[network] @duster, audio; day 350

[ There's a soft voice that comes on the network during the evening, after lockdown - it's mild, but there's an undertone in that calm that's almost unsettling. ]

Well. This place is awful, not that I need to tell any of you that. [ A beat. ] And because most of you don't bother to have private conversations, it's easy to see that there are a couple of people who seem rel-bent on making things just a little more awful.

If you've a person in mind and something worth my time to trade, I can fix any sort of issue you might have. I'm not picky, and I'm very good at problem-solving. I imagine you all can figure out how to contact me if you'd like to discuss solutions further.

[ And the feed ends. ]

And that's quite a lot of denial without providing the truth. If you're highly skilled at diplomacy instead, you would have foreseen this...apparent misunderstanding.

[He's depressed and sleep-deprived, not stupid. Although his inability to look at obituaries if he's not holding his breath for a specific name has definitely come back to bite him.]

You would, but that's not a good thing. You're only giving the few who would cause trouble a new means to do so. It will create more problems than it could ever solve.

[Assassinations do have impact normally. He can't condone murder but he can see why they would be employed. But the places he has been have all been normal Earth villages, towns, cities. They had steady, self-sufficient populations. And most importantly, death stuck like it was supposed to.]

Not any more than you are. Why do you insist on this?

You're insisting on this. It's only going to invite trouble, because that's the only sort of person who will respond. You said yourself, we're not-...too many of us are speaking against anything of the sort.
