[log] Monster Mash [semi-open]

Characters: Clayton, Enoch, Dio, House, Miranda, Clem, and Quark
Location P10 - BUILDING 110
Date: Day 041, evening
Summary: Gas Station slumber party! Following a monster attack.
Warnings: Will add as necessary, but general House disclaimer for insensitivity.

[The evening is drawing in around them as Miranda and House make their way toward the gas station. It's a somewhat familiar road to tread, at least, and there's the promise of his meds at the end of it... also people to distract the irritating woman walking with him from his company.

Epps should be good for that. He seems like the sort.

There's a sudden hiss from somewhere behind them, when they're still a good distance from the building. House glances back, then does a double-take when he sees a four-legged shadow monster pounding across the snow after them. That... what is that? It doesn't look like a robot. It doesn't look anything but absolutely real.]

Six o'clock!

[The words are snapped out as House turns, gauging the thing's speed. It's moving too fast for him to reach the gas station in time, which means improvising.]

[The commotion outside draws more than just Clayton; Enoch peeks out the door at the racket they're making - is the woman glowing? Is the man with the cane trying to command the monster? That strikes him as more odd than Miranda's glowing, actually, and it's a good thing his attention was on him. The moment he sees him try to run, he's out the door, monster or no, hurrying to help him without a word.

It's a good thing Clayton's drawing the monster - there's no way any help would be able to reach House if it had still been on them.]

[What in the blue blazing fuck is going on out here!? Dio follows Enoch out of curiosity to see what's happening, and first Clayton is running around trying to distract a monster apparently, then Enoch runs out, which makes Dio almost instinctively follow him for reasons he'd try to rationalize later as People In Their Group Dying Would Be Inconvenient.

And everything was going so smoothly too. Dammit.]

Back inside! [ Miranda shouts at Dio as she sprints for House at the same time as Enoch, completely ignoring the doctor's orders. There are suddenly too many unknowns piling up at once, and getting a few of them back inside to safety would do a whole lot to improve the situation. Enoch at least looks big enough to handle House's weight, which means she's going to waste no time getting through that door herself. If Clayton wants to have a monster chase him around, he's welcome to it. ]

[Of course Clementine is quick to follow Enoch and Dio, her hammer in hand. She's not exactly surprised Clayton's run off to try and distract the monster.]

Clayton! [Should she throw her hammer to him? She looks like she's about to either do just that, or else try and hit the thing with it herself.]

[Clayton's in Miranda's boat here--this is getting out of hand very quickly and there's so little he can do about it that it's almost painful to watch. The fact that the monster kind of is the situation and he's guiding it around doesn't really occur to him; all he can think about is how it moves so much faster than the one at the sports shed, and how it's forcing him away from the door, around the corner.]

[At least Miranda's going inside and Enoch and Dio are both going for House. Priorities seem to be in order there. Clayton calls after them anyways, just to make himself feel better.]

Enoch, Dio--get both arms, bring 'em in! [He's having to pick up the pace now. Walking quickly backwards is not going to cut it, not this time.] I'll lead it 'round, somebody hold the door so I--Clem!

[Jesus fucking H Christ on a cracker what is she doing outside and running towards them fuck fuck fuck]

[For the first time this entire encounter, Clayton raises his voice in a sharp shout.]

Clementine, get inside! Git! Go! Watch Quark!

[And that's all he has time for. The monster is rapidly gaining ground, close enough that a pang of dizziness and nausea makes Clayton stumble, but he regains his footing quickly and turns it into a spin around the corner of the gas station. His shadowy friend diligently follows him and they both disappear behind the wall.]

[Enoch is not the closest to Clem. But he is the one who reacts first the moment he hears one of the children is in trouble. He twists mid-run, skidding and kicking up looser snow as he staggers into a recovered rush for the errant girl.]

Dio, help him!

[He calls out as he passes Dio, picking up into a sprint at Clem.]

Clem, stop! Get inside!

[If she doesn't turn around and do so, he's going to scoop her up in passing to haul her in - or try to, at least. If she's dead set on trying to help, she could certainly try to dodge too.]

[Already on it, Enoch. Never fear, House, the lead singer of Poison or whatever 80s music reference you're into right now is here. No time for pleasantries at the moment, let's go go go!

Unfortunately, even if they're going a bit faster with Dio's help, it's still a little too slow for his liking, so guess who's being hoisted up and carried so Dio can skedaddle out of here like a running back heading toward a goal post? Yeah, sorry House. Although, maybe that's a good decision, because even though Dio lets out a pretty surprised grunt from underestimating how much he'd have to lift, he's still quite fast and doesn't slip or step anywhere wrong even once with all the extra weight. Lucky you!]

[Clementine halts when Clayton and just about everyone else starts yelling at her, no worries there. She's not heading in quite yet though. None of these people even have a weapon - what are they doing?/small>]

We need to kill it! [Are you guys not getting that?

In any case, she's not about to struggle too much if Enoch still takes her inside, that'd probably just make things worse. But she is quietly judging all of you for not trying to hit that thing with something or stop it in its tracks.

We can't.

[Enoch doesn't elaborate until he's set her inside, where he holds the door open for Dio, House, and Miranda.]

Their presence alone is debilitating, we wouldn't be able to get near enough to try.

[Just from following too soon after Clayton, the monster started his nose bleeding, in fact, and it wasn't even going after him.]
