[That's... actually a number so large, it takes a moment to even remember what the word means. Even then, she has trouble wrapping her head around what a million Twolegs would look like.]

What's the point of having words for things like that?

I could just as easily ask you why we shouldn't.

I guess I can't think of a reason. If you use the word enough, it must be useful.

Yeah. We've got other groups too, of course. Cities, neighborhoods, families, religions, the country your family came from in the old days; we've got all sorts of things like that. All sorts of ways to sort ourselves.

In the forest we only have our clans. Sometimes a cat will be born in a different clan, or their parents will be from different clans, but those are very rare. We live and die for the clan we are born into, and anything else is considered treason.

Yeah, we keep to our own as well, my people. It's not so dire as all that, not for most, but it's not common.
