I was insane, you moron. And anyway, I'm glad we got info. That was a valuable exercise. It doesn't stop me feeling like crap that nine people died. [He's counting Kid because of course he is.]

Insanity just brings out the truth in folks. It amplified what was already there. Trust me, Doc, I can smell my own and you've never been far off. That's why it's so cute so many people here respect you.

Any idea how they'd have responded if I'd proposed the tablet idea? One or two deaths mighta happened if I'm being generous.

But it wasn't one or two was it? You killed nine. Over half a dozen. Sure no court is gonna convict you of first degree murder but I still say that you created a short series of events that resulted in numerous deaths. You caused deaths, mate. There's a word for that.

It's "kill".

[House crawls away to the back of his cell and curls himself into a corner. Joker isn't entirely wrong. He hates that he isn't entirely wrong.]

I'm not like you. [It's muttered to himself. Because his sanity slippage had revealed just how close they really were. House might not have gone on a killing spree, but he'd been happy to encourage people to commit suicide in the name of science. How is it that much different? No. That's stupid. He's not a mass murderer.]

I want life to have meaning. You just wanna end it.

[Joker snaps. There are days he wishes he didn't believe that. Sometimes he looks up at the sky and catches himself daring to hope that life as people seem to know it isn't all there is. Those moments are fleeting.]

That's why you're miserable. You chase answers but that one there, that's you chasing something that doesn't exist. Or do you think a bunch of carbon chains kicking it a little early or a little late really makes a difference?
