Flynn frowns, looking confused over the fact that this is not helping because why isn't this helping? He was here for him, he just told him it's going to be okay, what more does he want?
Also, that is such a rude response, Peter, come on.]
Really!? Look, I didn't ask for this either? I'm trying to help here, you could... like... I need some legwork from you?
[Pause.]
Leg... ish work? Phleg work?
no subject
Peter just stares, because like, seriously, did you not see how covering his mouth with your creepy vine-root hands was like anything but terrifying?
And did you just...
FLYNN.]
Dude! Come on, man! Seriously!? You're just gonna...
[At least he stopped screaming so...success, sort of?]
How can you be okay with this! How is any of this okay!?
[There really is a lot of mud going on here right now.]
no subject
I'm... not?
[He sort of is.]
I'm not, I'm not saying I'm okay with this but, look, we're gonna, we'll figure this out, all right? Are you in pain? Because I'm not and, I'm sorry, but it feels amazing.
Besides, if you keep screaming like that we're all gonna drown in mud.
no subject
I'm not in any pain, but this isn't about pain!? I mean look at me!? I'm like that rock-thing from Star Trek that Spock got all ahhhh over!? I can't--I can't--
[He tries to reach out, something, anything, and a couple tendrils of sludge and rock slap out and hit the floor in front of them.
There's a pause.]
Okay, that's kind of cool.
[A grumble.]
Look, doesn't a plant-guy want lots of mud?
no subject
That is kind of cool. In a... slightly disturbing way.]
Yeah, but out in the open! Not down here?
no subject
Every time I talk, there goes the mud! Look, there goes more! Once we get out in the open I won't quit talkin'! How'd you like that, huh?
[Just a little bit salty here.]
no subject
[Just a little bit salty in return. He was trying to help you. It's not his fault you're a shapeless mud blob, come on??]
Do you need help getting out of here then because you're obviously not gonna quit talking anyway!
no subject
[Please accept this very aggressive assistance.]
I don't need any help getting out of here! [A beat.]
Okay! Maybe a little help! But I don't know how you're gonna do it, I weigh a literal ton.
[He tries to crawl forward, extending large bits of himself forward to pull the rest of his massive bulk along. He starts to get kind of a momentum going, at least. This is the weirdest, most awkward way of moving he's ever done and it's really a wonder he's managed not to start screaming again.]
Maybe I can pull myself outta here when we get to a trapdoor.
no subject
[He watches him for a moment slogging back and forth.]
Maybe I can grow you a ramp...
no subject
[There's a pause.]
You can do that? That's pretty sweet, man.
[Another beat.]
But I think I can pull myself up. [He says, so very confidently.]
no subject
[And he does, holding out his hands an watching vines spur and grow and entangle. Flynn smiles, excitement taking hold of him again. So much green. So much life!]
This is amazing. Can you walk on that?
[Can you walk?]
no subject
[He's just gonna jump on the excitement train with you there, pal.]
Uh...
[Not really?]
I can crawl? Maybe?
[He tries to pull himself up onto the vines, but some of him sort of...glorps off the edges and is dragged along. Look, he has no idea how to be a blob, okay.]
I think I got the hang of it?
no subject
[Part of him realizes that it's probably bad, being an anomaly, but somehow he really can't focus on that? The horror doesn't quite reach him.]
There you go, that's better.
[Flynn moves with him, trying to help him up the makeshift ramp. From time to time he gives him a push with several bigger leaves conjoined together.]
no subject
[Look, if they gotta be anomalies, might as well have really cool superpowers to go along with it.]
Thanks, bro, this is a huge help! Just a little further.
[The leaf-push is working too, he sort of caterpillar-marches up the ramp, trying not to slide off but at least the vines are a good texture to grip onto. Except now he's gotta get the trapdoor open. He reaches out with a tendril and manages to get a good grip on it, and pop it open.
And yet it still doesn't feel cold, even as he emerges out into the building, glorping over the top of the trapdoor and onto the floor.]
no subject
[Once Peter is out Flynn reaches out with his vines to grab the edges of the trapdoor and pull himself up.]
Oh, this is so convenient, if you knew how many times I could have used that on my missions...
no subject
[He's so excited for you, man. And he's pretty sure he can crush and mow things over. He feels heavy enough to, at least. He's already marching--well, very slowly sludging towards the door.]
Can you make sculptures? Can you make a vine Pac-Man? Because that would be awesome? Please bro, just for me?
no subject
[Flynn follows along, trying not to step in any mud Peter is leaving behind, out of politeness and, well, just in case that might hurt him.]
I don't know. I can give it a shot? Might be easier outside, though, it's a little cramped in here.
no subject
[There's so much mud he's leaving behind, so he's pretty sure there'll be plenty for the inevitable farmland he's going to be creating here.]
All right, I'll put on the speed!
[He doesn't have much speed.
It's very difficult to tell that he's going much faster, even though he thinks he is.]
Yeah! Here we go!
[He finally reaches the door, except...]
...could you open that for us, bro?
no subject
[Flynn follows suit, leaving some spores and outgrowths from time to time.]
Oh! Right. Hang on.
[His vines spiral and entangle into a thicker one, reaching out and pulling the door open.]
After you.
