Summary: Bumping into each other and then the event happens.

[ 325: A small shed. It looks like it was built for holding lawn tools, but now, large butcher's hooks hang from the ceiling. Blood stains the walls, ceiling, and floor here.

A. Night 292 Option

[ He has mixed feelings about this encounter. It's a shed, which means keeping to close proximity. They will know he's still traveling with someone and that Billy actually manage to put up with him during this time. It's the friendship brigade, but it also includes Gabriel.

So he'll deal with it.

Keeping his helmet on as he pulls out the crowbar to try again to get a meat hook down. Reaching up to grab a hold of it carefully to try to pull himself up. This won't go wrong at all, right? ]

B. 293 Event Option
[ Waking up with a start and scrambling until his back hits the shed. His hands are touching his chest to find the wound. Once he's sure there's nothing, he works on calming down.

A cursory glance tells him he's surrounded by the people he feels safest with. He scoots over closer to the nearest person to get some comfort from going back to his world. ]

You awake?

C.Bring your own.

[ Slam in with whatever. ]

[ Gabriel was glad to run into Vanitas again, even if he's not sure how Billy feels about it. It'd also be nice if they could find an actual house to hang out in, but that's just not in the cards for this place.

He sees Vanitas working on the meat hooks and walks over. ]

Hey. Want any help with these? You trying to break one off or something?

[ Gabriel had woken up early to a bad dream- not one of his usual ones, either. Seeing Vanitas jolt awake makes him narrow his eyes, slightly, but he nods at the question. ]

Yeah. Bad dream?

[ Looking at Gabriel, and then up at the chain. Then back again as he ponders on how to utilize his help. ]

The good doctor wanted to know if it was possible. Having them could be useful.

[ And the last time he tried, he only had wire cutters. He will defeat these chains.

Dropping back down and then waving him over. ]

[ Years ago, he wouldn't have answered, but now he nods without hesitation. ]

Something like that. I was back in my world.

[ He gives a frown as he realizes that Gabriel is also up early. ]

Did it wake you up?

A: Night 292

[ He'd been feeling a little weird this afternoon- well, not weird exactly, but less like he wanted to hop all over the place. He'd shut up sometimes too, which was a big deal on its own. By the time they reached the shed again, he was almost certain.

Anyone coming near him and the nest of pillows and blankets he's created will get a small smile, and for once in a long while, he won't initiate conversation. ]

B: Morning 293

[ The dream was concerning. Was it real? Was it like the memories he's been given before? He can't tell, but- he tells himself it only emphasizes that he should be doing what he can here. Even if that often didn't feel like much. He sighs as he pulls his pack together, checks on Steph, and then considers just unpacking again. They probably shouldn't travel with her feeling off, he doesn't want it to turn into pneumonia.

He paces a little, the worry more present in his features than he generally lets it be. It's during this period of indecisiveness that he comes in a little too close to someone's orbit. ]

Morning. Just trying to plan our next move. Maybe we should eat something first.

[ He walks closer and examines the hooks. ]

I've got a handsaw we could use, but it'd probably grind down before we got all the way through. You want a foot up?

[ He laces his hands together, forming a platform for Vanitas if he wants it. It's probably a better option than trying to hold Vanitas up at the waist. ]

It'll give us something to do, at least.

[ He shakes his head, a serious expression on his face. His tone is gentle. ]

I had the same thing happen to me. Might be Norfinbury messing with us, but it could also be memories. I got some when I died a few years ago.

[ -wait. Years? That seems too long for some reason, but he decides to just go with it. Besides, that's not the important thing. ]

Did it seem like time had passed in your dream, too? Back home, I mean?

[ A foot up is preferable. He does hesitate for a moment because he did poke at Billy before, and it's still weird. ]

Both.

[ He did put a dent in it in the past with a pair of wire cutters. RIP wire cutters. Moving close enough to Sylar to try to pick out the dent he put in to point it out to him. ]

I started on it a few days ago. Didn't make a lot of progress with what I had.

[ Something doesn't add up, but he doesn't feel up to questioning it. Giving a solemn nod at that. ]

A long time has passed, but I can't be sure how long. Time moves differently in the realm of darkness.

[ Or maybe it was the realm of sleep? Bringing his knees to his chest as he helps himself to lean against Gabriel. Hello. ]

Ventus was dead.

[Al looks exactly the same as he always has, despite the time that's passed, though there's something more tired about his determination now. It's no less genuine, he hasn't given up, it's just been a long time.]

H-Hey! It's okay, I'm awake, is everything okay?

[He saw that scrambling start.]

[Al is sat against the wall looking, as he always does when he sleeps, like a completely inanimate and ordinary suit of armour. But as soon as Sylar comes in close, the lights appear in his eyes and he clanks his way properly upright.]

You don't think we should stay put for a day or two, just to help Steph get better?

[ Steph's usual routine when they arrive in a new building is to dump her stuff and begin searching for anything that might be useful. Today, however, she has been quiet and sullen and finally come to the conclusion that she's sick.

It doesn't feel like a dangerous sick, just a normal headachey, congested, more-tired-than-she-can-account-for sick. So instead of alerting her companions or calling one of the doctors she simply sets her blanket-and-stuffed-animals nest up and curls up in it, water bottle clutched near her head. Hydration is important, after all. ]

[ Gabriel leans against Vanitas, and puts an arm around him in sort of a half-hug when he hears what happened. ]

Oh...that's terrible. I'm so sorry, Vanitas.

It's- it's either perception lies, or.... something unhooked us from time when we were brought here, maybe it hooked back up. I guess that could happen, but how many times has this place lied to us?

[ He feels terribly uneasy, though. It felt just like when he gained memories. ]

[ Gabriel nods at the question. ]

I was just thinking that. Although- there is a hot water house nearby. I think we could reach it in a day. So maybe rest and then head over there, if she's still feeling rough? Or maybe just in general.

[ Gabriel does not interrupt the blanket-nest, but he does come by after she's had plenty of time to get settled (but hopefully before she dozes off). He crouches down near her to speak. ]

Hey. You missing anything at all? More blankets? You look like you're really wanting to not move for awhile.

[ She makes a noise like a disgruntled moan, peering at him over her water bottle. Then she sniffles. ]

'M okay. Probably smart not to share blankets just now.

[ Gabriel unhooks the saw from his tool belt and hands it over to Vanitas before putting his hands back in position. He does shift slightly to make sure he's standing under the correct hook. ]

Well, if we keep chipping away at it, maybe we'll get it. I know we seem to keep returning to this spot.

[ He glances up at it. ]

You did pretty well with wire cutters. We could really use some bolt cutters, but I'm betting no one's seen a pair of those around here.

[ He smiles just a little. ]

I'd take the chance, so let me know if you could use 'em.

I can also call and complain to the Admin about how your nanites aren't even doing their most basic of jobs. But I think it might be more productive to maybe make a small fire?

[ They hadn't had one since they burned the brain, something that meant a lot to Gabriel, but he could tell the other two were tolerating. Maybe they could afford one now. ]

I'm feeling kinda hot, actually... [ She's not sure if that's fever or just exhaustion from making herself walk all day. ]

But I won't stop you if you wanna complain to the Admin.

[ He reaches out and places his hand on her forehead (unless she protests, of course), but it's so hard to tell what temperature things are supposed to be in this frozen wasteland. Comparing it to his own forehead....he can't tell either. ]

No fire, then. And trust me, it'll happen. If you get feeling any hotter, tell me?

[Al glances over as she sets up her nest, but he doesn't actually come and disturb her until she's well and truly nestled into it, and then only to drape an extra blanket over her.]

You okay?

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. I think she probably just has a cold, but hot water and some proper warmth can only help get rid of it.

[Besides which, she's pretty strong, he has no doubt that she'll shrug it off soon.]

Mmhmm. [ She nods too, for good measure. He doesn't seem convinced she's feverish, which she takes to mean she's not. ]

Maybe not contagious yet, at least... That's what fever means, right?

[ She honestly can't remember. She's so tired... ]

Hmm?

[ She peers up at him, taking a moment to let her brain catch up to her ears. ]

M'alright. Just a cold, I think.
