[log] rise and shine [closed]
Characters: Beckett, Brian, and Jade!
Location: Building 167
Date: Day 130, morning
Summary: Beckett's in for a rude awakening. He didn't ask for a wake up call. Wordplay. Seriously, though, Jade gets jumped. Because he's not a morning person.
Warnings: It might get a lil violent?? Plus Brian's usual warning blah blah blah
[ That conversation they had at the post office a few days ago suddenly feels pertinent:
"Do you have one of those friends that you dare not wake up because they might bite you? Most humans seem to. Now imagine that friend is a vampire. And that the biting is literal."
So, yeah, Jade makes sure to be the first one to enter the shoe store. She's weirdly... not nervous? Just expecting a hassle, like when she used to give Bec a bath every now and then. He didn't really need it, being a demigod powered by a star, but washing your dog is just Something You Do. Anyway.
It takes a minute to find the precious bundle of snot-rags, and he doesn't look too hot (unless he has a fever. In which case. He looks hot enough. Or something.) ]
Um, Beckett?
[ She sucks in a breath and puts a hand on his shoulder. ]

Um, Beckett?

He doesn't react to Jade's touch. Too far gone with dehydration, exhaustion, general sadpireness. It's going to take a bit more effort to bring him around. Maybe shake him. Splash him with ice water. Yell in his ear. If you dare.]
no subject
Hey, you gotta get up! I'll - I'll throw snowballs at you if you don't!
[ She really will, though. She's glancing at the door right now, honestly contemplating tormenting this poor, sick vampire in such a way. War is hell. ]
no subject
Thirsty. He's thirsty.
Awareness goes. What rushes in instead is pure blazing instinct. His eyes snap open, and he moves with sudden, terrifying speed. The Beast knows nothing except that a warm body is nearby, and in an instant his hand is in Jade's hair and his fangs at her throat. His human body is very weak, but there's remarkable strength in a starving animal.
This is gonna hurt.]
no subject
[ She's cut off mid-swear when Beckett grabs her hair !! Which is the worst. Getting it caught in things is already nightmarish, so this is more than enough to distract her for a second. And then remember that a very unhappy camper is trying to eat her for breakfast. She tries to just pull away first, but that obviously doesn't work.
She really doesn't want to hurt him. Time to start squirming around and maybe push him off of her! ]
W - Whoa, [ this is making the pulling on her hair so much worse oh god ] hey - Quit it!
no subject
So that all her struggles do nothing but to make him stiffen against them and clamps down harder. To try to push and tear him away would involve tearing out a chunk of her neck as well.]
no subject
No more squirming. Okay. Then she'll have to, um... rough him up a bit. She reeeeeeally, seriously does not want to do this - not just because Jade dislikes hurting people in general, but that conversation with the other Calliope has made her nervous about being In Control when stuff like this happens. Jack Noir and the mail lady wouldn't hurt her, but, holy shit, Beckett could actually kill her.
Grimacing, she draws back a fist as far as their awkward position will allow, and (finally) throws a punch. Then, just to be safe, she starts clawing at his face. Or whatever she can reach. ]
no subject
It doesn't break his grip, doesn't bring him to his senses either, but it makes him choke in pain. And keep choking. Her clawing catches and tears off his tinted glasses, revealing the red glow of the eyes beneath, and draws blood where she scratches deep, and the pain keeps coming and he can't catch his breath through the mix of signals, the pain and the rage that comes with it, the hunger, and the fact that he needs air where he never had before. Though he holds on, there are disturbing wet sounds coming from his throat now. He fights his own need to breathe. But there's only so long you can fight that.]
no subject
This is getting results, though! ...Sort of. She isn't scratching anymore, but she does (reluctantly) punch him again. It's much weaker than the last one, which she hopes is enough to free her after the force of the last one. ]
no subject
Within a minute, he's reduced to a panting, coughing heap on the floor, blinking blearily back into something resembling awareness. It's hard to tell whether he'll manage to hold it, or lose consciousness again.]
no subject
Never mind that though, someone who isn't Jade Harley is experiencing discomfort! Which is unacceptable. ]
Beckett. [ Wow, talking smarts. ] If you pass out I'm actually going to kick your ass.
no subject
Wh- what - what did I - ?
[He raises a shaky hand to wipe his mouth. Blood. A lot of blood. Her throat. Oh. His eyes remain unfocused, but there's a faint flash of horror in them.]
No. No...
no subject
[ Please don't freak out because then she'll freak out and who the fuck even knows what Brian will do - ! ]
Don't go all catatonic on me, doofus; I'm [ talking makes the bleeding worse this is the worst ] fine.
no subject
My bag, there - first aid kit - [He nods shakily in its direction, and coughs hard again.] - water - please?
no subject
[ She scampers off to fetch (HA) the first aid kit and a bottle of water, the former of which she sets down to use later. ]
Here.
no subject
If he can't do that, he is under no illusion that he won't attack her again.]
No, you first, you have to - have to stop the bleeding, clean it - not safe for me to smell it.
no subject
[ She flounders for a second, not quite sure where to start. Well, she doesn't want to ruin her gloves, so maybe those should come off...? Yeah, she'll just keep them in her pocket. That's step number 0.5 out of ?? complete.
The bleeding has gotten a little better, so she takes off her scarf after grabbing the first aid kit. Now to clean up. Since they don't have running water, she'll have to make do with a water bottle from her own bag, using the dry parts of the ruined scarf as a washcloth. Finally, she bandages the wound.
It's been ten minutes. ]
I'm done. [ She kinda wants to keep the scarf in case she can wash it in the near future, so she balls it up and tosses it to her backpack a few feet away. ]
no subject
He opens the bottle with shaking hands and takes a huge gulp, almost choking on that, too. It's cold. It calms him a little. At last he opens his eyes and looks at her.
His eyes still glow. With how much blood he got down, they'll glow well into the night.]
I'm sorry - didn't know what I was doing. I'm sorry. You should - is Brian here?
no subject
He enters the building and heads over to the two, but pauses and cants his head when he notices what state they're in. What the hell is going on here?*
no subject
[ Oh, jeez. ]
B - Brian, hey! There was, um - It was just an accident. I'm fine!
no subject
[He freezes at the sight of Brian entering, truly unable to predict how his friend would respond. The situation is not hard to put together. Jade's wounds. The blood on his collar and sleeve. If you know what to look for... no question of hiding. Not that he means to.]
- she's not fine. I bit her. Without meaning to, but - please, make her rest.
no subject
He puts his bag--except for his tablet, just in case--down, heads over to Jade and motions for her to sit.*
no subject
[ With a huff, though, Jade sits. She might be a little tired now that the adrenaline's worn off. But only a little. ]
no subject
I woke into – we call it frenzy. The thirst was too much. I’m sorry. It was bound to happen. Sooner or later…
no subject
He'll ask Beckett about the frenzy thing once Jade's taken the water. For now he manages to watch both of them, trying to figure out what state they were in and if he needed to do anything. To help or to protect...someone.*
no subject
Feel free to converse, she'll just be getting Hydrated. ]
no subject
... is it over? You're here, and we didn't die, so I assume...
action/text, you all know his username by now, whatever
He takes out his tablet, sets up a private message to the two of them, and turns to Beckett.*
