He lets out a frustrated exhale, long and sharp.]
Giving me a name isn't helping if you aren't going to say where it is.
shhh I'm not actually here
Well um, I think the other's've said it's in a place called Alaska? I dunno. The countries and places 'n things are different from where I come from.
no subject
[So then what the hell even happened? Magic, maybe? Was he transported off via some boat to lands that shouldn't even exist?]
...Where are you from, then? Some place across the ocean?
no subject
I think... We're probably from different worlds. Or something like that. Have you ever heard of Mt. Ebott?
[Because if he had, he would have been one of the first. They certainly don't expect it by now though.]
no subject
[Short and sweet. Sorry, kid.]
"Other worlds" is storybook talk. That's not how things work.
no subject
Okay, but I bet I remember stuff happening where I come from that you've never even heard of.
no subject
[The dismissive tone is strong.]
How old are you, even? Eight, maybe? Ten?
no subject
[Eleven actually, but they'd had one birthday right before coming to Norfinbury and one right after. And now they might start sounding a little annoyed because here we were again. Here was the only thing an adult could apparently see while looking at them: that they were young.]
Well did the barrier just break freeing monsters from the Underground on your world too?
no subject
[That should answer their question just fine, right? Right.]
no subject
[While there's nothing rude about their tone, per se, there is a bit harder of an edge to it now. It's a pretty personal thing that he's being so callous and dismissive of.]
Besides, your world doesn't sound very fun if you can get too old to tell stories.
no subject
Life isn't fun.
pre-preemptively slapping up a transphobia/bigotry cw here
[Not boy. Not girl. Not exactly.]
And sure it's not, if you think like that. But you gotta make your fun and happy moments, even when it's hard.
[Monsters in the Underground were a prime example for that. Trapped down there, in an environment with no sun, no sky, trying so hard not to feel hopeless, and yet they'd still done a lot to make the best of things.]
cw: transphobia/bigotry/racism/etc possible the rest of this thread
[He could get by calling goblins or wyverns or even elves by "they", if they really wanted to be treated like animals so badly. But this kid lacks the normal verbal tells of the former two races, and he doubts the kid is stupid enough to spill about being an elf.]
That's a good way to get taken advantage of, "kid". [It's horribly condescending.] You can't escape from the reality of the world like that without expecting people to treat you like you're insane. It's a pathetic way to meet an end.
no subject
[Which... isn't entirely a thing they're happy about, as the topic reminds them how much their jokes about wanting to be a monster aren't actually jokes.]
no subject
Or are you existing in make believe about that, too?
no subject
[That's... not exactly the truth. There were plenty of people who were asses about it back home too. A couple of Frisk's foster siblings had frequently asked that very question. Some of them almost word-for-word.]
no subject
[It's clear cut and completely defined in his mind. This child must just be either far too imaginative or very stupid.]
Now are you going to keep wasting my time with this, or are we done?
no subject
Do you really think nobody else has ever said that before?
I came here 'cause I wanted to help. I've been here over three months now. A lot longer than a lotta people here. I wrote the anomaly guide with Mom.
But whatever. There's lotsa other people talking to you already.
[Those people can do it, then. Frisk doubts he's going to believe anything they have to say now anyway.]
no subject
Don't bother me again.
[And just like that, the audio cuts out.
He doesn't have the time for this garbage.]
video;
Young man. Given you've awakened in a new place with no explanation of how you were taken or why you've been taken, it would not hurt you to listen. Even if the voice offering you advice is a young one. Take a moment to take your head out of your ass. It could help you see considerably clearer.
I ask you not to speak to my child like that ever again. I will not tolerate it.
video; private
No way in hell is he having the brat come in for a rescue, so on goes the filter.]
Stop being so soft with him and that voice of his might carry farther.
He approached me and can learn from it. Taking that away for the sake of protection is idiocy.
video;
Given your dismissive behavior, excuse me if I do not take your parenting advice to heart, young man.
This is not a learning situation as much as an adult speaking down to a child because they can. Frisk tried to explain something be it boggling at first and you outright dismissed them. I can sympathize with not grasping something outside of what you are used to, but it does not negate your behavior.
audio; private - PRETEND THAT LAST ONE WAS AUDIO TOO SWEATS FOREVER
People aren't always going to agree with him. [Deliberately ignoring the correction now - cool, mom's in on it, too. He's growing less impressed by the second.] They aren't going to believe him most of the time, especially at that age, and even if they do, he'll still have to find ways to express things and explain himself without having to run back to dear, sweet mother for help.
Don't fight someone else's battles just because you're a parent.
video; shh it was always audio >_>
They can express themselves far better than you have today. Even with my intrusion upon this conversation. Frisk did not ask for my aid here, I stepped in because I cannot tolerate how you've decided to shove aside given information. This place is dangerous, even the most prepared can die very easily here and ignoring information has a great cost.
