[log] don't call back any time [closed]
Characters: Fiona and Rhys
Location Building 81
Date: Backdated to Day 18
Summary: Cabin fever on top of who-knows-what collides and two nerds find themselves locked in a house together. Sucks.
Warnings: Will update.
[There hadn't been enough information to tell Fiona where Rhys was. She had yet to see his robot companion out in the snow, which she had been counting on to at least give her a direction in terms of where to go and meet him.
But nothing was nothing and she could only walk as far as her legs would carry her. She's been walking for days in the snow in clothing that wasn't cut out for it, and she hasn't found much of use. The plan, of course, had been to find Rhys and drag him back to the store she had found -- but now she isn't even sure which direction she had come from.
Priorities are beginning to take over. Exhaustion and chill eat at her bones, and all it takes is a building visible on the horizon to remind her that she needs to be worrying about herself before she considers chasing the only familiar thing to her down and killing them both.
She doesn't knock when she gets to the door (there's something at the corner of her eye in the other direction) and slams the door hard behind her. She spots wet footprints near the door, scrambling drags of ice that hinted someone else had the same idea as her -- someone who had been chased inside.
She has no weapon to fight whatever is in the house, and the calm of the space is almost too suspicious. Fiona steps inside slowly, ignoring the howl of the wind outside and stays near the center of the room. If anything is hiding around the corners, it'll give her more time to defend herself. Maybe. And since she's already lost the element of surprise by closing the door:]
Hello?
[It can't hurt to try and encourage other occupants to show themselves.]

If there were animals in abundant numbers here it'd be easy to blame it on one, but instead it's just a sign she isn't here alone.
And whoever else is just a room or so away might not actually be human.]

Fiona holds her ground for a few seconds just trying to gauge the direction the sound had come from. Self-preservation instincts kick in shortly after -- with no weapon, she has no hope of defending herself if whatever is in the house isn't human.
She starts to back toward the door, carrying what remains of her supplies. It would be dark in a few hours. She would have to spring if she hoped to make it anywhere safe before the doors locked.]

The affection is met with a glare of frustration, pushing Dumpy out of the way in favor of shutting the door.]
Ugh. Don't do that.
[She pauses.]
Wait, if you're here, where's Rhys?

I'm in here. [Said as he pokes his head out of the kitchen nearby, and probably where she'd heard that metallic scraping sound just a few minutes prior. Adds, nervously-- belatedly:] Hey.

[She reaches up to rub the side of her head where she feels a headache coming on, but turns with some relief to approach Rhys now that she knows where he is.]
You know, I thought I had the wrong house. Next time I say "Hello", you might think about -- I don't know, responding?
