There's a horrific metallic screech, with a video displaying only the floor of the elementary school for a few moments. Then, it rises, showing a much more intact school than the current travelers would be used to.. Two unknown people are speaking, both women.

"Are you seeing that?"

"No I--wait, yes. What are those?"

"Get it on video, quick."

The display jerks down another hallway. None of the lights are on; the only point of light is the distant illumination of the other end of the hallway, where the lights still work. Shadows seem to shift and twitch--no, shadows are shifting and twitching. Darker than the gloomy surroundings, humanoid shadows can be seen. They're twitching and wandering aimlessly in the middle of the hallway.

Once the camera really focuses on them, though, their heads all turn at once to face it. And, with torn apart voices, they begin to scream.

The video ends.

I didn't post this.

I found an SD card at the school. When I inserted it into my tablet, it downloaded something and then made this post with my username.

[ Back in the equipment shed with Jay, Tim is being very quiet indeed. He replays the video a couple of times - Jesus, those screams - and then puts the tablet aside. ]

This was a bad idea.

[ They're still far too close to the school for his liking. What if their meddling has woken those shadow things somehow? Is a flimsy wooden shed door really going to keep them away? ]

Really bad.

[Jay's inspecting the drawing he found, comparing the shadowy figures in it to the ones in the video.]

At least now we know not to go back in there.

[As terrified as he is, a part of him feels weirdly excited. This is, to some degree, familiar territory. He knows how to react to it.]

Yeah. Because going back into places where weird things happen is something we never do.

[ SARCASTIM IS BACK. Back and coughing painfully into his scarf, as is tradition. ]

Do you think - when the piano was playing...

[The sarcasm is getting gracefully ignored, thank you very much. Jay never goes back into weird places after things get really bad! Except when he does but shh.]

There weren't any strings in that thing. So unless we were hearing ghost music or something, it's got to have been a recording.

At this point? I'd believe ghost music.

[ Even though he really doesn't want to. ]

So... which of our theories are you leaning towards with those things? Souls of the damned, or people who've been - used up?

[Okay, having to actually think about that question puts a significant damper on any excitement he might be feeling.]

For all we know? Could be both.

I thought looking for the worst possible option was my job.

[ Though thinking about it, that wouldn't be the worst option for him personally. At least if everyone here is dead, then this isn't all Tim's fault.

Well, except in Jay's case. Because that is totally his fault forever, fuck everything. ]

Though actually... it'd be kind of weird to have things like schools in the afterlife, wouldn't it?

[What would dead children even need to learn all that stuff for?]

[ He sounds more resigned than anything else. Definitely no accusation in his tone. ]

I guess it's not like we really have a choice.

[There might be no accusation, but Jay still gives him a slightly hurt look. He doesn't like being called out on making everything worse.]

I guess we could just bury our heads in the snow and see if hiding makes anything better.

[ He offers a slightly apologetic shrug and rubs at his forehead. The cold is seriously giving him a headache. ]

I just don't want to make the same mistakes as before, you know?

[For a moment he considers saying something about avoiding getting shot again, but decides not to. That would be mean.]

I'm pretty sure we've learned from the worst mistakes we've made, at least.

Yeah. Neither of us has accepted a part in a terrible student film yet.

More of those strange cards I've been hearing of. What could have happened here? What are those things? No demon I know of has ever made a sound like that.
