Hello, this is Ginger!

[A typical opening from the blonde. She smiles and waves at the camera, chipper as ever.]

So, like, I was totally playing around with my tablet and ended up in the Data App! Did anybody see--oh! Hold on, Clayton, um...

[The feed cuts out as Ginger apparently asks Clayton for help with something, and then when it's back she has a link to what she's about to reference:

"The video isn't very long--it seems like something may have gotten corrupted in the file, giving the abrupt way it cuts in and out of the scene. However, it does show a film of a woman sewing together large triangles of fabric."]

I noticed this fuzzy clip of this lady sewing! I don't know if, like, where ever this video takes place might have fabric...but it made me remember! I was told that there's a house with sewing supplies somewhere around the store, and I really want to check it out! Maybe these things are related? And even if they're not, I'm sure I can use whatever I find there to make things for everyone, like I've been trying to do!

[She looks delighted, like this is going to be such a swell adventure!]

I was talking to Clayton about it, and he brought up a good point that I could use some company to make the trip more fun! And he's really busy with, like, doctor stuff, so he has to stay here. Is anyone around the house with the hot water by the school? You know, the one that we're kind of trying to turn into a clinic? If you are, and you're interested in coming with me, please let me know! I'm not in a huge hurry, I think I want to go in the next few days but I can wait.

[She looks thoughtful.]

I'm not very close to the school, but I think I may have passed through the house you're referring to earlier today.

Which store do you mean? There's one northwest of the school and one northwest of the chapel. We're on our way to the latter to replenish our food supplies.

[It seems easier to respond to England's text with more text instead of turning the feed back on. This may be worse for England in her lack of grammatical prowess, but he's probably used to that from America.]

Indeed. The one by the school doesn't restock food regularly, to my knowledge.

I can't show you the interior of the house, as we've moved on, but we'll be returning tomorrow. I sew, as well, so I've been interested in finding supplies. I can message you tomorrow with images of what's inside, if you're interested. It's just a bit southwest of the store with the food.

[England can't tell, of course, because they're corresponding through text, but Ginger squeals in absolute delight at the response. So many good things are happening now that all the bad things are done!]

Of course. It's a valuable skill to have, particularly when winter attire is in such short supply. I don't know that it's the house you've been told of, but I did see a load of fashion magazines and sewing supplies, so it may serve your purposes nonetheless.

[A small pause, as he considers something.]

I'll provide you with directions, as well, and I'll try to build a landmark outside of the house. You won't be able to miss it.

Even if nothing is there now, supplies in this town seem to change every now and then. If you check back later you might find something new. I'll let you know if I find anything relevant to that video.

It's not terribly out of the way. We're headed in that direction, regardless, and I'm sure my companions will be delighted to help me set up a landmark for you.

Any sort of glove would be nice, to tell you the truth. The youngest member of our group has a pair, but America and I haven't had much luck. I've got fabric and scissors, but no needle and thread. I've also got knitting needles and yarn, yet it's not enough to make more than one pair. Wish I could remember where that bloody house is.

[What perfect timing for this conversation! By now, Ginger's been approached by Leon with his wonderful, oh-so-thoughtful gift!]

That's a good idea! Thank you! It's kind of, like, hard to see much, but I'll give it another go! It's worth a shot, anyway. And even if I get the wrong one, I'm sure I can see find plenty of useful things to use for sewing. It's totally a super win-win situation!

[Alas, it has more to do with typing involving very cold fingers. But if it makes her more cooperative that is a bonus. This is Ginger after all; he doesn't expect much from her powers of comprehension, so it's good to be clear.]

Even the colour of the wallpaper is a clue. The direction from which the light falls can tell of the direction of the window... but yes, there is nothing to lose by checking both houses. [Well, technically...]

Except time and the ever-present possibility of a gory death, of course.

[Because he is ever so kind, Beckett refrains from voicing his opinion about the idea of Detective Ginger. He does have a thing or two to say about positive thinking, though.]

Of course you are. And by the power of positive thinking, you will survive walking blindly into a monster or being locked outside during the night... that was sarcasm, by the way.

[Better make it clear or Clayton would kill him when she dies due to taking him literally.]

[Beckett's words...well, they just make her frown! Even if he did reign in his most mocking remarks.]

I didn't say that. I know better than to just, like, wish bad stuff away when it does happen. I just don't see the point in being a total grump about everything! There's no way of knowing whether or not I'll run into, like, anything. So... how's assuming the worst is gonna happen going to make anything better?

You might not have heard, but that is what we call "planning" and "caution". Being prepared for disaster normally involves thinking about it in advance. So sorry if that doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

[Considering that the other option is making her feel cold and dead outside, he's doing her a favour.]

I'm sure you can. In your case, however, I'm still worried about the actual thinking part. About this, or in general.

[Extra ouch, for sure. Beckett definitely struck a nerve with that one, but not the kind of nerve that would make her more frustrated. She goes quiet on her end. Probably more quiet than he's used to her being because, well, she's rarely quiet. Or at least quiet in a way that's almost tense.]

Please don't say that. I think about a lot of things.

[The silence does give him pause. Hitting people where it hurts is the Kindred national sport, but much as Beckett might enjoy getting a rise out of people, he is not, at heart, a bully.

There is moment's silence, and then a long-suffering sigh.]

Don't go alone. Make sure that you are fully stocked on supplies before taking up a long-term goal, since you never know when the weather will change and make the trip longer than you expect. Film the houses you pass on the way, someone might have gone that way before and would have directions for you. What else...

[He trails off, trying to think of more useful advice for the detective in training.]

[While Beckett thinks, Ginger's quiet again. But he'll be able to hear noise through her tablet as she opens her bag and pulls out what sounds like paper and a pen and starts to write. Clearly, she's taking notes, actually seriously listening to the things he's telling her. Surprising? A little. Maybe a bit more than a little.]

Someone already offered to go with me, and someone else who's been to the house I'm planning on reaching is going to send me instructions on getting there. So there'll be, like, a landmark for me to look out for.

[Everything she's saying is good, reasonable, but it sounds almost defeated. Like being so...serious about a serious situation is detrimental to her health. Maybe it is. Okay, it's not, but she just wanted to put a fun spin on...potential death by blizzard!]

We're planning on stopping at the school for food, first, and Leon's going to try and, like, map out the places we go to. I didn't think about filming, that's a good idea. Thank you.

[Yes, going about things seriously isn't a lot of fun, is it? Not that Beckett cares. He hasn't had fun in...

Not that long, actually. He remembers how that was. The search and nothing but the search. Not having to worry about half the things, a tenth of the things he has to worry about in Norfinbury, like hunger and cold and... well. And having time. But that ended and it isn't coming back. So why should he have any lenience for other people's naivete?]

And do keep in mind that you are not only looking for sewing supplies. It is possible that this video was filmed for a reason. If you haven't yet started taking the time to search the houses you pass through, you should do so now. If you really do hope to be useful.

[He reached the group the day before, even if he was rather exhausted and basically fell asleep as soon as he had a chance. Anyway, since he spent most of his time traveling an hoarding items... there he is. having too many things in his backpack would be a pain

[Leon is hungry, really hungry after three days without food.

[Ginger looks up when Leon addresses her and stands. The surprise on her face quickly turns to delight.]

Well! Aren't you just the biggest sweetheart? [She takes the offered supplies with one hand and comes in for a hug with the other. Unless he stops her, of course.] That would be wonderful! Just don't let me tear you away from something important.

[Biggest sweetheart- mphf! It's not like he was planning to use those items anyway, Ginger there's no need to hug him of all things. Yet, after days of no limited contact and the last few ones dealing with sensory deprivation even this is welcome. Not that the man is going to openly acknowledge it...]

I will just head in a different direction after you're gone. [He pauses for a moment] If you have some food to share I may actually even start traveling today if that's the plan, and take the road once we're in the northern area.

Leon? That's, like, almost Lion! How majestic!

[She laughs cheerfully as she pulls back from her hug, clapping her hands together.]

Mmm...well, I don't have anything that's not part of the stuff we got last time someone went out and restocked at the school. Hey! How about, like, we go tomorrow morning? We can go to the school right away. Oh, you're so nice! I can't wait!

[Like this is some fun field trip instead of them walking out into a freezing cold wasteland. She's just thinking...positive! Everything can be fun with the right sort of company!
