[log] New Year's Mingle [open]
Characters: Anyone in the Bunker
Location: Bunker
Date: Let's go with January...
Summary: Mingling in the Bunker
Warnings: Add to subject line!
[All of the rooms within the Bunker have been opened. The latest, Room 19, contains computer parts. They'll need to use those, the soldering gun and other equipment in that room to create some sort of interface with the last locked door in Room 4. There are cables to connect up to the tablets, so maybe that will help, as well. And they still have other computers in Room 24 and 26 to use.
There are other things to be about, as well. The Bunker is, as ever, cold, slightly glowing, and moldy. And there are plenty of other rooms to check in on.]

Exactly. It's an idea Holmes--the older one--talked about a while back. He mentioned for quantum computers, you need it to be cold, like nearly at absolute zero levels of cold. So, we know we're the first group to make it into the Bunker.
Maybe the state never set in here because no one actually found the answers.

[ He's basically support staff at this point. Gathering supplies, playing pack mule, and being available to fetch and carry as needed. ]

Mm... just as long as there isn't actually some Norfinbury beast or whatever. I told Beckett I'd eat my hat if there was. Do you know what wool does to a guy's throat?
[He retreats into humor where the fear of not knowing how to actually proceed or help can't hurt him.]

Alright I think I've got about a little over a dozen useable syringes here.

There's a cabinet on the ground toward the back that has band-aids all around it. Bet I can get two gauze rolls together before you finish playing 52 card pick-up with what got dumped on the floor over there.
[You were kind of asking for that, Will.]
no subject
It would just encourage House.
Instead, he hopped nimbly over towards the cabinet. ]
Fool's bet. You're down a wheel and your obsessive compulsive disorder means you'll be unable to finish a roll unless it's perfectly lined up. Got this one in the bag!
[ Sometimes, Will was a horrible human being. ]

[All of them. All of them who have not been here in Norfinbury for months and witnessed some mild tendencies devolve into incredibly unhealthy coping methods. Damn you, Will Graham!]
Loser has to take the tablets out to charge up tomorrow.
[He starts rolling furiously, using the stump of his arm to hold the roll in place as he tries to wind it so it isn't uneven. When it doesn't quite work? House hates that he has to unroll it a little and try again to get it right.]

You can enjoy freezing your butt off for once. [ Will boasted because that was part of the game, but they both knew exactly who would go outside with the tablets in the morning.
While the ex-profiler was doing his best not to treat House like an invalid, there were some situations where it was not only foolish, but idiotically reckless to ignore the situation. Having House stand out in the cold, at risk from anomalies, trying to juggle two tablets was the latter. ]

[Like you do.]
cw: ableist language
Can you limp handstand? I mean, maybe if you stuffed a glove it would work to keep you even while you're walking backwards uphill on your hands. Sorry, hand.
[ It was rib the hell out of House, or stumble under the weight of his own guilt for what had happened and the loss of House's hand. Will was certain he'd never forget the screaming, from when the hand had to come off.
For now, he held up his hand, tiny bandages sticking out around his fist. ]
52.

People used to respect cripples more, y'know? Come over here. Lemme take a closer look.
[Let him knock them out of your hands, Will.]
I don't trust your math.

You remember when you videotaped my sudden Prophet tattoo and then let me crash around thinking it had suddenly appeared, when in truth you had video of me doing it to myself?
[ Yep, he is still bringing that up. ]
I won the bet, but like I said we both know I'm going to end up out there anyway.

And I'll go out tomorrow. Don't be a mother hen. I can stand around holding a couple of tablets if I keep the Bunker door open.
[He might not like losing, but he'll eat his loss.]
