[ It's a very clear warning at least beyond the bells going off in the back of his mind. Hard not to make it any clearer, but she does when she starts grabbing roughly, trying to get an arm around him neck and that's going to be a no go, Steph. Not if he can help it as he frees one of his hands to go for one of her arms now that she's halfway ground bound while he ducks down to do away with what advantage she might have had with gravity at her side. ]

Steph, let go. [ His other hand's already sweeping away from her to deal with the other arm. If he has to, he's going to try to give one of them a good squeeze at one of the joints if it'll get her to give. ]

[ She's still aware to some extent of what she's doing. She just can't seem to stop herself. Knowing that it's Zack, someone she really kind of likes and would prefer not to kill, makes it easier to battle the instincts that make her a more effective fighter.

She tries to climb him, mostly flailing. Having one leg and no sight makes it very difficult to get her bearings. ]

Goddamnit, stupid freaking leg, I will get you!

[ She feels like a particularly inept monkey. ]

[ What makes it difficult for her right then Zack's taking full advantage of, himself. He's doing his best to try and keep peeling her hands off of himself as he tries to back away. At least she's no where near his neck now, but she will be again if he doesn't push her off before she gets far enough. Where she doesn't know exactly where she's grabbing, he can go off of feel and when she seems to be putting her weight into things, he tries to untangle her fingers from the fabric of his coat again.

But this time he's tilting sideways and trying to dump her onto the ground. ] Not this time!

[ She falls properly this time, sprawling on the ground face first. She tries to get up, but the moment she puts any weight on her right knee it sends a bolt of pain through her entire right side that makes her yelp.

She tries to grab for his leg on the ground, but by that time it's purely a matter of chance. ]

Dangit, don't just--- get back here! Fight like a man, damnit!

[ Says the girl laying on her stomach on the ground. ]

[ A big, big chance. And with Steph off of him and back on the ground, Zack's scrambling to make fast work of some distance between them. A scramble that does get him out of reach of her.

At least up until he hits some kind of wall behind him. With a curse, he starts to hurry along it as quickly and quietly as he can. It pains him to know she's hurting- but it'll be worse if she still manages to hurt him in the process of this. The guilt of hurting the people you care around this place or even attacking them... Best to minimize it if he can. ]

[ She tries to crawl after him, but once he gets far enough away the urge dissolves. She lays there on the ground, wondering what to do. She knows better than to call Zack back to her. No doubt she would just want to kill him again... or maybe he would want to kill her.

She calls out to the area at large. ]

Hello?

[ Finally she rolls over onto her back and stares miserably into the darkness. She has no way of knowing if any of the nearby lights are even in the same room as her. And if the monsters are? She's totally screwed.

Better not to know. ]
