At this rate, it really would be easier to just shoot the two of them. Too bad about the weapons thing.]Who cares who's a "replacement". You're the one doing that,
[A nod towards Squalo-- causing nosebleeds should obviously outweigh speech when it comes to proving what this Angel-looking thing is. Come on.]
so say what you have to and leave.
[Using that whole scene to gauge a safe distance, Xanxus will start forward after all. Not that his approach looks cautious. If anything, he seems more threatening.
Intimidating an anomaly into submission is totally a way around not being able to fight them, right?]no subject
I'm sorry, you seem to be under the impression that I'll take orders from you. I won't. And I'd really rather not hurt you, or anyone, so maybe settle down a little?
[ She somehow manages to sound genuinely apologetic and really patronising at the same time. It's a talent. She focuses on Squalo again, and geez - the nosebleed is pretty bad, huh? Oh well. He's had worse. He can suck it up IT'S FINE ]
I have seen myself, yes. Miller did this to me. To make me hurt people, presumably, which is what I've been doing. And you promised to keep me from doing that! You promised.
So I just. Need you to come with me. Until I'm not dangerous any more.
[ Now it's Angel's turn to mouth 'bad idea' as the anomaly waits for a response. Not that she expects anyone to pay attention because this is going to escalate isn't it, it always effing does, why does she spend so much time with these assholes, eff her life, ]
no subject
[ He straightens up, actually stepping closer to Anomalygel, except any doubt's completely gone from him, and he's baring his teeth at her through the blood stream. ]
How about I keep you from it permanently, right the fuck now?!
no subject
Does she even know who she's talking to? Xanxus wouldn't be showing nearly this much restraint if he wasn't aware contact would knock him out.He gives a disgusted look at those words, finding the defiance more frustrating than the situation itself. It stops his advance, though. Fingers idly clench against the edge of a nearby table-- could that make a decent weapon?-- before he turns his attention back to Squalo. An added harshness to his expression should signal that he wants to see him follow through on that threat.
Or, well, try to, anyway. More like find out exactly how close they can get before the anomaly-related effects are too powerful as opposed to just inconvenient. Succeeding would be a bonus.]
cw: allusions to attempted suicide
[ That prompts a 'shut up' from Angel, who manages to take a furious half-step towards the anomaly before her nose starts bleeding again. Goddarn it.
Predictably, the anomaly gives no fucks. She's still watching Squalo, and also remains blissfully unaware of any potential furniture-based attacks that might be coming in her future. Ruh-roh. ]
Attacking me will only tire you out, and possibly get you badly hurt. Do you still want to do this?
no subject
[ It's almost spat out, but it's clear that he does still intend to honor it. ]
[ Except, uh. The solemnity of the scene may be ruined a little while Squalo looks around, then quickly runs to retreive his bag and dig through it. ]
[ He makes it back with a giant-ass cultist cleaver in hand, weighing it experimentally before he swipes it at that goddamn long neck with the intent to lob Anomalygel's head off without any warning. ]
no subject
Waiting to see how that attack plays out, Xanxus will move to shove the table towards the anomaly whether it worked or not.
Throwing it might be more satisfying, but, well, physics are kind of different here than back home...]
no subject
Ow. That's - that's pretty uncomfortable, actually.
[ Perhaps more so because the wound is healing around the cleaver, meaning it might get kinda stuck there unless Squalo tugs it out. Gross. Gross gross gross.
The table assault seems slightly more effective, though. Kind of. It doesn't wound the anomaly, but it knocks her back further than you might expect - apparently she isn't as heavy as she looks? It almost seems like she's going to retaliate, bracing herself against the table to shove it right back, but instead she just pushes it carefully out of her way as Bester comes into view. ]
Oh, crap. Um - don't let him touch me.
no subject
[ Squalo tugs and presses on the cleaver, definitely trying to force it through despite the visible confusion and then irritation that follows. ]
What the fuck just happened? This, yeah, see this fucker should go through bones no problem. [ It is a giant, cult-variety cleaver after all. Probably half a guilliotine, and yet it's just been stopped by a thin, wonky neck. How is that sane. He shoots an offended look at normal Angel. ] Is that a Siren thing?
[ that shit's gonna become a meme isn't it ]
[ but also when he can't force it through he will eventually rip it back out. leaving it there before it has the chance to get through anything vital just seems inconvenient. ]
not here

[Okay, even Xanxus seems surprised. Not at how ineffective the attacks were, though. It's the opposite.
The guides were wrong. Talking up anomalies like that... For what? To make fools of those who hadn't encountered any yet? There was never any question that the others in this town were weak, but...
He seems to growl before advancing again. The dizziness, the bleeding, they're only inconvenient, no longer deterring him from moving into range.
If this thing can't be cut apart, there's no reason to let its target stay so close. So his first move isn't to attack again just yet, but rather grab Squalo by his hair and pull him back. It'll be easier to fight without anyone in the way.]
no subject
The anomaly makes an angry, rattling, clicking growl of a noise (link is a little gross and has boss spoilers for the presequel) as Squalo is yanked back. Xanxus has her full attention now, so. Mission accomplished?? ]
Stop hurting him!!
[ Naturally, she punctuates her sentence with a fresh round of slag. Except this time, she's purposely spitting a torrent of it in Xanxus' direction - it's not going to hurt if it does hit him, but the weakness and nausea won't be pleasant.
Fortunately, though, her aim is a little compromised. Because regular Angel kind of thinks Xanxus was onto something with the whole furniture-based attacks thing and is sort of maybe whacking the anomaly over the head with a half-rotted-away dining chair. She was kind of hoping it'd break but she's way too wimpy for that bUT SHUT UP OKAY SHE'S TRYING HER BEST ]
no subject
[ Squalo sort of gasps as he's pulled back, though it's more surprise
and probably masochismthan pain, but any angry yelling he was about to reward Xanxus with is forgotten the moment Angelnomaly comes to his defense. ][ Which is completely uncalled for, you know. ]
Hey! Lay off!
[ He is, naturally, trying to bodily throw himself in the way despite the pretty damn solid hold on his hair, so hopefully that torrent of slag is way off course, otherwise Squalo just might get it all over him. Totally as planned, right. ]
no subject
[That's all the response this fake Angel's getting before he'll try leaning away from that.. attack? Is that what it's supposed to be? It's disgusting, in any case.
But, hey, he will let go of Squalo in the process, because damn it he's already well past his limit for bothering to protect anyone. If the shark's going to throw that effort away then he deserves whatever happens next. And if that means it's more a shield than inaccuracy that keeps Xanxus mostly dry, so be it. He's not paying attention to all that for too long, anyway, as he pulls his coat off and aims a punch towards the anomaly's face through it.
It's just direct contact they all need to avoid, right? ... Time to find out, unless she can dodge.]
no subject
Anomalygel half-turns to pull the chair out of her non-freakish counterpart's hands, which ensures that Xanxus' punch doesn't make contact quite as solidly as it could have. Which is good, because Anomalygel's more troublesome abilities work just fine through clothing-based barriers.
Imagine if they didn't and she had to strip people naked to give them death hugs, tho. hELP.ANYWAY. The punch lands - and thanks to her long neck the anomaly's head spins in a lil circle like a really fucking weirdass version of meatspin - but Xanxus' fist doesn't get too messed up. A swirl of eridium crystals tears its way across the back of his hand, but they're small enough that the damage they cause is just superficial.
They still hurt like a bitch, though. And the anomaly seems much more upset about them than she does about getting hit. ]
Oh my freaking-- That's what I've been trying to avoid, you fucking morons!!
[ Regular Angel chimes in with an "oh shit," because she can't possibly be left out of this impromptu swearstravaganza. And also because eridium is always worthy of an "oh shit" regardless of the circumstances. ]
no subject
[
Also I totally assumed that was what was happening oh no.][ As much as he'd love to run the hell away and save what little blood must be left in his head by now, there are more pressing matters at hand. Squalo just watches at first, but when he sees the purple spreading onto Xanxus' hand, he'll be grabbing him with both arms and trying to pull him back. The other man may be larger than him, but Squalo's got that bugfuck insane persistency on his side here. ]
[ He's also yelling at normal!Angel, though, because that "oh shit" seems extremely telling. ]
What do you know about that?!
no subject
Well, at least one thing he can do is struggle against Squalo's hold. Which is pulling his attention away from the real enemy. And that's the point, isn't it? ... He'll be upset about the effectiveness of the distraction later. For now,]
Get off me.
[
This would be a pretty good time for Bester to finally help out. Too bad he still seems content with only watching. There's nothing going on that isn't normal, really...]no subject
[ Unsurprisingly, Angel is a wee bit horrified at this development. The anomaly, on the other hand -- ]
What killed me, actually. Robert Miller has a terrible sense of humour, I guess.
[ It watches the Squalo-Xanxus struggle with something approaching mild interest. Probably. It's hard to tell. ]
Dude, you know you can't hurt me, and that trying hurts you. Maybe chill? [And to Squalo:] If you'd just let me slag him, this would be much easier for you. Just saying.
no subject
[ That's... probably both to Xanxus and Anomalygel, honestly. At any rate, he's shrieking it loud enough for everyone to hear, while still struggling to hold Xanxus away. If it seems like he's not trying to bodily fling himself at the anomaly again, he'll tentatively let him go; getting socked in the face for his effort does not concern him. ]
[ Meatspingel does, though. ]
Okay, you have got to leave.
no subject
Honestly, if he were still set on attacking her directly and messing up his other hand, he'd just move forward and drag Squalo. They both know what they're doing is pointless, right?But... Huh. To hear that power could've been lethal...
While it doesn't necessarily calm Xanxus down, it does lessen his resistance as his attention's brought back to his hand. Of course it hurts, but not nearly that much. That's kind of insulting, isn't it? Her using nowhere near what its full potential should be...
Well. He could keep thinking about that, but why bother when it seems like that moment is all it took to be released? The first thing to do, then, is jab an elbow back to hit Squalo.. wherever. He isn't turning around to look. He'd rather keep staring down the anomaly. So that dealt with, he raises that same, undamaged arm to wipe some of the blood off his face, before adding on to the order:]
Now.
[She'd better not think he won't grab the table again to push her out the door with it.]
no subject
[ That's to both of them. She doesn't sound remotely ruffled - her voice is as serene as that masklike fucking face - but she doesn't seem to be enjoying being a defiant little shit either.
Even though she totally is. Man, having power really can be kind of intoxicating, huh? She never really got to appreciate it before, what with the bunker and the shock collar and the dying. But now she can do whatever she wants with it! Cool. ]
I'm not leaving alone. I was promised help, and I'm here to collect. Preferably without anyone else getting hurt further - I'm sure you understand how this could get very bad, very quickly. If someone trips, or something, and hits their head against me? Ouch.
[ She could just. Reach out and poke someone with a finger or something. Just as a demonstration. Right in the forehead. Eridium spike through the brain.
But, uh, she won't. Because that would be bad. But she could! Neat!! ]
no subject
[ Okay, well, fuck. He sees where this is going. And this is a fucking awful idea, hands down. Probably his worst plan ever, and that's saying something. Abso-fucking-lutely terrible. ]
[ But this, all of this, is kind of his fault, isn't it? Nobody's pulled him by the tongue. He's told Angel he'd help her. He'd put his goddamn dick in it, alright, and sure he had no idea it would result in this very situation, but ultimately? ]
[ This is on him. Xanxus is in danger and it's on him. Angel too, though some part of him also blames her a little bit for somehow making the monster Angel into existence because how else would it have happened? Still mostly him, though. ]
...fine. [ He croaks, almost surprised at how un-loud that comes out himself at first, before scowling and fixing it. ] Fine, I'll go and we are leaving here, right now, and you [ he points at the others in turns ] are staying put and a long way away from... whatever the hell this is.
[ He turns and takes a step toward wherever direction their stuff is at. Time to get packing? ]
