Newer people may not have seen Ecks's face before; she's a patchwork woman with a perpetually blank expression, and when she speaks (turning the tablet around as she does so, so that she's only visible for a moment at the start of the video) her voice is flat and inexpressive.

The new subject for viewing is a conical hat with the word 'DUNCE' written on it in big, red letters, which she has set on the floor of the building.]

What is this? What is a dunce? This hat is not comfortable or warm. What is its purpose?

What is difficult for you, Alfie Solomons?

For me?

Getting up in the morning is difficult for me.

That does not seem difficult.

Is not murdering people easy for you?

[devoutish]

Yeah, it is.

[Says the guy who also has no problem with murdering when he feels it's necessary - but it's not a compulsion.]

I am not sure if it is worse for it to be difficult not to murder people or to be difficult to get up in the morning. If you cannot get up in the morning how do you do things?

[devoutish]

I don't know. I haven't reached that point just yet; not regularly. Royce will haul me up, I expect.

[ecks]

That is acceptable. Royce is capable of being forceful.

[devoutish]

Particularly when he's fussing. Yes.

[ecks]

I have not seen him fuss. I did not think that he fussed.

[devoutish]

He fusses after me often.

[ecks]

I think he only does it for you, then.

[devoutish]

Yeah. And I only do for him.

[Mostly.]

[ecks]

Why? Is it because you are friends? Is that part of being friends?

[devoutish]

It's a part of being very close friends. Yes. We're partners to each other.

[ecks]

I do not know if I have a partner. I have friends but not partners.

[devoutish]

Well. You're very young; you've got time, don't you.

[Except not because they're in Norfinbury and he believes they're all going to die, but Ecks is one of the few people he'll sugarcoat things for.]

[ecks]

I have time if we do not all die soon.

[Look she's aware.]

[devoutish]

[So she is. He gives a humorless little laugh.]

Have you got anyone that you'd trust with your life, Ecks?

[ecks]

Yes. There are several people. I trust Doctor House with my life but not with his life. I trust Royce Melborn, probably. I trust Rhys-with-a-tail. I trust Castiel and Jimmy. I trust many people. If I sleep in the same room with someone I have to trust them not to murder me, so I have trusted many people with my life.

[devoutish]

I'm talking about something more than just trusting them not to murder you. Is there anyone that you trust would save you, even if it meant risking their own life?

[ecks]

Castiel. I think Castiel would do that.

[devoutish]

And would he do it out of duty, out of lack of caring for his own life, or out of love?
