No, no, slag isn't corrosive. It'd be green if it was.

It weakens things in a different way - it sorta destabilises the basic makeup of whatever it's applied to? Which means you can then damage the slagged material more easily with other things. Or it can cause mutations when taken internally. But generally it's only moderately dangerous by itself? You don't really get people dying from slag exposure.
