This building is an arts and crafts store--it's still possible to find colored paper, fabric, scissors, and the like if you look carefully. The scent of glue, wood, and fabric still clings to the walls. There isn't too much here, but there is a small back room with a bathroom and a place to sit down. The back area is much darker than the front, as its buried in snow outside. The walls of the building seem to be holding, though.

[Instead of answering directly, Alfie looks over to wherever Emily is milling around.]

Emily? Emily, come here for a moment.

[empireofrats]

[As summoned, Emily wanders over to the two men curiously.] I'm here.

[devoutish]

Emily, we care about you very much, and Duster tells me he's very worried about losing you because of how much he would miss you. We would very much like it if you stayed with us, instead of taking Peter and going off on your own.

[bywolves]

[ jfc you can't just!!!

Royce stares at them both, mouth a tight, thin line. He will not confirm or deny this. Mostly Alfie gets an offended look. ]

[devoutish]

[HE CAN AND HE DID NOW DEAL]

[Hilariously, Emily looks surprised only because of the first half, something she already felt she knew. She's confused as to why Alfie needs to elaborate on this.

Honestly, what intuitive little girl would not know Royce "Jerk With a Heart of Gold" Melborn enjoyed her company? Washing hair. Blanket snuggling...] Oh.

[She looks between the two of them, then at Peter, then at them. She knows Peter isn't quite so bad. Rough around the edges (like them), a bit brash (like them), but Trying.] What's going to happen to Peter?

[devoutish]

Are you hoping he'll travel with us?

[He knows Royce might flip a shit over him even suggesting this, but he Dun Care.]

I hate you. [ Royce tells Alfie flatly. He folds his arms. And he's not helping his case, here, as an aside: ] I don't particularly care what happens to Peter.

[empireofrats]

[Royce gets a rather tiny disgruntled face, scolding in the way kids do. When she looks back at Alfie, she seems uncertain. Does Alfie want her to say yes? Does Alfie want her to say no? Is there a wrong answer!!!] He's kind of mean, but I think it's pretend. I think he's squishy inside. [She may or may not look at Royce out of the corner of her eye.]

But he's really smart. He taught me how to look for things where people might not find them. He taught me how to build a snare, like one that can trap a foot.

But I don't know if he will come with us. He doesn't like adults very much. He thinks you're all very bossy.

[devoutish]

Well, he's never met us, has he.

[bywolves]

I'm not bossy. He may be right about Solomons. [ Royce. ]

[empireofrats]

He's stubborn. [Like two other people she knows...] You aren't going to let him come with us, are you? Because there would be five people.

[devoutish]

It is something that would need to be discussed. With all of us, yeah?

[Look at him, being democratic. If they were his gang he'd be handing out orders right and left right now.]

[bywolves]

[ Sigh. ] How do you even know he would want to come with us?

[empireofrats]

[Norfinbury is making Alfie soft.]

I could ask him. I think you all should talk to him! He doesn't like adults, but... he could... maybe?

You two aren't like most adults.

[They are, tho.]

[devoutish]

But you want him to come. Yeah? If you could have your way, you would want him to come with us. Am I right?

[bywolves]

[ Royce keeps his mouth shut, looking away. He has nothing to say about this that will help the situation. ]

[empireofrats]

[For a moment, Emily peers at Royce uncertainly. Is Royce indicative of what both Royce and Alfie want? (Tifa, too?) Royce shows disagreements much more openly, and as Emily looks at Alfie once more, she wonders again if this is a trick question.]

Yes. He seems smart, and he doesn't let anyone tell him what to do. [That seems good to Emily, but is that good or bad for them, she wonders.] He likes to make his own decisions.

[devoutish]

[Just like Alfie. What a joy they would be in a group together.]

And what if he traveled on his own, but nearby?

[empireofrats]

[Royce is not freaking giving any good input to help her here!! She glances back and forth between the two of them.

WHAT DOES ALFIE WANT HER TO SAY??? What is the correct saying!! She's only ten! She can't handle this level of adult social pressure!] He might do it... maybe. If we have some things that could help him.

He is trying to find out more about the monsters, but--he isn't looking for them like he's looking for a way out. Oh!

He is also looking for his things, the things the pretend lady took from him. He said he had a wolf, too, but it isn't here.

[bywolves]

[ He has no input!! He doesn't particularly want to travel with anybody who isn't Alfie, Tifa or Emily, but he's not going to fight it. It's getting harder to care the longer the argument goes on - the mania's making it hard for him to even focus. ]

You'll need to even ask him if he would even want to be here. I'd gotten the impression he was only interested in traveling with Emily.

[devoutish]

Yeah, might be.

[Alfie does not sound particularly fussed either way, but it's not likely that he'd show it now if he was.]

He's not trying to hunt the monsters anymore, then? He's looking for a way to leave? Well. Then I take back what I said before, about him being an idiot.

[empireofrats]

He just doesn't like grown ups. [Matter-of-factly, as if that is a totally normal thing, not liking adults!]

He isn't scared of the monsters, but he said some were following him before when things were all prickly. [She makes a motion in front of her with her fingers. Static, she just is too ye olde to know what static is like.] The thing that happened after you died.

But he didn't try to kill them or touch them. Maybe he thinks they will show him how to get out if he studies them.

He said someone told him the pretend lady takes our things, and so he's looking for her so he can get his stuff back.

[bywolves]

Unfortunate then, that most of the people who might be getting out of this place are adults. [ Royce says in irritation. A beat, because he is too ye olde to know what static is also, but has had it explained to him: ] Static. You're talking about static, Emily.

[devoutish]

Yeah, static.

[Alfie nods.]

Well - I think you're right, Royce. We do not know what Peter thinks. That's why we should be discussing this with him, as well.
