Summary: An overdue meeting to give House a bunch of stuff. Also, excessive shag carpeting and the removal thereof.
Warnings: Highly probable talk of drug addiction and torture in the trade thread with House. Other warnings applied on threads as needed.

309: A house, green on the Geiger counter, that probably should have been redecorated ages ago. Everything looks to be from the 60s or 70s, right down to the shag carpeting. There's even carpeting on the walls of the bedroom. It does make the room a little warmer, at least... There's a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The kitchen and bathroom aren't carpeted, at least. "зеленый" is written on the inside of the door.

(Until House tears the shag up, anyway.)

So it's the mania. [He moves to sit down on the sofa, but he leans on one arm, rather than against the backrest.] I'd offer to get you meds, but I'm not a vet, and Evie isn't talking. Could probably knock you out with some Vicodin. Even better than catnip.

[ If that's what House wants to call it, so be it. The Cat starts clawing at what's left of the floor. ]

There's no need. I have it under control.

[ By running! A lot!!! ]

Sure looks like it. When did it start?

Some two and a half months ago, perhaps.

Jesus. You must be fun to hang around. [He eyes the cat and he looks soft and warm. House isn't an animal person, in general. He likes rats, but that's about it. The Cat is more interesting than the idiot talking dog, though.]

Being pet help with it?

[ Not particularly. But it does lower his blood pressure, and he does enjoy it. ]

It helps some.

Good. Go ask one of the kids to pet you.

[He smirks at the cat.]

It is far easier simply to continue as I have been.

[ And if it annoys you, too bad. Naturally, he chooses this moment to begin racing around the room again. ]

[House watches him for about half a minute, then pulls out his penlight and flicks it on, shining the thin beam on the table where it forms a dot of light that he moves back and forth to catch the cat's attention.]

[ Once he catches sight of the light he makes a short sound of alarm and pounces on it. Maybe it's only mage fire, but that means he doesn't have to worry about hurting it. ]

[The light flicks away across the surface of the table, out of the cat's reach. It actually kind of hilarious to watch this. He settles for a satisfied smirk. Watch the kitty run.]

Fearsome, tiger.

[ He was so close! He rockets across the room after the light. Observe his masterful hunting skills!

It's a little weird though, the light doesn't look like a physical thing like mage fire. He can worry about that once he captures it, though. ]

[House will flick the light around the room for the next few minutes or until the cat stops.]

You know it's my penlight, right?

[ He looks up at the penlight. Yes, it's clear that's the source. ]

I am aware, but I'm not sure how it works.

Do you know what a flash light is? Artificial light of any kind?

Mages can often create light, or fire.

[ But that's a solid thing. ]

I'm a doctor, not a mage. [He flicks the penlight off and pats the sofa next to him.] Come here. I'll show you.

Many healers have the magical Gift.

[ He hops up on the couch, though. He would like to know more about this strange magic. ]

I'm not one of them. [House turns his tablet on and sets it up so that it's flat on the sofa and shining upward to show the penlight.] It's just electricity. There's a bulb in this end. [He points to one side.] You can unscrew the back to stick a battery in. Battery's are just portable electricity. That powers the bulb. I can turn it on and off with the switch here.

[ He inspect each spot House points out closely with both his eyes and his nose. It makes a kind of sense. Electricity might heat up the little wire he can see inside the bulb, making it glow like an iron in the fire. It's really very clever.

He sits back again and paws the switch. ]

How does the battery work?

Don't push my buttons, furball. [House holds the penlight up, dangling it above the cat's head.

He will, however, walk through a concise, but informative explanation of how a battery works, unscrewing the back of the penlight and actually pulling it out for the cat to examine as he points to the different parts and explains the circuit.]

[ He actually follows the explanation, too. A constellation understand much about the natural world that is mysterious to humans, especially humans from the equivalent of 5th century Europe. ]

Humans have come quite some way in your world. I am impressed.

Has anyone ever told you cats are super condescending?

[House returns the battery to the penlight and pockets it before reaching for the cat and stroking from his head down to his tail without preamble. He can't help it. It's a fuzzy animals and it's there to pet. Even House isn't immune after months of isolation.]

[ And the cat purrs. He considers this a fine compliment. ]

Naturally. It is our nature.

[The cat is being pulled into House's lap now, unless there are any strenuous objections or clawing.]
