[log] At midnight, all the agents... [closed]

Characters: Beckett, Rydia, Angel, Rhys. And Dumpy.
Location Building 141/post office
Date: Day 84, evening
Summary: Beckett and Angel need to kibitz, friends come along. Probably something terrible happens to Rhys and/or Rydia does something scary with handcuffs idk.
Warnings: None... expected?

Somehow, barring about five minutes with a chocolate cake, sledding on a piece of rubble through the ice tunnel and towards the post office was the most enjoyable thing - scratch that - the only enjoyable thing Beckett had done in all his time in Norfinbury.

He hadn't expected it to work, but it did. He and Rydia went hurtling across the ice, wind in their faces - the freezing air was much sweeter as wind somehow, bracing rather than just cold. It was ridiculous, but that was what made it good. It used to be he'd do the ridiculous on a reasonably regular basis, or at least the daring. Adventure, if you wanted to go so far as to call it that. He used to do that. Before.

Only a taste of it, now, but it's enough to leave him in a markedly higher mood than usual as he and Rydia come up to the door. There isn't long to spare - even travelling as fast as they have, the day is very nearly done and lockdown awaits. They run the last few yards, tablets already warning, and burst inside. Minutes to spare. They make it.

Breathing hard - he'll never be used to breathing hard - Beckett leans against the wall just inside the door and lets his head drop back, gasping. But they've made it. They've made it and it was good.

Rhys has been uncharacteristically quiet all day. Probably has something with the fact that they've been in this post office for days, and Rhys wants out as soon as possible. The relief over the cave-in completely vanishing is a little ruined by the fear of the isolation insanity resurfacing.

He jumps when Angel sort of kind of squeals and lets out one of his own, though it's less delighted and more of a reaction to a sudden loud noise.

Oh. Just Beckett and company. He tries to appear more relaxed, unbunching from his tense, curled-up position.

"Yeah, I can -- " Squeak. Rhys clears his throat and tries again. "I can see that. Um. Hey."
