And Lou's my sweet, precious, beautiful baby! [She swerves the camera over to show the face of her pet hyena, who watches Rocket for a second before excitedly vocalizing and gnashing his large teeth against the tablet.] NO! LOU! Not food! This one's not food!

[She pulls her tablet away and stands up before it gets crunched, re-focusing it back on herself.] Lou's the only wild critter in this dump who can't talk. Or-- wait. Lou! [She calls to him offscreen.] Lou, can you talk yet? L-- [There's only whining and a titter of laughter to be heard.] Nope! He don't talk.

Figured. [ Honestly it matches the whole theme of "deserted" or whatever other vibes he's been getting here.

As for Lou though, Rocket seems ... intrigued. He reactively pulls back from the camera for a hot second when the hyena gnashes forwards, but a second later and is leaning back in. ]

Did you find him here? [ He asks, incredulously, but it's worth knowing if she did. ] And why can't the tablet translate him? It's been translating [ uhhh what was the word again, oh right ] cat talk to me just fine. [ Said like he isn't a talking raccoon. ]

She shakes her head.] Lou's from back home. Got kidnapped like the rest of us, only he showed up before I did. There's nothin' native here.

I'unno why it don't translate his animal-talk. [It's starting to be a major bummer, though. She never knew she wanted a talking pet as bad as she does now.]

Guess these universal translators aren't as good as the ones we had back home.

[ Rocket would be offering to try talking to Lou himself, except he remembers the two seconds of gnarling that just happened and he already knows he didn't understand any of it.

He would also be wondering why a woman would have a pet creature like that back home, but he's seen weirder, so Rocket doesn't see the point of saying anything there either. ]

Nothing native huh? [ Except maybe the anomalies, which he hasn't seen yet. ] Well, it seems like kidnapping creatures from the same place is a trend around here.
