[log] Trading Spaces [closed]
Characters: Charles, Al, Church, Zach, also Cecil
Location Somewhere around F21, the lake tunnel, then 242
Date: Day 156, midday and Day 157, evening
Summary: Brief meet-up with Al and Co while they travel in opposite directions, then meeting Cecil in the fire station
Warnings: Language for sure
[Charles doesn't like the lake tunnel. It makes him feel claustrophobic and sets his teeth on edge. Unfortunately, it's the only way into the Entrance, and that's where he's decided to go, good life decisions be damned. It's cold outside (duh) but not as cold as it has been, so he's a little less worried about frostbite while traipsing around out here. Actually, being in the tunnel helps a lot with that, cutting off the wind. So, you know, trade off.
He's starting to think 'hey maybe this isn't so bad' when he spots three shapes up ahead. Someone coming from the other end of the tunnel, and there really isn't an option to give them a wide berth. Which he isn't even sure why he wants to bother doing in the first place. It's not like he's fucking scared of these losers or something. Definitely not. He pointedly keeps trudging forward, hatchet over his right shoulder.]

Ooh, sounds fancy. Why are you not with Charlie then?
[Zach knows he's okay - they've been talking just the day before, after all. Or at least, he hopes he's still okay...]
no subject
We split up for a while. He's fine, he's doin' his own thing. He doesn't want to come back south. Can't say I blame him.
[He shrugs.]

He makes a noncommittal noise, lips twisting a little as he takes a couple stumbling steps.]
Yeah, well, what I've seen of the south part of town so far hasn't been all that great.
[Yeah, it's a weak joke, but it's still something. He smiles a little, tilting his head up to the sky.]
no subject
Was it the total darkness? That does make it hard to see, yeah.
no subject
Maybe I'll come back. If - when I see again. I could be surprised, maybe it's actually awesome down there. There is a McD's after all, it's already better than most places around here.
no subject
[Surprise, they actually have those in his world. Not... nearly as many, but still.]
I guess the stuff Kunsel mentioned does sound like the menu. I'll have to let you know if it measures up.

[This town is crawling with people that have never heard of McDonalds or Domino's. It's kinda sad, and that's coming from someone who barely ever ate that kind of food.]
Yeah, burger and fries and nuggets. If you find big mac sauce, keep me some?
no subject
Yeah, will do, man. Maybe I should bottle it up and trade it for good shit. Seems like a solid investment.

[Zach can't help the snort that escapes him. He hopes Al is not listening in, he probably wouldn't be very impressed with the childishness.]
The guys that were there before said there wasn't any, but they didn't really know what to look for. I'm amazed that McDonalds still exist in like, 2050, but I shouldn't be really, right? People will eat junk food until the end of times.
[Shrugging a shoulder, Zach smirks.]
Hey, I hope you get to open whatever you're looking to open over there.
no subject
Yeah like I said, I'll keep an eye out for you. And thanks, I don't know how optimistic I am since these goddamn doors seem bomb-proof, but we'll see. I've got some ideas. Good luck reuniting with your girlfriend.
no subject
D'you have key cards or anything? It's worked for people before. But yeah, I getcha - I tried with the door in the vet's office for like, two days, and couldn't get anything out of it. It's fucking frustrating.
[Sorry for the language, Al.]
no subject
I don't have a card, but this thing doesn't have a card slot anyway. I don't think that's how it opens, but there's gotta be some trick.
no subject
Hmm. You think it's a puzzle? In the vet office I tried to pry the door open with my crowbar but. No dice.
