Unfortunately. It's a shame, really. [And please don't even get him started on the porn.]

But! We've actually started working on an e-library of sorts. Bringing together what we come across while traveling. Some of us brought books from home, others have participated with original content. It's still small, but growing, hang on...

[He fumbles with his tablet for a moment, then sends over a link.]

I know, right? And the long evenings are the worst. It's good to have something to do.

[He smiles at his offer to contribute.]

Sounds good! Are you a writer then?

[Oh, and how he recognizes them; in fact his eyebrows shoot up immediately at the second title.]

Andersen, yes.

... You're telling me you're Hans Christian Andersen?

I'm not sure how to put this, but. You don't look like him at all.

[Oh, we're doing the sarcasm thing now. He can do the sarcasm thing. Only with Flynn it's more of an indistinct exasperated agitation, but, close enough?]

Well, that... still makes more sense than you being Hans Christian Andersen. Your nose is all wrong. Are you even Danish?

[HUH, fine. Flynn scowls at the sudden display of language proficiency and purses his lips.] I'll take it. [Said in Danish as well before scrunching up his face at the new information.]

What do you mean, what 'form' you assume? You're Andersen but in a child's body?

[Oh God, that makes no sense. Or maybe it does, in a way – it would explain the voice, only no, no it wouldn't because shouldn't your vocal chords be the vocal chords of a child as well, Andersen, this is so weird.]

... Come on now, your nose isn't that bad. [Added as an afterthought. He feels a little bad about the remark now.]

Reincar-- I see. [Flynn is still not 100% sure he's buying this – what does Andersen's larynx even look like – but then again he's accustomed to magic and has seen a lot of very strange things in his life. Not even counting the city.

He clears his throat. Well, this is very awkward.]

In that case, I'm a huge fan of your work.

Sir.

Are you saying you're willing to contribute with your material?

[Okay, he beams at that, because that actually has him excited. Works from Hans Christian Andersen in the Norfinbury library? Next to works from Sherlock Holmes and John Watson? Sign him up, that would be amazing!

It's just.

Hnngh.

He tries to refrain himself here but,]

Why is your voice so deep, is that your soul talking? Didn't your vocal chords reincarnate?

Well, I figured that much. I mean, the blue hair kind of gives it away? Are you sure you should be calling me th--

[Right. Literary heroes. Willing to contribute. Stopping now.]

I'd love to have your works at the library.

Learning's my specialty, really.

[A request? What is this, Christmas??]

Oh, uh, I mean, we are a little short on fiction and... given the bleakness of our situation maybe something upbeat? I think that would be really nice for people.

Of course, I have read all of your works!

[Many times, in fact. An embarrassingly amount of times.]

I just thought maybe you were in the mood for something different. But anything would be great to have, really.

Me?

[It really is Christmas. Flynn's eyes go wide at the offer, jaw dropping before he shakes his head, trying to focus.]

Oh... right! Right, the main character of the story. Is it going to be a fairy tale?

[Sorry, Andersen, it's too late for that now. Flynn is just going to be forever cheerful about this.]

Well, of course, that makes sense. [Very reasonable indeed, Andersen is the writer after all.]

I've always liked the ones with animals. The Storks, the Wild Swans, the Toad... [... the Ugly Duckling, but who wants to be that obvious about his issues of fitting in?] Maybe a badger?
