[log] cut off one head [closed]

Characters: Bucky Barnes and Alexander Pierce
Location: Building 149
Date: Day 198, evening
Summary: Bucky finally runs into Pierce, they have words.
Warnings: Graphic violence, will add others if necessary.

[He doesn't want to move too far from the way out of downtown to the ice tunnels, it's his best bet for running into Pierce if the man is even still in this area. But he almost wishes he'd stayed back at the post office when he finds a table carved with a very specific Russian word.

Fury has him kicking the table into the wall until it breaks into chunks that he can pick up with one hand, only so that he can slam them into each other more and more until there's nothing but splinters remaining. He doesn't care about the mess he's making, only stopping when there's literally no trace of that word left. Covered in dust, he opens the door intending to brush off the worst of it before lockdown, when he sees a very familiar figure in the snow.

It's almost like a mirage at first, that he should show up at this moment.

But Bucky only wastes a single second before he's sprinting out into the snow with the aim of catching Pierce and dragging him back into the house before the doors lock. By his hair, if he has to.]

[It would be regretful if he had to die in order to make a point, but he would. That was always the extreme that he was willing to go, though he did what he could to avoid that. He was better alive, but in this place, the Soldier would lose him in the event of his death.

The bite of the scalpel was hot and probably deeper than it had any right to be. However, this was a surgical instrument and even dulled, it parted his flesh. He turned his face with the swing, taking the blade to the cheek. The well and fall of hot blood was obvious given the cold temperatures.

And good God, the Soldier was in serious need of some dental hygiene.]

Sorry, son, but I passed every single one of my psyche evaluations with SHIELD. Can you say the same thing, hmm? Release me. This is your final warning.

[And it was. Pierce could tell right away that the Soldier was consumed with an uncontrolled fear and that would drench any attempt at order there was. Fear and anger were the two emotions that managed to drown out most of the innate programming, overrode much of the years of necessary training and made the Soldier wild and dangerous.

It was why he did what he could to never put the Soldier in the position to experience those emotions. Except the Rogers incident, but that had been a test.

He ducked his head and instead lifted his knee to slam into the Soldier. It took him only two seconds to realize his options were limited, if not all but one now. So be it.]

[It was regrettable that it had some to this, but there was no choice in the matter. The shut-down word would be useless against a rampaging Soldier, and right now, they needed to go for calm and fixing matters between them. The Soldier would eventually have to realize he wasn't the man's enemy here, that their goals of escape and taking everyone with them was aligned.

When the fist was thrown, Pierce did the only thing he had left. He threw himself away from the wall to the side, landing hard on his shoulder but not for a moment stopping himself from speaking the words that were necessary for both of their survival.]

рассвет, печь, девять, доброкачественный!

[He twisted onto his back, watching the Soldier closely, his voice coming in a commanding rush.]

возвращение домой, один, грузовой автомобиль!

[The shift in the Soldier's stature, the change in expression, the lack of furthering attacks... Pierce couldn't do more than sigh and let his head fall against the floor, ignoring the blood that still flowed freely down his cheek.

What a shame that it came to this. They had been so much more once.

There was work to be done though, and he knew that laying in pain would not solve any of his current issues or plans. He needed to get into motion, which was precisely what he did as he rolled to his side and then to his knees.]

Sit. [He pointed at an overturned chair close to him and mopped up at the blood from his cheek.] Report on promises of protocol to Natalia Romanov and John Watson. [The Soldier was paranoid enough to set some way to track movements and actions with those two. He just knew it.]

[Pierce was not interested in having anyone concerned for his injuries, and he was well used to the Soldier's reporting style by now. If anything, this finally felt a little normal, though the scent that wafted from the other man was still so potent that he could have gagged. It was why he made the Soldier sit at a bit of a distance, and it annoyed him greatly that so little thought was given to personal hygiene here.]

You will continue with that arrangement with both, checking in and offering information that you have me captured and contained. [He wiped at his face, pulling out a shard of glass and turning it so that he could investigate the gash on his cheek. It would require sutures.]

When was the last time you bathed, ate, slept and changed your clothing?

[He would believe all of that, not that the Soldier was capable of lying, but the smell... that would be the first order of business, even if he would need more details about everyone the Soldier had been in contact with. There were basics that were necessary first, and then they could consider the spiderweb of information that he had no doubt the Soldier had tucked away.]

Are there any locations that provide clean warm water in this town? If so, where? [He slid off his pack of supplies and began to rifle through them, looking for medical supplies and finding only a bit of gauze to press to his face.]

Lay out all your weapons on that table top beside you. And are you injured at all?

Are there known dangers at or around this aquarium?

[It made no sense that there were places once more strategically placed all around the city that provided very basic but necessary needs. Food, warm water, places to revive. This felt all too much like a game, a gathering place in order to toy with the various people that were here.

Pierce was not surprised that the Soldier carried around so many weapons, and he watched each piece being laid out. His expression sharpened at the blood stained glass and the handsaw. He shook his head slightly, disappointed.]

Not maintaining your equipment or yourself? You have been taught better. Clean the blood off of those weapons after you show me your abrasions.

[Abrasions were not particularly of interest to him. The Soldier had survived far worse, but in this stage, any injury was worth investigating in case there was a chance of infection.] Where is your other arm?

[personal profile] peacemongering 2017-01-14 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent. We will be travelling there beginning tomorrow morning in earnest.

[To be honest, he would be used to the Soldier's rank smell by then, but that was not the point. He didn't handle a weapon that was so dirty for so long, and that would be changing immediately. It might even make the Soldier feel better, should he let 'Bucky' return just to prove the point that personal hygiene was worth more than being a paranoid cantankerous old man.

He investigated the abrasions with light touch, making certain nothing was too hot to indicate unnecessary inflammation, but all seemed to be healing as well as could be expected. The Soldier wouldn't or shouldn't die from these wounds.

However, the other information brought his head up, and his eyes moved to where the metal arm had once been attached. His jaw worked slightly before he reached out and have the Soldier a pat on the right shoulder.]

I should have been here to see to your needs, and I've failed in that. That's changed now, and we'll put you back to rights. Was the arm functional when it was removed, or was the damage too extensive from the frostbite?

[He could recall every single interaction with the Soldier, and he recognized these signs as part of their first meetings. He had been certain to repeat the gesture to not only set him apart as a handler but to encourage a more positive result from the Soldier himself. No creature wanted to suffer through every experience and part of the value of the Soldier was his willingness to work. Hard work could be encouraged with positive reinforcement and what appeared to be a human connection.

He would have asked the Soldier to strip in order for him to investigate the entirety of these claims, but there was no ability to lie right now. He would see it soon enough when he managed to find a place for bathing to occur because right now... the smell was still enough to make him consider sleeping in another area.]

A shame, but at least you received medical attention. I certainly wouldn't want to lose you. After all, I'm setting up the board here, and you're key to that. Would you like to help me with that? Would you like a purpose again?

[He used the word like very specifically to see how the Soldier would respond to it. Often he tried to humanize the HYDRA weapon of choice. So few did for fear of attachment, but Pierce never feared that. He utilized it.]

[Pierce had no plans on punishing the Soldier, which was the point for later on. Why punish a being that was doing what he wanted currently? Reinforce the good, do what he can to ignore or punish the bad. The Soldier was a finely tuned machine, but he already had a plan in mind to set in motion, and so they would do exactly that and let the end result speak for itself.

And the Soldier seemed to be in order with that answer, which was good. They would get on just fine for the time being. He would be order, and that would mean that the Soldier could recover after so much long-term self-abuse.]

I know you will. That's why I can trust you. [Which was a tactic he used before. Trust was big for him and offering it to the Soldier was a way to make him seem as the better man.

One last pat on the shoulder before he was moving off to dig through his pack in search of something - anything - to stop the bleeding to his hands and face. It had been a long time since he had been so abused, and he was reminded of Rumlow's favourite saying: order through pain.]

Once we tie up some loose ends with checking in, you're going to eat small meals five times daily. You're going to sleep up to eight hours a night. When we arrive at the aquarium, you will change and wash your clothing and yourself. First things first is us dealing with that hair of yours once I bandage my wounds.

[In Pierce's mind, it was never the weapon to be afraid of. If one understood it, knew proper safety and how to handle and maintain it well, a weapon was only as good as the finger on the trigger. That's where people should fear; the person on the other side of the weapon, the person with control to decide where and when it would fire. Regardless of the denials and bleating otherwise, he would always partially have a hand on the Soldier's trigger and thus he was far, far more dangerous. He also had no reason to deploy the Soldier, wasn't in a position to make that useful, so this was little more than feeling out and relearning everything that he could about this malfunctioning creature.

Pierce paused and then began to pull out fresh food which he had picked up before he had come here from the grocery store just before arriving here. He still had his rations, still had food for himself, and so he put out what he had grabbed and gestured at the Soldier. Taking care of something he considered very important.]

Five small meals a day. Before we head to the aquarium, we can restock you even more so you are well-provisioned. You will understand the importance after a day or two. You will feel better, I promise.

[He didn't have much in the way of supplies for first aid, but he still had plenty of cloth from making rope. He began to wrap it around his damaged hands and then pressed another balled up stripe to his bleeding face, applying pressure what with a lack of suture supplies and an even further lack of sterility.]

[The check-ins were not as smooth as he expected, but they were done for the day and hopefully the next day or so would smooth them over even more. A constant check-in was necessary, but next time, they may used rope that's loose enough where he can still signal to the Soldier.

There were some mannerisms that were cringe-worthy after all, but they would deal with that as it came. They would have a few days of travel ahead of them and once at their destination, a day at the aquarium to freshen up. Assuming no one stumbled on them or asked too many questions, he would release the Soldier was a code, setting a time limit for that to happen. He doubted the Soldier would be so eager to tangle with him again.

He rubbed his wrists when he was untied, shaking his head a little as he stretched and prepared to move around.]

As good as to be expected. Keep your conversations with Watson shorter and more abrupt.
