For Frisk

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-02-20 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[When he sees Frisk, House almost turns away. He doesn't want to deal with a kid. It's bad enough they're even here in the first place. His mind is drawn back to Frisk's first arrival, though, traveling together with them, and what's more, the unnatural desire to protect at all costs is there. The doctor is drawn to the child. He knows they're blind and might go tripping off the edge of this Escher paining and into an upside-down waterfall or something.]

Give me your hand.

[No nonsense. He'll just use them to find monsters.]
despiteeverything: (strong enough to survive)

Dr. H?

[They can't see who it is, just the bright blue light of safety, like one of the stars they always found when they SAVEd. Voice they can do, though. Even if that voice makes an uncomfortable knot form in their stomach. And yet...

They can't see much, but they know what they have to do. They can't do much, but they can do this. They can help. Slowly their hand quests forward, unseeing, trying to find his.]

No. It's your conscience. I've gained a physical form and come to tell you you're way too much of a goody-two-shoes.

[He takes their hand and starts pulling Frisk along without preamble.]

You managed to wander into the rando-gravity water features level. Tell me when you see one of those things. We need to get the light.

My conscience wouldn't say that.

[Well look at that, Lutha's taught them to be even more contrary. For all their verbal riposte, though, they don't complain at all. Not even when they stumble into motion, having to jog a little to keep up with the pace he's setting.]

Can see 'em. Just... they're all over and they're walking weird. Like they're on walls 'n stuff.

[He did say that gravity was weird....]

Um... closest one is um. That way.

[They hope he can see where they're pointing with their free hand, because they sure can't.]

We haven't talked in a while. I've gone through a few changes.

[On the walls makes House pause and stare up for a moment, feeling very suddenly vulnerable. The fact the kid isn't screeching is probably a good sign, though. When he looks back down, Frisk is pointing off toward a wall where there's a tree growing sideways. Perfect.

House sighs and starts tugging the child in that direction.]

I'm getting really tied of bullshit mazes.
despiteeverything: (a long day)

[personal profile] despiteeverything 2017-02-22 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
You're a lot nicer, then.

[Their voice is quiet as they say that. The kind of quiet that one doesn't expect anyone to actually be listening, but still have something they want to say.

They're not so sure what to do about mazes, especially ones they can't see. Eventually they do speak up.]

Where are we going? [No, that's not a good question.] What does it look like?
rubikscomplex: (skeptic | but rly?)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-02-23 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
You're funny.

[It's good they change their question as House is about to mock them.]

It looks like you're pointing at a tree growing out of the side of a wall, which means we're in for a gravity shift. Ever seen an M.C. Escher painting? Impossible angles and architecture. That's this place.

[Frisk hums at his response.]

Wish I could see.

[Sounds... almost kind of like it could be fun. Like the Underground, in a way. A mishmash of possibilities that shouldn't be, but are. Though... they frown, watching the beast as it shuffled about, trying to figure where it's heading.]

You said... that way we're going, it's going to be down soon?

And if wishes were fishes, none of us would be starving. [It's a muttered sneer to himself. But the question has him glancing over at Frisk, a little surprised that they're thinking in those terms. Color him mildly impressed.]

Yeah. Get ready to push yourself up. [House pauses only briefly.] I'm taking it you're good at spatial reasoning.
despiteeverything: from "The Dogs of Future Past pt. 1" (Lots and lots of work to do)

[personal profile] despiteeverything 2017-02-28 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
I guess? [What's spatial reasoning.] You said gravity was gonna shift.

[And even if gravity wasn't one of the most basic scientific concepts, Toriel has definitely been keeping them up to date on their studies as best as she could. Both back home and here, while she was here.

That being said they brace themselves for the inevitable shift in what's down.]

[It comes after a few more steps, and they're suddenly falling sideways about five feet as gravity reorients itself. House pulls Frisk close, instinctively, and turns so that he takes the brunt of any impact. He grunts, but forces himself up after only a second or two, jerking the kid along. Given that he doesn't want to talk about that--House suspects a 'thank you' might be forthcoming--the doctor keeps leading them.]

Point toward whatever we're going after. I need to make sure we're still on the right course.
despiteeverything: (death by glamour)

[personal profile] despiteeverything 2017-03-02 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
[They're somewhat prepared for the fall they've had more than a few in their day. They're less prepared for House to take the brunt of it for them.

He may not give them the chance to thank him as they get to their feet, but there's still gratitude in their voice as they speak - after a moment to reorient themselves their previous quarry.]

Down that way.

[They do point downwards, a bit to their right.]

But it's like it's coming up, sorta.

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-03-03 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
[There's another little jerk on their arm as he adjusts course.]

Describe it. Tell me where the light it.
despiteeverything: from "The Dogs of Future Past pt.1" (kinda unsure tbh)

[personal profile] despiteeverything 2017-03-03 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
[They hesitate. Can he not see it? This must be why they had to work together.]

's tall. Got a lot of eyes. It's like it's... spinning, sorta. But the eyes are always watching us.

[Rotating would be a better word.]

There's a mouth on one side. It's spinning too, but the light's there.
rubikscomplex: (srs | considering)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-03-04 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Are we talking tornado spinning or something else? And how fast is it going?

[He really doesn't want to stick his hand in this thing's mouth. Like seriously. But Frisk doing it isn't an option.]
