[log] Event: Lavender's Green, Part Two [open]

Characters: everyone
Location: mysterious, white hallways
Date: Day 193-194
Summary: Find friends. Get lost. Don't look.
Warnings: Potential for gore and psychological horror. Please note any specific warnings in your subject lines!

While confusingly similar, the area is split into a few different sections:

The Core
The hallways here are narrow and twist at a rapid rate. With how dazzlingly white everything is, it's easy to not realize you're coming on a turn and slam right into the walls. There are no rooms here--no one starts here, though they may find it while they wander. At the center is a large, round area, like the center of a spiral. There's a lot of air pressure here.

The Inner Hallways
The largest area, filled with dead ends, gentle slopes and twists, and, occasionally, difficult-to-see drops where a higher hallway intersects with a lower one without a wall to separate them. The whole place tastes vaguely like blood. Most rooms are here--most people start here.

The Outer Hallways
The outer ring of the ball of yarn. It's not as thick with halls and twists as the other two areas, leading to a lot more boring walking in one direction. It's totally possible to circle around the same path multiple times without realizing it, as everything is so similar here. Occasionally, footsteps can be heard just outside the farthest walls. Sometimes, something breathes. There are a few rooms here--some people will start here.

Remember to note what kind of eyes your character has in their top level!

[It must have been difficult to avoid the walls, drops and rises when half of one's attention to was aimed backwards. He was going to let House get on with it though, even as they listened to the heavy breathing. With no source, he was inclined to believe that it was a trick to raise the fear that had been infused in them from the change of their eyes.

He took those twelve seconds breathing himself, calming nerves and putting himself back into rights, compartmentalizing his fear again. Reassigning it. Embedding it deeper.]

Coping mechanism. Best to keep track of the numbers though in case they are required in a puzzle or a riddle of some kind. Shall we?
rubikscomplex: (childish | oh nice)

Recording potentially relevant data to identify a pattern. [House stays where he is and gestures for Pierce to move forward. If he's going to be a needling asshole, House will return the favor.]

And after you. I insist. Age before beauty, and all that.
awwnoun: (012)

[personal profile] awwnoun 2017-01-01 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but then we'd be out of clothes. Which is bad, for when they inevitably dump us outside again.
peacemongering: (Trust me)

[personal profile] peacemongering 2017-01-01 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that what you tell yourself? [It wasn't as if House could out-run him, so there was no point not needling the man. It was as close to enjoyment as either of them might have, working little ways under one another's skin. They all had so very little enjoyment in their lives after all.

Alexander moved ahead again, glancing at House as he passed.]
Are you afraid, Doctor? [He slid his hand along the wall, careful to kick a foot out with each step as he made his way along and actually caught the sharp turn before he could run head-long into it. Ah good, he changed direction with the wall.] When I awoke with these eyes, I was infected with an unnamed fear. Does that happen often?
awwnoun: i've been watching the whole time and nah (003)

[ Clint rolls his eyes. ]

Does this ever get old for you? [ See, now he's mad that he's having to move because it hurts, so Lutha gets sass. ] The whole angsty angry fuck-everybody teenager thing, does that get old?
powersouls: (006)

I don't know, I'd be willing to give up my sweater. It's awful and itchy and ugly.

[personal profile] eclecticbassist 2017-01-01 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh—Okay, sure. Yeah! That sounds nice.

[ She gets a few steps closer. She'll just plop herself down on the floor, unless Davesprite wants to go somewhere else first. ]

Have you been doing okay? Keeping your tail warm enough?
jumpthegun: (confused | distracted)

[personal profile] jumpthegun 2017-01-01 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[John freezes for a moment at the return introduction, but he slides away the surprise--and what a nasty surprise it is after just meeting up with Bucky--and just smiles politely back. Okay. He just needs to follow Natasha's advice. Don't lie where you don't have to. Stay calm. Just be casual.]

Yeah! [His voice has gone a little too bright and John tones that down as he pulls a face.] Guess it's not too surprising you didn't find anything after seeing the Obituaries. From the way the Joker reacted, I don't think he killed Batman, either. Probably an anomaly. I can't imagine him getting caught out after lockdown. He's too much of a planner for that.

I do hope he comes back. He's a good man. Bloody annoying and hard-headed, but a good man.

[John clears his throat. He should stay with Pierce, try to direct him back to where he'd lost Bucky.]

If you're looking for the center, would you mind me coming with you, then? I'm decent enough for finding things you don't want to run into or fall down.

The... blood trails?

[John hasn't seen any blood trails. You're going to need to elaborate.]

[Owing to a massive lack of anywhere better to be, Davesprite does indeed mean right here. It helps in some way that Jade agrees so easily. Despite everything, she's still ready to be friendly with him.]

[He sinks down onto a curl of his tail beside her.]

About as much as I can be.

[He and House did risk death the other night, but they made it through, so he'll count it as a win. And she already heard about that from the post he made.]

Found this plastic thing and stuck that on there, and these little binder clips that help keep it all closed. Ginger sewed me this big giant rainbow sock for it, but I haven't had the chance to collect it yet.

What about you? Have you been doing alright on food and, well, everything?

[He's not sure how to ask her emotional state. Obviously just saying it plainly is too hard for dumb bird boys.]
rubikscomplex: (childish | thinking)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-01-01 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep!

[It's an answer to all of those questions, technically, but he's going to pretend it's only for the last one.]

They like screwing with our heads, get used to it. I guess it's basically karma for you.

[He follows after Pierce, also unwilling to mention that the artificial fear isn't actually the reason for his wariness. Even without it, they'd probably be playing this song and dance. Five months of being murdered, beaten, and having his perceptions and mind screwed with have left their mark, unfortunately. Let the man assume, though.]
theurgy: (Default)

I'm sorry

[personal profile] theurgy 2017-01-01 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dryly:] Lead the way out then, beautiful.
peacemongering: (Oh you crazy kids)

[personal profile] peacemongering 2017-01-01 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, you don't seem like a man who believes in karma. Or religion for that matter. Am I mistaken?

[House was probably some heathen, which was fair given what he had come to see as so much distrust. This one seemed far too skeptical and rude towards an entire area that required nothing more or less than simple belief without a basis of evidence.

Besides, he didn't believe in karma or luck himself.]

It doesn't particularly bother me; I was just curious. Right now, it's within my control and that's what matters.

[If she notices anything about the hand, she doesn't say anything. It could be she's very use to rough hands.] Oh.

What's a "video games"?

[personal profile] empireofrats 2017-01-01 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rather than hold his hand, she decides to hold onto the crook of his elbow instead.] Yes. I'm glad to see you, too. I thought I wouldn't find any of you again. Ever.

I saw some people I hadn't seen before, but they talked about the town, so I guess they had been there, too.
mrcreamsicles: (076)

[personal profile] mrcreamsicles 2017-01-01 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It's called a trust exercise. You let me noogie you and there is basically no way I can believe you'll kill me.

[It's just ridiculous enough to work.]

[He drank in the reaction with a hidden amusement, verifying so much of the assumptions that he had been building against this man. Yet more proof that his presence here had not gone unnoticed by some and even more, the Soldier was revealing important information as to ways to bring the former weapon to heel. The need to care always left open a way after all. Maybe if John was as close to the Soldier, the hurt could easily go both ways. Ah, something to amuse himself on at present.

He dropped his handshake when it was polite to do so, tucking his hands into his suit pockets. It seemed that he was being provided some interesting information on this Batman figure as well, and with the reaction of the Joker public, he had narrowed down the man's real name as well. A good planner. Hardy. The focus of the Joker... sounded like someone who was useful as long as they returned in the first place.]

He sounds like the kind of person that this place needs, especially with this Joker fellow around. Was that one the cause of your injuries?

[He glanced at John and then smiled all over again, nodding his head. It would be useful to have ammunition in case he run across the Soldier again. It would be very informative to see the pair together, to assess for the full strength of the alliance that had apparently happened.]

I'm not concerned for my well-being, given how many walls I've hit so far. It would be best to travel with someone; you never know what we might find, right? A fellow soldier can always be trusted; we have codes of brotherhood regardless of the war we fought in.
rubikscomplex: (suspicious | trust issues)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-01-01 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe in thermodynamics. [For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.] But no. Life isn't fair. You're some kinda Christian, believe in good and evil and all that crap?

Anyway, 'right now' is the operative phrase there, bro. Think you'll be able to handle it when you do lose control? [Because it's a when, not an if, in House's mind.]
peacemongering: (On top of the world)

[personal profile] peacemongering 2017-01-01 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
At least you believe in something. [Even if it was the laws currently proven by something tangible. Of course, the power of belief was interesting despite not being tangible or explainable at times.] I was born to a Catholic household if that's what you're asking. But no, I don't believe in good and evil; I believe in the potential of people.

[He moved down the hallway after the sudden turn and nearly dropped into a hole but caught himself with an exaggerated windmill of his arms and leaning against the wall suddenly. He carefully felt and looked ahead and then moved down the drop and up the other side, turning to regard House.] I suspect when I stop being able to handle it is when the fun really begins. It will either destroy me, or it will destroy anyone close to me.

[personal profile] mrcreamsicles 2017-01-01 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You're breaking my heart here.

[He gives an exaggerated sigh. He could have admitted that any step of the line before now and saved them the trouble, but...]

Okay, air guitar and maybe some backup vocals. I'm warning you now that you reap what you sew, but you've got no better options than me.

Ready when you are.
jumpthegun: (srs | uncertain)

[personal profile] jumpthegun 2017-01-01 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
No, this is... I sprained my wrist m'self. [He raises the arm in the sling a little bit.] The eye was Dr. Stein a few weeks ago. And, uh... actually, if we get separated again, you probably want to be on the lookout. There's a little girl here named Melanie or Pandora. I dunno what they did to her, but she'll attack you if you get too close. She's fine to talk to at a distance, but then she goes rabid.

[John shifts, looking intensely uncomfortable for a moment. He doesn't like hurting women to start with and he likes hurting children even less.] I had to knock her out to get her off me. She's blonde, Caucasian, British.

[He clears his throat and then motions back the way he's come from.]

There was an intersection a little ways back. We can try heading that way if you haven't found anything your direction.

[John's just not going to address the matter of brotherhood. It makes him a little uncomfortable to be reminded that Pierce is a fellow soldier.]
jumpthegun: (srs | investigating)

[personal profile] jumpthegun 2017-01-01 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It's, ah... has anyone explained what a computer is to you? Or a television?
peacemongering: (Feigned Interest)

[personal profile] peacemongering 2017-01-01 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Dr. Stein being one of those people to avoid according to the list. Is that bad luck on your part or planned? [He nodded his head as he took in the information on the little girl, and he wondered what she was about. Why attack depending on the distance? A ruse of sanity perhaps?] Is she a prisoner of Norfinbury normally?

[Yet another sign of the limitations of John's abilities to deal with certain situations, but he couldn't fault the man. Hurting children was painful for anyone, some more than others. It was interesting how the situations that they faced here so often put a person to either cross a line they normally wouldn't or be gravely injured because of them facing their own limitations over and over.]

There was nothing in my direction as far as I could tell. Seems like yours might be more productive. [He began to head in the direction where it seemed John had come from to search for the intersection in question.]

Do you have a particular direction you want to go in? The center, I assume. Unless you're searching for someone?
