[log] four's a crowd [closed]
Characters: Haku, Eiri, Stiles and Greed. Aka a sausage fest.
Location: N3, building 79
Date: Day 6, night
Summary: Four people end up locked into the same house at night. Discussions and possible hijinks ensue.
Warnings: Said possible hijinks..? Nothing specific for now, but I'll edit this if something crops up.
[ After having spent so long by himself with only running into a few people as he made his way across the snowy landscape, it's actually pretty weird to suddenly find himself with so much company. Sure, he managed to find Eiri outside today and that's pretty much the biggest relief he could have gotten in this place. It's not a bad day by all means. (For this place's standards, anyway.)
But walking into the nearby building to stay there for the night only to find out there were already two people outside the moment the door locked behind him and Eiri.. well, that's another story. He still feels a little vulnerable around the edges, just a little too emotionally charged after running into the person most important to him again, and being in the company of other people just means he has to tuck that down a little bit further into him again.
It's a good thing that he's at least very practiced and experienced with that. No matter what he might have been like earlier today, Haku manages to come across as the perfect picture of casualness despite the awkward edge to the situation of running into an already occupied building. (Hey, he's never had a lot of shame to begin with, it helps.)
Glancing over from Eiri at his side (he figures their matching coats give away the fact that they belong with each other fairly easily to the others, so at least he won't have to keep up pretenses about that as well when there's no use in lying about it) and then towards Greed and Stiles, he casually tilts his head a little bit. ]
Oh. I didn't know there was a party going on here already. [ Of all things to say.. ]

But hearing the door open again, and for it to be another weirdo couple in all-matching outfits (seriously, were they a boyband? how did they even get here? at least they didn't have guitars or Stiles would've opted for going back out and freezing to death)... he so did not sign up for this.
Especially when he... wait a second. He recognizes the voice of the one speaking, racks his brain for a moment to think about it-- yeah, the first night, on the network. The guy asking him if he was here to make friends, in the same casually annoying tone.]
A party which you're tragically late to, dude, sorry to say but the champagne's all gone. [They never had any.] But we do have melted snow and, uh, wait-- [he digs into his backpack, on the floor next to him, and pulls out what seems to be a package of fruit loops] -- candy, hey, this totally counts for a party.

It's just apparently not going to be this place.
All the same, when they get in the house, Eiri makes sure to remain by Haku's side, or in front of him, or behind him, always without a word. He'll protect Haku from these other guys and any other ghosts he can fend off. He has to. Even if he is a whole head shorter than Haku, but details.
Still, this first guy seems...well, harmless enough, though Eiri still keeps hold of his golf club. Just in case.]
I thought the phrase was fashionably late. Not that this is much of a party, anyway.
[Rude? A little bit, but Eiri isn't known for his compliments.
...That bag of cereal, though. That gives him some pause and also an idea.]
I could be persuaded if you ease up on that a little bit, though.

It... seems like it's a big group tonight. He hadn't been expecting that. It's not the first time he's run into people, but this? This is almost a party. It makes him smirk.]
I dunno; I'd say it's a hell of a party after nearly a week by myself. Can't complain.
[The guy's in good spirits despite the fact that he's still nursing a huge cut on his hand. He's been off by himself for most of the night, though still in the room because he doesn't have anywhere else to be and doesn't feel quite like sleeping yet.
At least the makeshift bandages wrapped around his hand aren't soaked with blood.]

Instead he's just observing the two others. He doesn't recognize the last one that speaks up, but he doesn't seem too bothered by the situation of having to share. There's bandages on his hand - it makes Haku wonder what wounded him. It can't have been this other guy, or there's no way he'd be so relaxed about being around him. At least it means there's no immediate danger, whatever hurt him must have been outside. Or somewhere else.
The other guy he does recognize - if not just by voice. He spoke to him before, and Haku already mentally made a note of him as that one paranoid guy back then. Still a little sarcastic even now, huh. Neither of them seem to pose particular threats, but you never know.
Not that he's making that assessment out loud.
Instead his gaze sure is stuck on that package of fruit loops that Stiles pulled out, almost half-mesmerized by it. Do you know how long it's been since he's had anything remotely resembling candy?
Don't mind all the observing and somewhat intrusive staring, you two - at least he can easily look over Eiri's head as the other guy stands in front of him thanks to the height difference. ]

Not that he's particularly concerned, because the first guy he's stuck with, Greed? Despite the bandages, he definitely does not look like someone who wouldn't go down fighting. Maybe because of the bandages, actually. Except if he got it by, you know, accidentally tripping in the stairs and cutting his hand on a nail or something... he doesn't know, because somehow asking by the way, so how did you get your hand bandaged is a good conversation opener. Especially when the guy doesn't seem too eager for small-talk, anyway.
But he digresses. (It happens pretty often.)] A week by yourself? We should've switched, I've been running to people left and right. Literally, actually, I'm pretty sure the first night's house was to the left of here and yesterday to the right. ... or the other way around.
Anyway! [He shakes the bag of fruit loops, which, excuse you Eiri, are totally not cereal, do you want nutritional values because he can so give them to you. In an extensive list.]
Fruit loops, guys, totally here for sharing. And so are, wait, [he digs into his bag again (he raided the River Market two days in a row, he's got stuff)] uh, a can of beans and cheese curls! Wow, do they seriously have anything that'd actually be good for you? I mean, these are better than dog kibbles, not that I ever actually tried those, but, you know, I would not say no to finding something like lasagna.
[The answer to the question you're all wondering, which is does this guy ever shut the hell up, is no. No he doesn't.]
no subject
(Because his top priority was and still is Haku, of course.)
But he doesn't bring any of that up, just watches as the talkative guy, surprisingly, offers up his fruit loops and even more (though beans? really? good source of protein, probably) and doesn't...shut up.
Well, okay.
So Eiri just holds out his gloved hand, palm up, and interrupts.]
I have a bar and a half of soap, unused. If any of us has something sharp to cut it with, we can call it an even trade.
[Not that he's run into any warm water so trying to clean oneself while freezing to death doesn't exactly sound like fun, but it's something. And Eiri isn't completely rude. He knows the importance of bartering and being fair in order to garner trust between strangers. It's better than just demanding this guy hand over whatever he wants.]
no subject
I have a frying pan and a can opener. We might be able to eat decently well if someone happened to find a gas canister.
[He's much quieter than normal-- normally he isn't the type of person to ever shut up, but now, now Greed is a little more cautious. He isn't going to be so free with his information-- he'll share his items, sure, but talking about himself? He won't be doing that.]
I have a knife, too. Seems like a reasonable trade to me. Just be careful with it; it's sharp.
[...That's probably meant to be a joke, but it's hard to tell-- his voice has been pretty casual sounding the entire time.]

And Haku? Haku is practical in a much less social way, just like usually. He and Eiri count as an unit anyway in his mind, so now Eiri has offered up to share something, that means he's been through this official barter here too.
Which means he's stepping forward until he's near Stiles, grabbing the bag of fruit loops and starting to dig in. No milk or anything needed, nope siree, he's just plainly shoving some of them into his mouth like it's a totally normal nutricious evening meal he's got going on here. (Granted, it's not like it's much different than the usual when it's Haku.) Even as they're still talking. Don't mind him, obv.. ious.. ly.... ]
.. they're fine. [ As an aside to Stiles while the others are all talking, apparently.. Haku seems about 100% more concerned with his snack than anything else going on here, although a lot of it is also him forcing his usual front even harder than usually. ]
