[network] @309_W1C_2DZ; video; evening 293 [open]

[The video feed clicks on to the sight of an unfamiliar face sporting a patchy and thin moustache. This face belongs to a boy in his late teens, perhaps seventeen or eighteen, with blond hair and blue eyes. He's wearing, rather incongruously, a Belstaff coat that's much too long for him.

He grins into the camera.

He's been locked up for so long, trapped in a straight jacket, and he plans to make the most of it while Sherlock is the one locked up inside his own mind. He rolls his shoulders luxuriously, getting used to the odd new body.]

Daddy's home, boys and girls, I hope you've not been naughty.

[His grin widens, showing slightly crooked but very white teeth.]

we have very different definitions of "awesome"
zunesareawesome: (Concerned)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-10-27 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
That's...probably true.

Seriously though, does this mean you can like switch bodies with people now? Like what the hell?
rubikscomplex: (neutral | or maybe)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-10-27 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
i'd recommend letting holmes play out for a week or two
before you decide you wanna go shopping for a new bod'

How is any of this even possible!?

[He tried following along with what people were saying earlier with Angel and Beckett and brain maps but it was just...what even.]

How can you download someone's soul into another body by putting blood in them? I mean, yeah, 'nanomachines', but...!? Their personality is what's in the machines and that programs and alters another body's brain I mean...what.

there's no such thing as souls
you're neurons and electrical signals
map them
i can copy you and put you in anything i want
zunesareawesome: (Starry eyes)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-10-27 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Even space pirates believe in souls, dude.

So what, are we just...copies of our actual selves? [THAT'S A HORRIFYING THOUGHT.]
rubikscomplex: (neutral | attentive)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-10-27 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
does not believing in souls make me a bad person?
is there more intrinsic worth in someone who has some concept of an afterlife or god?
believe what you want if it's more comforting somehow
i never understood why it would be

possibly copies
more likely they reconstructions of whatever version they dragged out of our original universe
zunesareawesome: (I hate everything)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-10-27 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
No, I didn't mean it like that. Just 'cause you said there aren't any doesn't mean there aren't any.

What happened to the original version then?
rubikscomplex: (Default)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-10-27 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
just because you believe there are
doesn’t mean there are
you realize souls and an afterlife just mean life itself is one big test, right?
rats in the maze

presumably we’re semi-intact when we come through
so you start out with your body
they only have to replace bits and pieces of it
or find another state where it’s not injured
if we’re running with the quantum states machine theory
if you wanna go more horror sci-fi
the original bodies might get recycled and are what we’re eating in different forms
And we’ve got synthetic bodies
zunesareawesome: (Concerned)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-10-27 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. Maybe people just like having something to look forward to. [His mom did, anyway. Yondu thought he wouldn't, but he did, in the end, after all.]

Okay, so like--unlike you, I haven't died here a gazillion times, so I could still be me.

Gross.

I could see synthetic bodies being a thing. But that's super creepy, there could be a factory somewhere, where there's a hundred of you in an assembly line. [A shudder.]
rubikscomplex: (sass | hmm...)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-10-27 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
an end can be something to look forward to
i like biographies
always a good death at the end
life doesn't need a cliffhanger

a hundred you's would definitely be creepy
zunesareawesome: (Concerned)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-10-28 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Something in Peter grates. The thought of his mom, in the hospital, holding onto hope that she was going to a better place.] And some ends are so horrible that people like to think of there being something better after.

And a hundred yous would be horrific.

So what's the point of all of this? It doesn't make any sense. Okay like...there's a machine somewhere that's like --"Hey, I got this lonely town, let me fill it with people? Except I don't want them to die, but I kinda suck so people come back wrong or they don't come back at all?"
rubikscomplex: (bored | innocent)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-10-28 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
nothing can be better than something

that's the million dollar question, petey
answer that
you win the solid-gold kewpie doll
zunesareawesome: (Concerned)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-10-28 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
I guess.

If there's a solid-gold kewpie doll at end of this I'll eat my Zune.

But dude--if we've got a body farm making copies of us, where are they getting the resources and fuel and crap to pull this off?
rubikscomplex: (neutral | or maybe)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-10-28 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
where do you think the bodies from the previous session go?
zunesareawesome: (Concerned)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-10-28 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. Okay. That's...just the cherry on top of the horrifying, nasty-flavored sundae that this place is.

What's gonna happen to worst-moustache-I've-ever-seen over there, then? Because I've seen some creepy things, and this is really taking the cake here.

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-10-28 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
no idea
isn't it exciting?
zunesareawesome: (I hate everything)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-10-28 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It's kinda sorta pee-your-pants scream-out-loud scary, dude.

So is the idea that we can just be like...downloaded into other bodies.

[He's had enough of existentially horrifying for his whole life already, he doesn't need this.]

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-10-28 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
it's a theory that's been on the table for a while
ever since the possessions
nothing really new, just confirmed

and yeah
that's exactly the idea
zunesareawesome: (Concerned)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-10-30 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
So what happens if someone gets exploded or something and there's nothing left, not even their blood?

rubikscomplex: (annoyed | go away)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-10-30 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
you people
they probably just get uploaded into a new set
along with a new body
they're transmitting back to the server
this is transfer
not complete destruction
that's why we were probably able to trick the system to a degree
zunesareawesome: (I hate everything)

[personal profile] zunesareawesome 2017-10-30 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
[WELP.]

Oh! So if the first part isn't horrifying enough, we're just data being transferred. Like how I cloned my cassette tapes.

Why not someone load me into my Zune, it's better in there! And probably not as cold!
rubikscomplex: (snide | skeptical)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2017-10-30 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
do i look like a nanite technician?
this is all theoretical based on one experiment, kid
i'm not selling a car here
hell if i know exactly how it works
zunesareawesome: (This!)

Yes! Yes you do! You're the genius, you're supposed to know everything!
