[The running is too much. John gives chase, the instinct too strong to resist now. There's a pulse in his head, a voice whispering poison. When the Cat-Eyed Boy swings around the stairway, the hound tries to follow, claws scrabbling at the marble as he figures out what the hell he's even doing. He wastes precious seconds blinking and getting his bearings before the gravity reorientation settles itself in his head and he's off, howling after the boy.
There are rooms on the ceiling the boy might be able to get to, ones with openings that are too small for John's large frame to get through. Maybe if he can make it to one of those? But the hound is after him, ready to pounce at the first chance he gets.
