[ Steph has had what could easily be called A Day in just a few short hours in this strange space. She's escaped a number of pursuers mostly by virtue of not having a light anymore. Whatever that might mean in the long run, it seems to be helpful right now.

When she hears two pairs of footsteps and a strange crackling in the air, she isn't terrified. Just cautious, as she mentally goes over the path she took to get to this point. One hand stays firmly planted on the wall, her only guide. ]

[ The immediate response is laughter, distorted and echoing to the point where it sounds like there're more than just two people there. Two of the voices are definitely dominant, though. Two of the same voice.

Angel!Jack grins - in a sneering and thoroughly unpleasant manner, naturally - and takes a couple of steps towards Steph, peering into her face. She has no light, which sucks, but hey. Not like that means this is gonna be a complete bust, right? ]

Take a guess. You having some trouble there, kiddo?

[ Because if not, he's. Pretty sure they can provide some. They're generous like that. ]

[ Well, look who the cat dragged in! One of his very favorite people. He's sure she's just as happy to see them.

Not. Not literally, because of the whole eye th- but. Shut up. ]

Looks like she needs a helping hand! Good thing we showed up, ehh?

[ She knows that voice. How could she possible forget? ]

But you're not here. You can't be here.

[ She tries very hard to back away from the many Jack voices, but she can only go so fast. ]

I don't have a light anymore. I don't have anything you need.

Waahh, I don't have anything you neeeeeeed -- are - are you gettin' a load of this dum-dum?

[ He gives the other Jack an incredulous look, jerking his thumb at Steph. Like yeah, sure, bandits are dumb, but WOW. Wow. That's adorable. It makes him want to pat her on the head. Really hard. Enough to split her goddamn skull so he can take a selfie with the leftover goop and send it to the boyfriend. Imagine that being the first thing the guy comes back to when he revives! Hilarious. ]

You gotta admire that - that level of just. Abject stupidity. Holy crap.

[ The layered voice is especially pronounced, and Rhys!Jack seems to stumble. Just a bit. ]

But -- heh, I gotta give her credit for that self-awareness. At least she knows she's basically worthless.

[ Her heart sinks. Yeah, they're going to try to hurt her regardless. ]

Angel, right? And Rhys? Or do you not remember that anymore.

[phaseshifter]

[ The grin on AngelJack's face only gets wider and more hideous at the question. When he speaks again, his voice is Angel's - distorted, echoing, but hers. ]

Steph! It hurts - help me!

[ Then he doubles over in silent laughter before pulling a face at RhysJack and miming speech with his hand. He's betting she buys it! Especially if Rhys would care to double down. ]

[ Oh, hell yes. Rhys' voice is muffled, though still recognizably him. Muffled, strained, and panicked.]

It's STEPH? STEPH! Make it stop!He

[ That's tacky and cliche, but hey, so is Jack. If she comes towards them, even a little, she risks tripping or twisting an ankle on a sharp, surprise dip in the ground.

Yes, evil is petty. ]

[ Steph makes a face roughly in the direction of the ground five feet in front of her. Even if there's some truth to that, which she definitely doesn't know, there's nothing she can do about it.

She likes the wall. The wall is her friend. ]

Would you get on with it already? You know I can't run away, and I can't fight. The taunting is just kinda boring. Either do something or I'm walking away.

[ And she turns to do just that, very carefully. She may be terrified of what they plan to do to her, but that feeling isn't helpful. Once they get a hold of her, she's unconscious. At least she knows it won't hurt. ]
