[ Dying, while not something she's keen to experience again, is really not all that bad. it's not good, mind you. It's just... it's nothing. It's a whole lot of nothing. What has Gamora mostly annoyed is that she's got no idea where she is, and even less of a clue as to why she stuck her neck out like that and let herself get killed all for the sake of one expendable idiot.

Serves her right, probably. Going soft.

She doesn't feel like spending any more time in the stuffy funeral home than she has to, so after a quick search of the building, which doesn't reveal much of interest, she switches on the video feed on her tablet and directs the camera to her surroundings. ]

Anybody know where I am?

[ She walks herself through the large viewing area, and briefly sticks the camera into both the office and the lobby. ]

Because I have no idea.

[ For the sake of thoroughness, she does a quick once over of the morgue area, too. Just in case that's what triggers someone's recollection. ]

That's the funeral home. I've been there kind of a lot.

[ Gamora frowns sightly and taps her fingernails against the casing of her tablet, probably loud enough to be heard.

Funeral home, but not the one Peter woke up in, and obviously not the one with the collapsed wall, which unfortunately leads her to the conclusion she was hoping to avoid... ]

The one in the top left corner of the map? Just about as far away from the bunker as you can get?

Unless I’m totally wrong. It has been something like two sets of new memories since I was there last. It has a morgue, though, so I’m probably right.

Which means I’m days from anyone I know. Maybe days from anyone at all.

Not too many days, at least. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were still one or two people down that way.

Good to see you back. Looks like Steph has you covered--you know where you're going from there? Have you talked to Peter yet? He's...kind of insane right now. I'm not sure where he went, actually.

[ It’s Stephen! She likes Stephen. Stephen is smart and practical and useful.

So the smile is genuine. She sure is happy to see you, buddy. ]

Not too sure where I’m headed. Probably back to the bunker. Depends on where exactly Peter is.

[It's mutual! It's always a relief when a friend comes back to life.]

Near there already, actually. I'm with Gabriel and Vanitas at the high school -- actually, you should know. Tomorrow we're going to hold another seance to try to get back in contact with the data collective.

Are you sure that’s a good idea?

[ Not that she has a better one. But still. ]

No. But they might have something more for us if we can contact them again, and the longer we wait the less likely they are to be able to reply.

[ You know what? Fair. Gamora nods her head. ]

Just be careful. Don't do anything too stupid.

I'd ask what I can do to help, but...

[ One, there isn't anything. Two... she doesn't care enough to stick her own neck out. ]

You could sign on. Participate. The bigger this is, the more likely we are to get their attention, open up a way for them to communicate again.

[Yeah no he's going to choose to interpret that as her asking what she can do to help.]

[ Well, fuck. Gamora considers her chances of getting out of this without admitting that she's lost all that touchy-feely let's all be friends fog from her mind. Is it worth it?

Considering the way Flynn got his panties in a bunch, probably best not to alienate anyone she doesn't have to. Especially not the useful ones. ]

Of course. Count me in. When, exactly?

Tomorrow night, a little before lockdown. I'll be putting up a message when it's time; just make sure you've reached good shelter. You might be able to make the maintenance tunnels tomorrow, or at least one of the houses between you and the nearest entrance.

I'm going to try for the tunnels, yeah. Quickest way back to you guys.

[ A little before lockdown. So, if she times it carefully, she can claim she was scrambling to make it someplace safe and just didn't quite make the cut-off for his seance. Of course, the risk there is, you know, death. No telling where it would land her this time. ]

You think I have enough time to make it there?

In two days? I think so. It's been a while since I've been on that side of town, though. Don't...don't push it too hard. I'd rather see you a day later than see your name back on the obituary.

[ There aren't many ways she can finish that sentence. Not without pissing him off, anyway. ]

I don't like being cut off from everyone.

[ It's technically true, even! ]

...Oh. Right. I don't...I don't blame you.

You know...you should...Flynn's the one looking after Peter. He's the one who can fill you in on...everything.

[ Ah, Flynn, with his very well meaning and very annoying meddling. Right. Need a way around that. ]

I know, I just-- It's always easier with Peter when we're in the same place. Neither one of us is very good with people, but we're good with each other.

[ That, also, is kind of true. ]

I don't want to make it harder.

[ And she's very certain that listening to Flynn bitch would make her life harder. Man couldn't even keep his own feet under him in the snow. Like he really has room to judge her. ]

Will you-- wait for me? If it does take an extra day?

[The good news for Gamora (and bad news for Stephen) is that he's absolutely taking every single thing she says entirely at face value. Death prices are a hell of a drug.]

For the seance? Or to meet with you? It's...somewhat difficult to change arrangements on a day's notice with this many people....
