It's not the first time House has done it. It hurts, but Royce is trying very hard not to let that show. He snorts a little, though.

"Last wish." A beat. "It'll be your first last wish, here."

He wraps his fingers around the bars, holding tightly. He doesn't want to sit in silence, really. It takes him a second to continue. "And at least you know what House is capable of right off."

"Yeah. I kind of guessed, but good to get the confirmation live and in person." He shrugs. "At least his type generally stick to a pretty predictable pattern of shitty behavior."

It doesn't make him happy to have to deal with someone like that, but at least he knows what to expect. It's almost like being home again.

That second point? Well. Not much he can say about that.

"Well, I've had at least a little practice at it, at least. People keep telling me it happens here, a lot, so other than doing my best not to die, not really much I can do about it." He picks idly at a corner of his torn nail, chewed down to the quick by repeated ripping. "Kinda makes things easy, in a weird way."

Royce is quiet for a couple of seconds.

"You're not wrong," he mutters. "Just hope you don't get to the point where you're actively wishing for it."

Rhys just gives Royce a sidelong look with weary blue eyes.

"They say there's nothing like a change of scenery to cheer you up, right? So here's hoping."

Snort.

"I doubt prison is what whoever came up with that saying had in mind, but your optimism is impressive."

Not so much optimism, as much as 'not like I had anything else better to do on a Friday night anyway'.

Really? You had nothing better to do than be imprisoned and eventually tortured? A rough social life, to be sure.

Yeah, my life is kind of funny like that.

[He's not even sure at this point if he's being honest, an asshole, or both. Probably a little of both, if he stopped to think about it, but self-pity comes and goes lately.]

Not much to do about it now, anyway, but if I get any ideas about getting out, I'll let you know?

Same goes for you. [ Royce murmurs. He's a dickhead, sure, but he probably won't just leave people here, if he finds a way out. Probably. ]

[Rhys just makes a small sound of agreement. For the time being, they aren't going anywhere, but they'll see what happens. And in the meantime, he'll save his strength and keep watching.]
