For someone who has such a reputation for schemes and planning, isn't that a bit short-sighted?

[He looks up from the tablet.]

You were lucky that was me. If I weren't such a nice guy I could have bashed your head in. Which, you're welcome for, by the way.

The schemes and planning are to ensure that I won't end up in a situation like that.

And no. You couldn't have.

Absolutely could have. That's why you called a tie.

Which your schemes and planning didn't really save you from now, did they.

I was playing it safe. You're not the kind of person who could have done such a thing.

And to be fair, most people aren't as inconsiderate and annoying as you. I'll have to add your outlier into my data.

[Ugh, will you just shut up? Flynn gets the most whitheringest of whithering looks once more.]

I'm not. But I could have been.

[Flynn just shoots him a look in return.] I'm flattered.

But you weren't. Endless, pointless speculation.

Don't be.

[He goes back to his tablet with a glare.]

[Well. While Flynn will take pleasure in the exasperation he is causing, this is proving to be a long night. He, too, focuses back on his work, trying to ignore the throbbing pain in his shoulder.

He's definitely not going to bed first, not if he can help it.

God, some painkillers would be nice.]

[holmesice]

[Mycroft's definitely not going to bed first, either. If this is going to be a war of attrition, so be it.

He takes small glances from his tablet, to see if his annoying, unwanted companion is drifting off.]

[As time progresses Flynn finds it harder and harder to concentrate. Maybe it's the blood loss or the aftershock, but eventually his blinks become slower and less frequent in between. At some point he props his head up on his healthy arm, first on his hand, then slowly sliding down onto the inside of his arm over time.

It's a known, comfortable position for Flynn and Mycroft might find it easy to deduct that this isn't exactly the first time he has fallen asleep on top of his reading material. Maybe he won't be able to claim the bed after all.

With a quiet sigh his eyes drift shut.]
