Day 230 audio; @dreamsnhonor [cw: anomaly body horror]

Hey, Zack here. So, Enoch mentioned this earlier about our anomaly buddies coming around again.

Thing is... there's something off about all of this. Not only is the one that's been following me different?
But Zell and Kuns have been telling me they see 'em like a mess of something or other. You know, your typical anomalies. But for me and Jim, it's different. The anomalies almost look like someone we know. Just faceless.

[ It would have sounded crazy maybe six months ago. But right then, if anything, Zack just sounds tired as he makes note of that. That's before the video comes on to capture one of the anomalies in question. To those who've had their lights stolen, the anomaly looks like a young lady in her mid-teens. Innocent looking enough, right? Well- expect her face is gone as he mentioned.

Those who haven't had their light stolen will see something more akin to the Norfinbury flavored expectation. An oversized flower curls and spins, the leaves that remain with it red and curled almost like a bow behind it. The creature crawls along on multiple lithe hands with eyes running down the sides of them. They look worse and worse for wear the further down you look, black and cold with frost bite though only iced over with a blue hue. Sometimes Occasionally, the flower opens wide enough to reveal its center to be a mouth lined with tiny, sharp barbs for teeth. Typically when it seems to get off balance which also reveals what at first looks like to be a long braid behind it to be a set of roots that uncoil from one another and help balance it out.

Zack flicks the video back off with a frown.

I feel like we should do a tally of who's seeing what and maybe then we can figure things out from there. So, shoot me a message and let me know what you see. And if you have any theories, I'd like to hear 'em right about now.

[ He's just about to cut it off there when one last thought- if not a slightly distracted sounding one -occurs to him. ]

I'm also attaching an updated list of those who've been discovered and identified in the morgues, too. You can thank Davesprite for the help.

[ An attachment can be found along with this message. ]

( ooc: Durp. Slight edit in the brackets due to a reading error. This is why you don't read the new plot in the middle of the night. )

My task was to provide guidance and aid to a human man who had a vital role to play, as well as drive out whatever demons were bold enough to manifest in Earthly form. Both of these things would have been much harder if people caught fire whenever they looked directly at me.

[ He feels like he's explained this more times in the past few weeks than he's had to in the thousands of years preceding. It's not Dorian's fault, but he's a little snippy about it. ]

And coming to the physical plane was completely necessary? You couldn't have contacted your host and told him what needed to be done? Or would people who looked at him burst into flame regardless?

[Dorian approves of Castiel's sense of humor.]

You seem to understand better than most the threat demons pose. Would you have me send him up against them without aid?

Advice is helping. Jumping into someone's body and taking it away from their life, seems like an awfully big step. There is a middle ground.

Advice alone would not have granted him the strength he would have needed to defend himself and his family. It is regrettable, but sometimes sacrifices must be made in order to keep the peace. Do soldiers not leave their lives behind to defend their homelands in the world you come from?

If this were not something he was prepared to do, he could have refused at any time.

Typically we pay our soldiers. Most of them become soldiers in order to receive that pay, in fact.

There really was no way for you two to come to an arrangement where you stay on your plane and he stays on his unless danger is imminent? Wouldn't occupying his body while taking it other places leave his family in greater jeopardy since neither you nor he is there to look in on them?

[ There's a long pause before Castiel says anything else, as he's not really sure how to keep arguing with Dorian when everything he's saying is true. ]

Being called upon personally to act as an extension of the Lord's will was enough for him.

I don't have to explain myself to you.

[personal profile] whiteknightnecromancer 2017-06-03 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Would this have been enough for him if he'd known more about the situation than that you were a representative of the highest authority in his life and you were asking him to do something?

[Dorian is concerned. Very concerned.]

[ Castiel meant to stop responding here, but once again Dorian manages to find another point of guilt. ]

I explained the risks to him before he agreed. He knew that the world was at stake and that if he were to lose his life it would be in the process of saving not only his family but the whole of creation.

[ Or at least, that was what Castiel thought to be the case at the time. He'd also thought he could uphold his promise to protect Jimmy's family, and that he would be able to return him to them healthy and whole. He thought very wrong. ]

[Dorian sighs.]

Right.

[He thinks for a long moment but there's not much else to say to that when he's not ohysically present for Castiel's reaction.]

Well, let your host know I think he's a bleeding idiot and I'm sorry he's in such a mess.
