Even if it worked--and it's not going to work; I was just being--I was being stupid. Even if it worked I don't...I don't want that. And I'm sorry, I'm sorry I said all that stuff. I'm sorry for the things I called everyone.

[Her face contorts in guilt, but she forces it neutral again.]

And...if anyone's seen my snake? I know you don't owe me anything, but if you could let me know if he's okay, I'd just...I'd really appreciate that.

[ Gabriel waves at the camera like a dork. At least he looks happy. ]

Welcome back. We've got your snake, Tess. He's fine. Been using us like heating pads ever since we bumped into each other.

[ He pulls back the camera to show a feathered serpent curled around him. He looks down to address the snake. ]

Hey, Tess is on screen. You wanna see her?

[Tess immediately comes to attention, all but lighting up with anxious hope. Roy moves just as suddenly, his tongue rapidly flicking in and out as he shifts to be able to see the tablet screen.

Tess gasps when she sees him, tears springing to her eyes.]

Thank you--thank you, I thought--hi, Roy, I know. I know, I'm sorry. I know you weren't going to hurt me; I'm so sorry.

[ Gabriel is currently doing the work of a Tablet Stand- it's the same thing he'd do for a cat or Stephen's cloak. Even magical creatures deserve some relief around here.

So he just nods, grinning- and then grinning to something off camera. ]

Think you were both pretty confused right then.

[RGBV has his face close enough to the tablet that his tongue hits it every time he tastes the air. Tess, meanwhile, wipes away tears of joy and relief.]

He must've been so scared--

[The snake hisses.]

--Alright, yeah, I know, you don't get scared, you're a big boy. I know. Where are you guys? Are you down by the hospital?

We were. We're actually downtown now. Ran by the grocery store a couple days ago, so Vanitas would stop trying to feed to feed the mythical creature Jello.

[ Gabriel made sure RGBV got whatever he looked interested to eat during that trip. He might be carrying an uncooked chicken for the colorful snake. ]

But we're headed back that way. We can meet up around there, maybe?

Oh my fuck, tell him snakes can't eat Jello.

I kind of went north toward the school, so it'll take me a couple days to get back there. Maybe that'll be around the same time you do, though.

[ He looks a little amused, though. ]

Okay, we'll see how that works. Maybe if we don't plan it too tightly, it'll actually work out for once. Don't worry, though, I'll make sure he's taken care of. It's nice to have an animal around.

[ Tess might notice that Gabriel's been petting the snake pretty much the whole time. ]

I'm glad he hasn't tried to eat any of you.

[She sounds like she's not entirely joking.]

...He hasn't, has he? It's usually just people who smell like prey.

[ Gabriel chuckles a bit. ]

No- no. No one who smells like prey here. Although I'm guessing it's more because we fed him right when we came across him. Bacon's probably not great for snakes, but it's better than nothing.

I think he understood we were trying to take care of him, anyway.

It's better than jello, that's for damn sure.

He's a smart boy, mostly. He knows what side his bread is buttered on.
