There's been a lot of talk recently about this discovery that we might not really be us, that we might be digital copies downloaded into random bodies, and I know that it's been bothering a lot of people to think that they might not be "real". I don't know whether it's true that we're not the original people that we think we are or if we're copies, though I guess it would explain a lot of what happens here and how we're altered or brought back from the dead.

[In a way less horrifying way than he has been imagining this whole time.]

But I just wanted to say that I think we're real. Maybe not the originals, but real all the same. It doesn't matter where I came from, I'm still me with my own memories, experiences, and feelings. And all of you are real, you've had real impact on the lives of other people here, friends and enemies alike. That has to count for something.

[He's struggled with the thought that he might not be real before, when Barry the Chopper taunted him about being a puppet. It tore him apart then, it nearly broke Ed in the accusing, but he learned a lesson from that. He won't forget that lesson easily.]

So-- so I thought it might be nice if we could talk about the things that are real to us, not just here, but back home. Talk about the worlds we remember and the people that were there, and share them with other people who might never have heard of anything like it. We could even add it all to Mr. Carsen's library, an encyclopaedia of worlds. If you'd like to share, I'd love to hear it. So, um, that's all.

man are people STILL on about that
how many times do people have to experiment and ask winter or the admin or who the fuck ever if were the real versions of ourselves before people stop trying to follow the white rabbit and take the red pill
wait you dont get that ref
point is
im tired of it
i was tired of it for different reasons before i even came here
but i dont want to go into that so tell me about your world instead

Really? The whole fact that Sherlock moved his consciousness into another person entirely via blood transfusion doesn't bother you?

[ Just saying. ]

dude
gabriel
broseph
if the nanomachines have our brain scans on them then its not that weird they can do that with a full blood transfusion
that doesnt mean the meat suit isnt real
and me saying that doesnt mean its not creepy as fuck so dont think im not bothered that it happened
termineur: (Careful)

[ He could argue the finer points of this, but he knows it'd just lead to both of them getting frustrated. So he takes a lighter approach. ]

Ah, okay. I get what's bugging you now. I'd been less worried that the 'meat' isn't real, and more concerned how we got here. How our bodies work now. I'm more of the opinion now that it doesn't matter- we'll deal with the logistics when we get to the end.

But you understand how it'd be a concern to other people, right? Especially the newbies. It's one of the obnoxious parts of this place, that people are constantly realizing how messed up it is.

of course the newbies are freaked out about it
but thats why you warn them off the same path everybody else has questioned and requestioned and questioned again for good measure
the horse is dead broseph
you can root around the carcass all you want but you arent gonna fish out any new answers

Think about when you were here first, though. I think we even came in at the same time. Did you believe anything people told you, until you saw it for yourself? You had to do an experiment too, remember. Telling them not to worry about it and that it's all been tried before is just going to annoy both them and you.

That being said, some people should probably know better.

gabriel do you not remember the part where you were one of the people posing the question in the first place then
how people hadnt had the knowledge to do those experiments before then
well guess what now we have done them
and we can tell people about them to make our point
thats the difference

[ Ugh, this is so annoying. Way more arguing than he intended to do initially, and the whole point was for less arguing, and Davesprite is probably purposefully not getting it at this point. Gabriel could easily go on the attack and get at the heart of the problem...but he doesn't want to ruin Al's attempt to make people feel better. So Gabriel does the mature thing for the adult in the conversation, and shuts it down. ]

Forget it.
