Ten points for tenacity. I'd still strip the pauldrons and most of the rest to carry instead of wear. The temperature and water won't do them much good, and mobility's more important.

Is that what it is made of? Adamantine?

Blocks out the wind, at least. I didn't originally plan to be out here for so long but... [ Gesturing at the mess of snow currently up to her waist. ] ...stuff. You know.

Close. Silverite. Normally it's much more resistant to the elements, but it seems that particular property has been stripped since I got here.

It's slowing you down. The chest plate blocks the wind, but the armor itself is going to be colder without a source of heat. It'll be a problem if you keep it on too long out there.

Silverite. [Something to commit to memory.] Yeah, this place apparently strips everything in it of powers. We're not sure how that works yet.

Do you know the maker of that armor?

Fortunately I don't intend on being out here longer than it takes to get out again, so that's really not going to be an issue. I wasn't aware the doors here locked at night.

Ah. Funny story, actually... there's both a long and a short answer to that. Any preference?

Well, first thing's first - it was forged with lyrium and blood magic by a Magister from the Tevinter Imperium. As far as I'm aware, it's the only one of its kind.

[ Cousland's clearly more than happy to brag about what's effectively the crown jewel of her trophy collection, judging from her tone as she struggles through the second leg of the snowdrift journey. ]

I'll save the details for once I'm inside and not freezing to death by inches, but the short of it is there was some internal treachery and the General it was gifted to was killed by his three lieutenants. So, like any good blood mage, the Magister executed the lieutenants and bound their bodies - alongside the General's - with demons, to hide and guard each piece of armor.

[He's just a geek that was a little over-enthusiastic about seeing her armor.]

Oh. Well, that's a... macabre origin for such a nice piece of work. There wasn't a second in line or something to offer it to?

[It sounds to Tony a little like a cursed quest. If this were a fantasy story, then Cousland would hunt down the three pieces with maybe a party of friends and beat the demons to retrieve it.]

[ Let's be real, she's probably just as much an armor geek as he is. ]

The histories don't specify, but I imagine it would be the next down the chain of command, thus the coup. Squabbling over who would wear the armor is probably what allowed the Magister to get there before the culprits fled.

[ HA HA HAAAAA..... yeahhhhhh, that would be just the strangest darn sidequest, wouldn't it? I mean, it's not like Cousland completely derailed a very serious main quest just to hunt down these armor pieces and kill each revenant guarding it or anything...
~~the companions were not amused, trust me.~~ ]

And you happened to hear the story?

[It's just like one of his roleplaying campaigns! Which he won't mention, but he can't help being a little bit thrilled to hear about the adventures of a real knight. Or at least armored warrior.]

[ Cousland's totally not the type to be an enthusiastic reader on legendary weapons and mythic heroes stuff. Nope. Ahem. ]

You're more than welcome to inspect it if you like. Once I uh... figure out where I am, anyway.

Oh. Have you seen the maps? Some people here made them to help us figure out what the town looks like.

[ SIGH. There's a brief jolt as she finally hops out of the snow trench she's been stuck in after a generous amount of time simply slogging to higher ground, and a pregnant pause while clumps of stubborn snow bits get dusted off her faulds. ]

How about: I fancied a stroll, stumbled over some cryptic journals, and came nose-to-nose with a revenant or two? One thing led to another, and naturally I just had to get the whole set. A mishmash of miscellaneous plate simply wouldn't do.

I haven't glanced at the maps yet. Any particular landmarks I should keep an eye out for?

Yeah, that works.

[Wow. She's really an adventurer. And she probably fights dragons and defends her country and does all sorts of heroic feats. Tony can't help being a bit moved by that idea. It's painting an impressive picture in his mind, at least.]

There's a school in the North. And a hospital in the Southern region of town. They stand out more than the other buildings. If you're up North, the area looks more residential. Smaller houses. It's more open in the area I've seen.

North and south, huh?

[ She pivots a little to aim the camera off in the distance, momentarily blocked by a squareish canine head courtesy of her mabari - snuffling at the camera with a wet nose - whom Cousland shoves out of the way with one hand. The School's twin buildings are distant, but recognizable. ]

I was planning on heading over to investigate those in a day or two.

Well, in theory. Based on the maps and some hard guessing, at least.

[Assuming it is north and not just... uptown. Which is a possibility as well. He's not sure the cardinal directions in Norfinbury even apply, whether the Admin claims they are in a real place or not.]

Heh, yeah, that's familiar all right. There's food in the school. And a shed next door. It's cold, though. Not a great place to camp. Is, uh, that your...?

[Dog, Tony. It's a dog.]

Food? Well then, that's a worthy enough goal for the time being. I'm absolutely famished.

[ Gently unaware Dog's photobombing is anything but normal OH WELL... ]

[He's a little embarrassed at being side-tracked by the massive dog and he doesn't want to look uncool in front of the warrior lady. Tony clears his throat a bit.]

I don't know if things will stay quiet. They seem to kick up pretty frequently, actually. Like the place doesn't want us to sit still. But having enough rations will help since we need to travel so much.

[ Nice save, my guy. She didn't even notice. ]

Either way, can't hurt to lurk around and protect the place. Maybe find a nice little house with a tub and a stocked wine cellar while I'm at it.

Hah. [Aw, he likes her. She is going to be so disappointed, though.]

I'd pay you if you did find a good tub. Any water you're lucky to get at all in this place won't be hot. And I haven't seen anything you could call decent drink.

Truth be told, this isn't even slumming it by Warden standards. Throw in a few dragons and a blight or two, then I'll start being upset, stabbing not withstanding.

You've fought dragons? [Okay, he's fanboying a little. Even though he's... also fought dragons.]

Tony. Tony Stark. I do something similar where I'm from. I mean, I don't know what a Grey Warden is, but the semi-professional heroics thing is accurate. Not really a mercenary, although I guess some people would see it that way.
