Okay. [She rushes away immediately because, surely, nothing should ever be left to stagnate when it has to do with hide and seek.]

[After a few moments:] I found one! [From very far away, and then her little feet come trampling back, shaking the floor-ridden tablet.] I found one! [Breathless, she drops to her knees and shows a much-too-close coat at Alfie.

What do you know, it's white. That's about all he can see.]

[devoutish]

Good girl. Back up a bit and hold it up, will you?

[The angle is awkward, but she obliges anyway by standing up and taking a step back. She folds her arm under the coat so she can attempt to hold it up horizontally so Alfie can see it on the ground.

Then she thinks better of it, draping it around herself and holding the open front edges.] This isn't mine, though.

Do you know who gave it to me?

[devoutish]

No. Whatever restocks the houses and the food buildings.

But you should keep it. It doesn't belong to anybody else.

[That they... know of.]

Maybe a food fairy restocks everything. Dunwall gets food on rail cars that aren't seafood--the food from other cities. The place where I live gets it brought in a coach.

[But the coat is nice. She fiddles with the front a minute, then smooths everything down.] Okay. I'll keep it unless someone else wants it back.

[Like the monsters....]

[devoutish]

If somebody wants it, you tell 'em no. It's yours.

Okay...

But what if they are really cold and don't have a coat?

[devoutish]

Everybody has a coat.

[empireofrats]

If they lost it...?

[devoutish]

Then they should've been more careful.

Don't give away your coat unless you've got an extra.

[Emily will remember that.

She'll be sure to let the next person she meets freeze to death before handing over her jacket.] Okay, I won't give it away unless I have an extra.

[devoutish]

You can find extra clothes in the houses. Supplies too, other things. Usually not food.

Okay. I was going to look around the house, too. I don't think there's much left, but... I'll look anyway.

Then I'll follow the map. There might be treasure.

Alfie Solomons, of London. Good to meet you, Emily.

Nice to meet you, Mister Solomons. [Alfie is a cute name, but she won't say! Because he's a grown-up! Also, he's a man.]

I think I'm going to look around the house now, then I might go outside.

[devoutish]

Have you figured out how to take photographs yet?

Little still images that you can save. There's a button for it.

Oh! [LIKE PICTURES.] I want to save some.

Do you have to sew the button onto something first?

[devoutish]

It's not that sort of button. You've got the button on the side that sticks out, that you press to turn your machine on. Then you've got the little colored squares on the screen, and those are called buttons, too. Confusing, innit? You'll get the hang of it.

[empireofrats]

Oh. [WELL THEN.

The tablet is lifted, and then turned in all manner of directions until she finds the camera button. Of course, she pushes it. It takes a lovely shot of the ground and half her feet.] It's silly. These don't look like buttons.

Well, maybe a Broadcast button. Or a special door button.

[devoutish]

They're things you press, yeah?

You just point that at what you want an image of, and press that same button. Try it, go on.

Okay. [Hmm. It can't be just anything, certainly not. Holding the tablet, she glances around the room for a moment to try to find something worth taking a picture of in the first place.

It can't be just anything.

She decides the best thing to take a picture of is the map and writing on the wall. Looking at it later may prove useful. Also, it's kind of colorful and not broken or drab.

Unfortunately, Alfie gets the full service of watching and listening to a ten year old girl take a picture with a tablet.] You said it will save them.

But I don't see it anywhere.

There's another little button for that, next to the camera. It looks a bit like a drawing of an envelope, or a folder.

What did you photograph?

[empireofrats]

I took a photograph of the wall with the map. So I can look at it later, and so I can try to find any treasure with it. Like a treasure map.
