[This is stupid. John's well aware it's stupid, but he can't help asking a question that's been gnawing away at him for more than a week now.]

How tall is everyone? I've been wondering, meeting with different people here, what the spread of heights might be. Among other things. If you aren't sure on specifics or if you don't know the measurement system, I can give you an idea of how to compare units you might be familiar with.

Here's my current list:

Sorry. I was more thinking for people who aren't great giant metal men. I reckon the armor's enough to put most people off attacking you, in general, even if you weren't that tall.

Oh, right. My brother used to get that all the time, people were always making fun of him for being short, too.

I'm not short. I'm average. Sherlock's just a giraffe. And so is his brother.

I've met you, you were kind of on the small side.

[Usually men come up to just below his helmet, unless they're Major Armstrong, not halfway down his chest.]

Might be different in your world. What's average.

I'm not sure, maybe five feet ten, or five feet eleven. Though Major Armstrong was the same height as me, and Ed was much smaller.

That's definitely taller than the average where I'm from.

[Only by and inch or two, but John isn't going to say that. Let Al assume what he will.]

[There's just a tiny hint of amusement in his voice. Don't think he doesn't know the tricks short people use to delude themselves, his brother is Edward Elric.]

[He just sighs, but it's an amused sigh rather than an irritated one.]

If you say so, Dr. Watson, but there's really nothing wrong with being small, it doesn't stop you doing anything.
