[network] @ADMIN; Obituary [Day 036]

We mourn the loss of those who have died in the time between the last announcement and this one:

Zelda
Stephanie Brown
rubikscomplex: (srs | considering)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2015-09-14 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
is there anyone you WOULDN'T mourn the loss of?
i mean
i just want to know how much you guys care
does @admin love ALL the little children?
also i don't know those people
why should i mourn them?
they could be total jerks

[Yes, he's bored, has only found a can of dogfood today, and felt like harassing the admin with pointless messages.]

We could also be alive now.

[ Hi bored, I'm Dad. ]

[ Go away, Dad. ]

even less of a reason to mourn
so which one are you?
spoileralert: (can i stand up now)

[personal profile] spoileralert 2015-09-14 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Stephanie. As far as I know Zelda hasn't come back yet. [ That 'yet' is for Link's sake, poor thing. ]

I'm alright with not being mourned, on account of also not being dead.

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2015-09-14 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
too bad
zelda sounds like a fairy tale princess
though if you're a cute co-ed
i could live with that

how'd you fake kick it?

Most high schools are co-ed. [ For a delightful change of pace she has no info on this person, so this clever comment carries no extra meaning. ]

Some monsters got the jump on me. Which is probably better than freezing to death, but I don't really want to test that theory.
rubikscomplex: (neutral | looking up)

text

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2015-09-14 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
damn
jailbait

any chance you can tell me what it felt like when the monsters got ahold of you?
actual physical sensations
spoileralert: (my life is so hard)

text

[personal profile] spoileralert 2015-09-14 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I would say thanks but you don't actually know what I look like?

It felt a lot like getting punched in the nose and dosed with narcotics at the same time.
rubikscomplex: (getting somewhere | rly now)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2015-09-18 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
i'm guessing
you type like a conscientious young woman of intelligence whose mind is really the more attractive draw
i use cute for everybody
but what do i know?
you could be carmen electra-levels of hot
you went to the physical quick, spoilers
kids these days!
get your mind out of the gutter

[ But he does buckle down with slightly more seriousness at her description. ]

interesting
did it actually feel like you were being injected, or just the effects?

spoileralert: (smug grin)

text

[personal profile] spoileralert 2015-09-18 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Now that I can take as a compliment. Spoiler alert: you're the jailfish in this hypothetical.

No injection. No punch in the face either. I don't remember any of the fighting, now that I think of it. Just being grabbed.
rubikscomplex: (srs | glances)

text

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2015-09-19 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, the description is more interesting than the teasing.]

but you got something physically taking hold of you
long shot, but can you remember if it felt at all metallic?
we've got a bet going on the spiders
i'm guessing animatronics
someone else thinks they're actually spiders
who apparently live in sub-zero temperatures and grow to the size of dogs
spoileralert: (dubious)

text

[personal profile] spoileralert 2015-09-20 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Not metallic, no. If they're robots they've got some intense costume design. But it was one of the shadow-zombie-people-things, so there's still hope for robo-spiders

roborachnids

...

eh, I tried.
rubikscomplex: (sdf)

text

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2015-09-20 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
arobonids?
arachnirobs?
spidertronics?

robo-spiders works best
definitely

might have been hallucinogenics in effect for the sensations you were getting
were you actually in a house when it caught you or outside?
spoileralert: (headachey)

text

[personal profile] spoileralert 2015-09-21 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
I was outside. The damned thing came out of nowhere.

I guess it's possible I was drugged and don't remember it. Caveman logic would be that it killed me by touching me. Sci-fi sensationalist logic would be that I'm a clone or a robot programmed with my memories up to that moment and laid out in the morgue as though I had died.

It probably says something about what this place does to you that I find all of these theories equally believable.
rubikscomplex: (not impressed | go away)

text

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2015-09-22 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
let's go with that first theory
the one about the drugs
it has the benefit of not being stupid

fun, though
might have been some kind of delayed effect
and it could explain how our shadow buddy popped out of nowhere
spoileralert: annoyed, angry (* shut up harper)

text

[personal profile] spoileralert 2015-09-23 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Hell if I know. I'm working at continuing to trust my senses. My perception of logic has gone a little sideways.

I don't mean to seem insensitive but I hardly see the reason for the obituaries in the first place if death isn't permanent. Apparently @admin has never heard of the boy who cried wolf.

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2015-09-14 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
it's okay, buddy
i don't think you're being insensitive
i GET you
heart to hart

i'm guessing it's some kind of intimidation factor
this town had some sort of uprising going on
gotta hunger games it up with the tributes names across the sky
signet: (020)

[personal profile] signet 2015-09-15 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that the one about children killing one another? A grim comparison; best not give Big Brother any ideas.

[Not that it matters because, again, death isn't permanent. Somehow. Harry still hasn't figured out how that works.]

But you're right - they likely want to reinforce the idea that they're the ones in control. Typical megalomania. Kidnapping alone isn't satisfying enough.
rubikscomplex: (srs | hmm)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2015-09-18 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
i'm not sure dystopian sci-fi future is much better
have you been practicing your newspeak?
this all seems ungood
doubleplusungood, for sure

[ Whichever hellish setting they're stuck in, House would really like to be out of it now. ]

might also be some sort of automated system
the robot overlords keeping a tally of the number of times they have to "revive" us from the dead

[personal profile] signet 2015-09-19 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
If "doubleplusungood" is "newspeak" for fucking terrible, then I agree.

[It's all fucking terrible. All of it.]

Yes. It could be a tally, with the added bonus of reminding us that they're the ones in control. Vengeful gods, so to speak, controlling who lives and who dies.

[This guy has a good sense of scope. Excellent.]

something like that
i think big brother stopped the swearing

the question is, is there something we can do to screw with their system?
make them think somebody died when they didn't?
hide a body so they can't count it?

can't trust you either way, really

[ Undeterred, and far too blunt to try to match someone in a game of semantics, Link responds in short, sharp sentences that don't necessarily show how angry he is that someone could suggest it. ]

She just wasn't.

[ There was a lot he could give to this. So much he could say about her, so much she deserved to be praised for. But he's never been good with words, and he just says the simplest thing he thinks of. ]

She saved Hyrule.

[ The Sacred Realm was The Sacred Realm. He's not that sure how to respond to this list of names. Or what he meant by 'pick a religion', either. This whole conversation was twisting further and further away from Link's original point and he begins to wonder if he's being made fun of. ]

It's The Sacred Realm. That's its name.

tapferkeit: (pic#8421737)

[personal profile] tapferkeit 2015-09-20 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
It's called 'The Sacred Realm.' That's what it's called. That's it's name.
