Well first off. Is the entire planet like this frozen hellhole?
cosmicwords: (So I'm stuck in this desert for eternity)

Well... It never used to be. It was once a place with many different kinds of environments and ecosystems, but...

All we know is Norfinbury. We have not been able to leave or contact the outside world. This city could have been quarantined...or...we are on a version of Earth that lost most of its life a long time ago.

And no one's EVER been able to get out?

Or make contact?

We all GOT here somehow. If there's a way to throw our bodies in, there's gotta be a way out.

Mm. There must be.

So far, however, we are trapped behind walls too high to climb and gates that have been sealed up for years.

...Of course even if we open those doors we might not be able to go home again. We can find out more about this world but going home won't be as easy as simply walking out of the town...

I think, perhaps, the very machine that brought us here, if it was a machine, could be a means of escape. To find it we need to to find a way of gaining access to the center of town.

Lemme guess. No one here has been able to build something to let someone, say, fly over the wall. [ Said like flying was a completely normal and reasonable expectation. ]

The center of town?

[ Well this is going somewhere. ]

What, is it locked up?
cosmicwords: (Earth will become a second Venus.)

[personal profile] cosmicwords 2017-11-19 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. Or it could be buried under ice. We don't know since we haven't yet found it.

As for flying, well, our resources are limited and whenever we try to build something it tends to be dismantled when we are not looking and all of the parts returned to where they once were.

Huh, well here I thought you knew where it was, but just couldn't get in. [ Not being able to find it in the first place ... well that feels eerie. ]

All the parts returned to where they once were? And you're saying that someone comes and takes your stuff apart ... and the people nearby ... they ... don't ... notice.

[ Having not been here for more than a day yet, Rocket doesn't understand. ]

That's right.

I've heard it might be small robots that live in the vents. They're like a maintenance team here. When people fall asleep they come in and clean things up.

And...people always do fall asleep, eventually.

Okay, hold on, hold on.

First, has anyone gone into the vents and looked?

Second, no one has been able to stay up all night in this place?
cosmicwords: (Rats live on no evil star)

[personal profile] cosmicwords 2017-11-20 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
I believe people have looked and have seen the robots at a distance but none have been captured for study.

And, no, nobody has been able to stay awake from what I understand. If they have then the robots have not come. They only seem to come when unobserved. Unfortunately, nobody can watch the vents forever; sleep comes or restlessness will impel you to leave.

House has attempted to study them, I know, he could offer more information than I could. The Joker has studied them as well but you may find anything the clown says a bit difficult to parse.

[ He snickers a little, because if none have been captured for study, that seems like step #1. Worth a shot. ]

House and the Joker huh? People really have great naming conventions around here. I'll see what they can tell me.
