of nausea and dizziness on entering the room.]
Looks like you two are having a good time. Sure you don't want me coming back later, Holmes?
no subject
Necrophilia jokes, really? Predictable.

[House sets down his pack and goes to examine the body, grimacing as the symptoms of acute MN Poisoning grow more pronounced with proximity. When he steps away, his nose is bleeding, and he has to pause for a moment.]
Definitely dead-dead.
So, let's cut to the chase. I'm gonna tell you this is stupid again. You're gonna list out reasons. I'm gonna refute them with logic that you'll try to wiggle around. And ultimately we'll agree you're doing this, regardless of what I think or do, you just might need to get someone else with a needle and fewer qualms. And we both know that's probably gonna be the Joker.
Now that that's out of the way... take off your coat and roll up your sleeve. Don't OD, yet. This is gonna hurt like hell, so let's see how you feel a pint and a half in.
[That's about the max he can safely take. It's going to be miserable for Sherlock and require something like 30 needle sticks at a minimum.]
no subject
You must have considered doing this yourself, and therefore have weighed the potential benefits, or you wouldn't be here. Having already assisted in more than one suicide for experimental purposes, I doubt you're eager to repeat the process, so you would only be here if you believe my experiment has merit.
[He presents his arm to Greg.]
Your protestations are to allow you to feel better, to be able to claim to yourself that you did all you could to stop me, rather than to actually dissuade me.
no subject
No. They let other people feel better about it. Knowing someone tried their very bestest to stop you. I don't get bitched at as much if I make an effort.
[There are a lot of reasons to be doing this, and House's tone is as sarcastic as it ever is, which he's hoping will make it harder for Sherlock to pick apart a true meaning for.]
You're also harshing my groove on the most deaths. You're not touching my record, Willy. Stop trying.
[House heads over to the corpse, grabs it be the ankle and drags it over to right next to Sherlock.]
no subject
[Greg is so full of it right now, but he doesn't mind because it means he's right. He's onto something here.]
Once this is done, you'll need to keep a close watch on my corpse to ensure it's the other corpse that's taken away first.
no subject
And like we already went over, you'd just get someone who's even more of a sadistic asshole than I am. [He's already worked out the defense he'll be using for the inevitable yelling.
House swabs over Sherlock's arm with some disinfectant and performs the first draw and injection.]
So, let's talk about you, Holmes? I'm boring. You, though. How obsessed are you with this thing? You got a contingency if you don't come back? Or is that why you waited for the wife to revive?
And what do you want me to tell them? What actually went down? Or that you OD'd while I wasn't looking in case it doesn't work.
no subject
You can tell them the truth about what we did, people should be aware to watch for a possible resident waking up. It would be utterly stupid if they revived and any potential for questioning was lost, simply because people were ignorant to be on the look out.
[He shrugs, one shouldered so as not to jostle the arm currently being used as a pincushion, though he is more bothered by how this will damage John and Mycroft than he lets on.]
I would advise you to avoid talking to John, however, he can be irrational about these things.
no subject
[He's already mentally ticking them off. Ecks is down by the hospital and can cover the police station, too, with Dorian's help. He's pretty sure Sylar can cover the new area. He'll need to double check if anyone is near the columbarium or send someone that way... Wilson, maybe. House has the church. He'll need to check where the Joker is.]
And your brother won't be irrational? The guy's obsessed with you.
[There's a steady march of drawing and injection now.]
no subject
The constant drawing of blood is making his arm ache viciously. He can't help but wonder idly how long it might be before his veins collapse.]
Mycroft is hardly a threat here, he hasn't got any resources to call on and he's less than useless in a physical confrontation.
no subject
Whatever. [So, he'll get murdered again. It's fine. It's always been fine. He's fine. House pauses on the next draw to wipe away a trickle of blood from his nose. He also has to fight down the urge to reach for a couple of his Vicodin. This would be a lot easier to deal with if he were just high.]
So what are we calling a success?
An actual resident turning up? You waking up in the wrong body? You waking up without a body? [Actually, if Sherlock woke up inside the server infrastructure, that would be incredibly useful. They could try this with one of the more tech savvy people, then.]
no subject
[The only pointless outcome would be if he revived as if nothing happened, that would be utterly disappointing.]

As long as my mind is in tact, it doesn't particularly matter. A body is just transport, after all.
no subject
[He finally pulls the bottle of pills from his pocket.]
Take these. Your veins are gonna collapse soon.
no subject
I’m flattered, but you should know that I consider myself married to my work.
[The pills are taken and swallowed without protest, he would rather not suffer unnecessarily. He only takes one for now, he might not want to suffer but he also doesn’t want to risk dying too quickly and ruining the experiment.]
no subject
I hear marriage is a killer these days.
Gimme your other arm.
[And just for good measure he'll add:]
So, was it heroin or cocaine? You seem more like an upper than a downer on injections. But track marks just say you were doing it, not what you were doing.
[The scars are small and faded, which says he's been clean in this body for a bit, at least.]
no subject
Both, depending what aspect of my mind I wished to enhance at the time.
[That's what he uses it for, after all, to highlight his natural abilities and augment them, not because he's in any way addicted to either substance.]
Most of the veins around my legs and groin are unaffected and perfectly viable for drawing blood, however.

Try to extract as much blood as possible before I die, I think speed is of the essence in tricking the revival system.
cw: discussion of drugs
Psychedelics, now those really 'free the mind.' Also an excellent cure for induced migraines. Just if you were ever needing something.
cw: discussion of drugs
[Because he definitely never hallucinates on his drugs of choice. Nope.]
cw: discussion of drugs
Not many cases here.
But plenty of things to chase them.
cw: discussion of drugs
I very rarely use drugs while I'm on a case, that's a large hole in your particular theory.
[Because he has the high he wants when he's on a case.]

[A case gives him that focus, that adrenaline. He says he uses it to enhance his thinking, but really it's a boredom cure.]
You have one more draw before that vein collapses.
[He knows his own body.]
cw: discussion of drugs
[To the part before that, House shrugs.]
Admitting you're an addict doesn't mean it's a problem. Bee tee dubs. It just means you're self-aware.
cw: discussion of drugs
[It's completely petty revenge for being called out, but Sherlock is going to take every pill remaining in that bottle so that there's none left for House.]
cw: discussion of drugs
You...
[Fury flares up. His. Those are his. The only pills he has. This means he has to go and catch up to freaking Strange again and beg him to continue the regiment. And they might be through the stepdown period by the time he can even reach Stephen. House stabs the needle through Sherlock's trousers, not even bothering with a vein, just going for the inner thigh near his groin, a place that should be particularly painful before the Vicodin kicks in and knocks him out.]
cw: discussion of drugs
He's still got a smug tilt to his lips when he slips unconscious, the huge overdose meaning it takes very little time for him to die after that.]
