"Even if you don't die of it, it's going to make you sick."

Shit. He's doing it on purpose. Which Rhys had considered himself, since he was almost strong enough to possibly fight off bring force-free, but...strength was more important. If they got out of here, they'd need to be able to move.

Rhys didn't want to leave anyone behind. He wanted them to save him that horrible choice by being strong enough to run.

"Headaches and nausea and a bunch of other crap, and if you don't keep it down you might just get an IV." He sighs, but it's quiet, concerned. "It sucks, but staying as healthy as we can is probably the best thing, man."

"Maybe everything is drugged. Maybe it - m-maybe it's not. Even if it's not, I don't wanna make this easy for them."

Rhys the First tries a different approach, then: balling his robot fingers into an uneven fist before punching himself in the gut. He heaves -- dry. Again. And now he's gasping.

"I c-c-can't -- move f-fast anyway," he starts, when he's able to draw in a tiny bit of air. "Leg. Is crap."

It's hard to keep a positive demeanor for himself, never mind others, but he's trying. But in the end, he's got a point to make, and right now getting Rhys to stop torturing himself further is more important.

"They didn't drug us when we were on the tables. I don't think they needed to. They gotta keep us alive, and the food's better than the IV."

And he's not going to talk about leaving the younger man behind. He's just not even going to think about it right now.

"I don't... really care."

He does stop hitting himself, at least, turning his face towards the bathroom entrance. The light from his new eye shines like a bright beacon, illuminating his narrow face. Too narrow.

"This is all I can do, Inky. This... is the only rebellion that works."

That stings. As much as Rhys wants to argue with that, he can't, and he sinks back down to the carpet, feeling the defeat twist in his chest. He wants to keep arguing, to get the younger man to see his side, but he's pretty sure in the other Rhys's mind, this is the only thread of control in the situation he's got left.

Goddamn this place. He stares at that shining eye for a long few seconds, then closes his eyes, out of arguments.

Soon enough, the deed is done. He rinses his mouth with a few handfuls of water and takes a moment to force himself to breathe steadily. As soon as that's managed, he's crawling out of the bathroom, his one flesh arm pitifully pulling the rest of his body across the carpeting.

"...I'm sorry."

He doesn't know what he's apologizing for, exactly. It just feels needed.

It's not actually needed, but the apology makes Rhys feel both a little better and a little worse.

They're all doing the best they can, here. They're all messed up.

"S'okay," he says softly. "We're doing what we can. It's all fucked up. Not gonna blame you for that."
