I need the following things for an experiment into fighting off anomalies, and I am willing to trade:

- Springs or coils of metal that can be made into springs
- Screws
- Rubber bands
- Pipe plug or similar
- Lengths of piping

I have everything else I need.

and how do you know that the anomaly is going to show up at a distance
you know how quickly they can show up and be gone
remember when one snatched john up when you and clint and nat were all there
one grabbed karkat right in front of me a while back and me and the cat both died because we were close enough for it to knock us unconscious until after lockdown had started

Obviously I don't know, that's why I said ideally. If it comes close, it'll have to be tested at close range.

Better to try and hit it, than just die without fighting back.

like id be all for fighting these monsters if we could do it reliably but every other time someone has tried has wound up with them dead
and with everything else going wrong around here i dont think we can afford to go throwing people away on batshit gun experiments

You're acting like I'm going hunting anomalies for fun with a target on my head. I'm talking about building something and then when one inevitably attacks me or people I'm with, I can fire it off either from a distance or as I'm running away. It won't decrease my chance of survival, it might even increase it if it works.

If he gives it any thought, the cooler thing probably is to try to improvise the gun and shoot the things that come after them, and maybe it's more manly than just turning tail to run, but the thought still repels him. So many people have died against them already. He remembers Karkat, remembers the thing that looked like Terezi, remembers Jade as an anomaly coming after them, and John out in the snow when he was the monster—]

[It takes him a good few moments to draw his mind back to answer, but he puts on a filter before he does.]

you see those things and you have to run because one wrong move is one too many
and half the time they look like people we know
i know theres something wrong about them

We have a lot more efficient ways of killing each other than the effort of making a gun.

It probably won't kill an anomaly, I mostly want to see if I can hurt them enough to slow them down or make them drop someone they have hold of. And you know what I was, what I can do, I don't hesitate. I can run and shoot, it won't slow me down.

Sure.

There's risks to everything, but we'll just stand still if we argue everything into nothing with what if. I know weapons, and I wouldn't make one for just anyone, I think it's worth the risk to see if it could help.

[He hesitates, but this is Davesprite and he knows more than most.]

[He could go into it more, try to make it clearer that he doesn't want Bucky to carry the weight of not being able to save them, but it's just too much. Even now, the space of a few weeks isn't enough to make torture any easier to bear, and he's already dealt with one person refusing his efforts to help.]
