Its always possible for things to get worse.

*He regrets it the moment he says it but by then its too late. Some twisted form of his normal optimism makes it slip out.*

They did to all of us. But if we get out of here we can make up for it.

How?

[This time the word comes with a bit more bite, anger that's directed far more to the situation than at Manny himself.]

How do we make up for something like this? The people we did this to will never want to look at us again, and I don't blame them. You can't just apologise for torturing someone and expect it to be okay.

No, we can't just apologize. Part of it would be asking them how we can make it up. The rest...perhaps remember their pain and keep it within us even if they forget.

*That's what he's going to do, at least. But remembering is what he does best.*

There is no making something like this up! There is no forgetting, not for us and not for them.

[He's snapping now. It's not Manny's fault, he just happens to be the one here and in the way.]

There are ways to atone for everything.

*Even if its through death, though that doesn't seem to be an option here.

He sounds sad, thought. This isn't anything he thought he'd ever have to deal with.*

Back where...back in my world there are tales of a realm that can help with that. But its a lot like...a lot like what we did to them. I'd be fine if they had their chance to use something like that.

*Of course that'd be hard to do to a suit of armor, but surely there's a guy in there.*

[Usually he'd be all for hearing about these other worlds and how they solved their problems, but he's at the end of his rope now and he's not in the mood for vague details about crimes that might have been committed.]

But this isn't your world, this is Norfinbury, and it's the people here who need to be helped. Some other realm in some other place isn't going to do anything.

I'm not saying we find a way to go there. I'm saying we let those we hurt punish us as they see fit.

[armoured]

What good would that do? If we spend all our time punishing each other, we're doing the Admin's job for them and we'll never get out of here.

[standing_waters]

If it helps them its not a waste of time.

[armoured]

It is.

[At least his voice softens a bit now.]

We have so little time left as it is, what good is revenge going to do if it ends up killing them as well?

How long do we have?

Not long, three months maybe? We've been told for a long time that the 'session' only lasts for a year, that's about a hundred days away now.

[standing_waters]

*He frowns. Three months...even a year was barely any time at all. How could they be expected to move so quickly? Assuming, of course, they were ever able to escape from this building and what it'd done to their minds.*

...I still think it has value. But it doesn't have to be done right away.

[armoured]

[He gives a hollow sort of laugh.]

If we manage to get through this, they can punish me as much as they want.

*Manny smiles a bit, though there's barely any feeling to it.*

Do you...want me to leave you alone or want to talk?

*Honestly he's not sure if he wants to be alone or talk to others himself.*

...I want to be left alone.

[He doesn't really know either, but he knows he doesn't want to talk. Better to brood alone than subject someone else to it.]
