Night 89 - Building 150

*He's not so happy about needing to leave the grocery store now that he's discovered that food can actually be good, but at least he's filled up his pillowcases with food from it. Hopefully Jade got her own cause he may not be sharing. He will be going through the store, though, before eventually finding a corner to settle in.*

*Stuffed animals were usually tame enough. Most just sat there, a few looked creepy but rarely did they cause issues. Brian's not that familiar with them, though, and in his drive to do something instead of just thinking about how Tim wronged him he's taken out his stolen steak knife and has cut one open.
The results are not quite as expected.*

[ The monkey with freaky eyes was already unsettling, so cutting it open and potentially inciting its wrath made her nervous. Now there's a heart and it's bleeding so much, which is kind of ridiculous because it isn't attached to a circulatory system but maybe that means this isn't real-- god, Jade hopes this isn't real. It feels like there's blood splattered across her face, but things on Prospit felt real too and she could summon extra arms, for fuck's sake. She kind of wonders if this is what Grandpa's heart did when he died, the squeezing, because he also bled a lot.

Ugh. Some of the blood got in her mouth. She raises her arm to wipe off her face and notices it feels... clean?

Maybe she was hallucinating. ]

D-Did you, um... see that? [ Hopefully she wasn't in Brian's shot during her minor freak out, or at least didn't look as disturbed as she felt. ]

*He jerks backwards a bit as the heart falls out and drops the knife. After a split second of surprise he leans closer to it, trying to get a better look at how this is happening, and reaches out to pull open the cut more. By the time his hand gets to it, though, all the blood is gone. There's only stuffing inside. Perplexed, he puts the tablet down on the shelf and picks up the monkey to poke at it more. Why did it stop? Where did all that blood go?

He nods absently to Jade's question. And, thankfully for Jade, the tablet was fixed firmly on the stuffed animal until he put it down.*

[ She sighs and rubs her eyes, shoving her glasses up and out of the way. Hope this was worth it, buddy. ]

You were recording, right? [ "When are you not?" ] Maybe the camera caught... all of that.

*He nods and picks his tablet back up. He stops the current recording, holds it out so Jade can see, and plays back the bit with the bear. Everything is normal in the video, no blood or hearts or anything coming out but stuffing, but its heavily distorted. With pulling on the edges, like in videos of the morgues, not with Brian's normal distortions.*

Well, I can't say that I am surprised. Have you seen anything like this before? Er... the gross part, I mean.

You think someone died here? [ The thought of there being a dead body in here makes her shudder a bit; it would just her luck to stumble across that. ]

Night 90 - Building 151

*The whole time they had traveled together he assumed it was temporary. They were going to get food, or to head to the newly discovered area to explore. But now that they had food and were downtown he's not sure why Jade is still following him. There's basically nothing known about this area, and so many new places to look for answers, it would make more sense if she went another way.
But she didn't and he doesn't get it. So after a quick search of the building he's decided to stay the night in (no need to push his luck and risk freezing again) he sends her a message.*

Um, because it is past curfew? [ She's only half-joking, as is often the case with Brian. There are a lot of "here"s he could be referring to; judging by his hermit-like tendencies, though, she assumes he means "in my general vicinity." ]

I'm kidding, hehe. [ nervous laughter ] Uh... I just like traveling with you; is there a problem?

*He shakes his head to the first question, then cants his head some at the second. 'Like traveling with him?'*

Well, I want to go anywhere with you. [ What the heck, Brian? They have a thing going; traveling with him has become part of her routine, and the idea of separating for no particular reason is more than a little upsetting. Potential meltdown ahoy (!); don't push it, dude. ]

Remember when you asked me what makes someone a friend? One thing I mentioned was that friends like interacting with each other, and, um... that is how I feel. About you.

*He just kind of stands there and stares at her for awhile before doing anything. He still doesn't think he does friends, but lately people are getting closer to that sort of area and he has NO idea what to make of that. After a few moments he turns and goes to sit against a wall before turning back to his tablet.*

[ Oh boy, looks like this could take a while. She sits down nearby-ish. ]

Well... [ She's quiet for a minute as she thinks, chewing her lip and fiddling with her sleeve nervously. Jade never really thought about why she wanted to be friends with someone; did she have a reason? Is she supposed to? Her face heats up a little in embarrassment. ]

I don't know? I do not think you need a reason to want to be friends with someone; you just do, because you like them. We've known each other for a little while, so I have gotten kind of, um... attached, is all.

Night 92 - Building 148

*He's been going through these empty shelves for awhile now, longer than it should take for a building of this size. Not that he notices. He barely notices the coughing, either, at least not until it gets bad enough to make him double over. Still coughing, he tugs at his mask enough to uncover his mouth so he can spit up blood. Cheerful.*
