Not the worst I've seen, but I knew the first time he fell off a tree after barely leaving the ground that I had my work cut out for me.

Wow.

He sounds like a complete doofus.

[SORRY FLYNN HE DOESN'T KNOW]
slapthelibrarian: (0063)

[personal profile] slapthelibrarian 2017-11-29 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Among other things. But he got better the longer we worked together.

[ A pause. ]

I don't even know why I'm telling you all this.
zunesareawesome: (It's a real smile.)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-11-29 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Sure but...the dude really fell off a tree after barely leaving the ground? Come on, how much better could he possibly get?

[Tell him more about this mysterious doofus.]

Because I'm a Guardian, and we Guardians have to stick together.
slapthelibrarian: (0046)

[personal profile] slapthelibrarian 2017-11-30 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, believe me, despite his rough start, he always had a certain spark of promise in him.

[ Not that it was always obvious given how clumsy and fumbling he was at first. ]

He just needed a good teacher, and he did the rest himself.

[ There's the slightest note of pride in her voice even as she gives Peter an appraising look. ]

But like you said, you guard much more than just one man. How do you do it?
zunesareawesome: (It's a real smile.)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-12-01 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, good for your guardian-ee. At least you don't have to worry about him getting left behind or stuff anymore then?

How? Well... [A smirk.] I'm Star-Lord, that's how.

Seriously though, besides the fact that I'm good at...fighting and shooting at stuff, I couldn't have done it without my friends. It's because of them that we can protect the galaxy, together.
slapthelibrarian: (0054)

[personal profile] slapthelibrarian 2017-12-01 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
No, that is one thing I don't have to worry about with him.

Well, as good a name as that is, it tells me next to nothing about your abilities. I assume you must have them, of course. [ His next statement confirms that, but still, it's only generalities, not specifics. ] Friends are important, I agree.
zunesareawesome: (The orb)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-12-01 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Good for the dude, then. But I'm guessing your skillset still vastly outmatches his if you're still stickin' around him.

Oh, man, abilities? The ability to know which frickin' awesome song to play during space battles, yeah. I did have superpowers once though.

It's an outlaw name, it just sounds cool. [His mom gave it to him and it's the best name ever okay?]

Yeah, I wouldn't have even gotten in this business without 'em.
slapthelibrarian: (0053)

[personal profile] slapthelibrarian 2017-12-02 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
All I can say is that he's got the brains while I have the brawn. I wouldn't make a good Guardian if that weren't the case.

Really, that's all? I imagined that someone named Star-Lord would be in possession of supernatural powers all the time.

[ Suddenly she's not so impressed, Star-Lord. ]
zunesareawesome: (I'm gonna be honest with you.)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-12-03 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I'm sure you got plenty of brains too.

[That sounded kind of familiar. Gamora was totally stronger than him, but if he was the brains of the operation they were in trouble. Leader, yeah, he was a good leader. But he was proud of his plans, even if he only managed 12% of a good one.]

Just some of the time. I didn't know that I was half-Celestial until not too long ago.
slapthelibrarian: (0065)

[personal profile] slapthelibrarian 2017-12-04 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Not as much as the Librarian.

[ Which was a thing she wasn't supposed to say. But now that it's out, she can't take it back. Call her over-cautious but she'd rather not unknowingly put Flynn in danger. Still, Peter seems like the decent sort. Maybe he won't ask too many questions. ]

Half-Celestial? What, like part alien?
zunesareawesome: (Unhappy)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-12-04 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
[--Oh man.]

The Librarian!? You don't mean Flynn, do you? Because if you do I feel really bad about saying some of the things I said now--

Yeah. My mom's from earth. My dad was a planet.

[Sometimes he just likes saying it to see people's reactions.]

[personal profile] slapthelibrarian 2017-12-04 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ How unsurprising that he knows of Flynn. All of Nicole's secretiveness now seems pointless, if Flynn is telling people about the Library and his role. ]

I do mean Flynn. You've met him, then. [ He's a bit difficult to miss. ]

And I wouldn't. He can take a little friendly ribbing.

[ Nicole's just going to make an incredulous noise. ]

Did you just say your father was a planet? A literal planet?

[ How's that for a reaction, Peter? ]
zunesareawesome: (I'm gonna be honest with you.)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-12-04 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, wow, okay, so like--well, he's not a complete doofus and if you see this Flynn, I'm really really sorry?

[He rubs his face, trying to look contrite.]

Oh, there's no shortage of friendly ribbing on my end. He's a really great guy, though, and a good friend.

[A blink.]

Yeah, a literal planet. With an atmosphere and plants and everything.

[Not bad, not bad.]

Trust me, he's been called much worse, and some of that came from me. But don't get the wrong idea about us; I might poke fun at him, but I'm fully committed to being his Guardian.

I think he'll survive you calling him a doofus.

[ Nicole can't help but look just the slightest bit confused. Still, it's not the most far-fetched thing ever. ]

I'm attempting to understand how a relationship with a planet would work, but I honestly can't work that one out.

[ How does a planet have children? Perhaps it's best to not ask. ]
zunesareawesome: (I hate everything)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-12-06 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
So like, what exactly does the Guardian of the Librarian even do? Beat up bad guys in front of him? Help him up staircases and make him look both ways before crossing the street? I mean...what's your job description exactly? [He's being genuinely curious here.]

...yeah, he has a human-looking form he can take when he wants to interact with regular people. He came to earth and my mom fell in love with him, and the rest is history. [He has to keep explaining this to everyone why, why does he have to keep doing this--]
slapthelibrarian: (0083)

[personal profile] slapthelibrarian 2017-12-07 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
A Guardian protects the Librarian, assists him on missions, and acts as a voice of reason when needed. Most importantly, a Guardian must be willing to put their life on the line if the Librarian's own life is in danger.

The Librarian's survival is perhaps the most important thing there is.

[ In her world, anyway. ]

Fascinating. I had no idea such a thing was possible. [ It's interesting, Peter, that's why she's asking. Where she's from, planets and humans don't form relationships. That's not to say that they can't or shouldn't; it's just a little outside her frame of reference. ]
zunesareawesome: (I'm gonna be honest with you.)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-12-18 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
...seriously? Is his work really that dangerous that he needs an actual person to look after him at all times?

[Wow. This makes Flynn sound so important. Not that he wasn't important to him, just Important on his own world.]

Me neither. I thought I was a normal dude for ages. And then to find out that I was half-alien--okay, it's kind of a shock, but cool. But a planet? [Don't worry, Nicole, he just gets this a lot. And most people poke fun at him for it. But he knows how weird it is.]
slapthelibrarian: (005)

[personal profile] slapthelibrarian 2017-12-21 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
It is. Librarians have died before, too many to count. [ There is an exact number, but Nicole hates to think of it, just as she hates to think of the possibility of Flynn ending up as a number on the list. ]

Well, you seem to have adjusted well to it, at any rate.
