[log] Monster Mash [semi-open]
Characters: Clayton, Enoch, Dio, House, Miranda, Clem, and Quark
Location P10 - BUILDING 110
Date: Day 041, evening
Summary: Gas Station slumber party! Following a monster attack.
Warnings: Will add as necessary, but general House disclaimer for insensitivity.
[The evening is drawing in around them as Miranda and House make their way toward the gas station. It's a somewhat familiar road to tread, at least, and there's the promise of his meds at the end of it... also people to distract the irritating woman walking with him from his company.
Epps should be good for that. He seems like the sort.
There's a sudden hiss from somewhere behind them, when they're still a good distance from the building. House glances back, then does a double-take when he sees a four-legged shadow monster pounding across the snow after them. That... what is that? It doesn't look like a robot. It doesn't look anything but absolutely real.]
Six o'clock!
[The words are snapped out as House turns, gauging the thing's speed. It's moving too fast for him to reach the gas station in time, which means improvising.]

House can't exactly sprint these days, but he makes a bid for it on instinct... and promptly has his leg collapse on him as his cane skids across the hard-packed snow.
He'd swear - loudly - but would rather not draw the creature's attention back to them. House does his best to drag himself up with his cane, teeth gritted. It's not even the pain that's bothering him here. It's absolute frustration that he's putting himself and at least two other people in danger because he can't just pick up and run like he should be able to. He snaps at Miranda in the event she might be lingering:]
Go! Get inside.

It's a good thing Clayton's drawing the monster - there's no way any help would be able to reach House if it had still been on them.]

And everything was going so smoothly too. Dammit.]

Clayton! [Should she throw her hammer to him? She looks like she's about to either do just that, or else try and hit the thing with it herself.]
no subject
[At least Miranda's going inside and Enoch and Dio are both going for House. Priorities seem to be in order there. Clayton calls after them anyways, just to make himself feel better.]
Enoch, Dio--get both arms, bring 'em in! [He's having to pick up the pace now. Walking quickly backwards is not going to cut it, not this time.] I'll lead it 'round, somebody hold the door so I--Clem!
[Jesus fucking H Christ on a cracker what is she doing outside and running towards them fuck fuck fuck]
[For the first time this entire encounter, Clayton raises his voice in a sharp shout.]
Clementine, get inside! Git! Go! Watch Quark!
[And that's all he has time for. The monster is rapidly gaining ground, close enough that a pang of dizziness and nausea makes Clayton stumble, but he regains his footing quickly and turns it into a spin around the corner of the gas station. His shadowy friend diligently follows him and they both disappear behind the wall.]

You, Beefcake! Get the damn kid inside!
[House snaps at Enoch or Dio or whom ever happens to be closest to the small, idiotic little girl who's decided she wants to play monster slayer. He's up on his feet again, limping as quickly as he can while trying to place his cane on the hard-packed snow without it slipping again. It's frustratingly slow going, and whether it's Enoch or Dio who reaches him, he'll reach out to grab their upper arm for support so that he can try to move faster.]
no subject
Dio, help him!
[He calls out as he passes Dio, picking up into a sprint at Clem.]
Clem, stop! Get inside!
[If she doesn't turn around and do so, he's going to scoop her up in passing to haul her in - or try to, at least. If she's dead set on trying to help, she could certainly try to dodge too.]
no subject
Unfortunately, even if they're going a bit faster with Dio's help, it's still a little too slow for his liking, so guess who's being hoisted up and carried so Dio can skedaddle out of here like a running back heading toward a goal post? Yeah, sorry House. Although, maybe that's a good decision, because even though Dio lets out a pretty surprised grunt from underestimating how much he'd have to lift, he's still quite fast and doesn't slip or step anywhere wrong even once with all the extra weight. Lucky you!]
no subject
We need to kill it! [Are you guys not getting that?
In any case, she's not about to struggle too much if Enoch still takes her inside, that'd probably just make things worse. But she is quietly judging all of you for not trying to hit that thing with something or stop it in its tracks.]

[House has never been swept off his feet metaphorically or literally. He's a very tall man, and most don't have the inclination or muscle mass to be able to do that. So, when 80's Kid hauls him into a bridal carry, his first instinct is to squirm. That gets shoved down quickly, though, as he can already tell they're moving faster.
It's horribly humiliating, but he grits his teeth and turns in toward Dio to wrap an arm around the other man's neck for extra support and security that he won't be dropped flat. The moment they make it inside, though, House lets go.]
Put me down, Coverdale. Now. [The words are bitten out, angry and embarrassed.
no subject
[Enoch doesn't elaborate until he's set her inside, where he holds the door open for Dio, House, and Miranda.]
Their presence alone is debilitating, we wouldn't be able to get near enough to try.
[Just from following too soon after Clayton, the monster started his nose bleeding, in fact, and it wasn't even going after him.]
