Could be worse, honestly.

[ Being left alone is one of the nicer things that can happen while imprisoned, unless the idea is starvation. And great, now that's in his head. ]

It will be. This is just the start. [ Because calm things like this, where they're not alone, clean and in prison cells with heating - this not going to last long. ]

Yeah.

[ Royce is probably the first to hear the defeat in his voice. There's no way to win this, no way to escape. He'll keep trying, but he can already tell its futile. ]

Sorry you're here, Royce.

[bywolves]

[ There's a long pause, and then Royce sighs. ]

Sorry you're here, Gabriel. [ Solidarity. ]

[ Gabriel decides to leave it at that. ...of course, he's still a little manic, so he comes back before too long. ]

Hey, Royce? Not sure if you can manage it right now, but maybe you should try to sleep some. Before- you know, whatever it is.

[ Maybe he'd get really lucky and sleep through it. ]

I've been trying to meditate, but it's looking like it's not gonna happen.

[ Between the Joker's shrieking and House being an ass, it's pretty difficult. ]

Before the probable torture? [ Royce asks dryly. He's on the floor, curled up against the bars with his eyes closed. ] I'd rather be awake when whatever it is comes for us.

[ A beat, and this is really only because Royce considers Gabriel a friend and he doesn't want him to have to deal with the mania on his own: ] Talk to me.

[ Sylar lets out a long, relieved breath. ]

I was hoping you'd sleep through it, or maybe people would think you're dead already and overlook you. But probably not, huh?

You know, I don't even want to talk? Everyone can hear- I can't have any reasonable conversations with anyone. But I still feel like I should or something. At least it's not worse yet.

Is it bad if I say I can handle what they're going to throw at us, but this waiting... I hate the waiting. If nothing ever happens and we're stuck here forever- that would be the worst, I think.

[bywolves]

[ Royce snorts at that first part - sorry, it isn't funny, he just thinks it's negative likely that he's going to get out of being subjected to whatever it is that's waiting for them. If anything, he'll be first, with his luck. ]

Part of that is the mania. [ Royce says, quieter. ] But you're not wrong. I can handle whatever it is that's coming fine, I just want it over with.

[ Yeah, okay, so it's very unlikely any of that would work, but a man can dream, right? ]

Yeah, waiting for it just gets your imagination going. Even when they almost killed me in that lab back home, it was still better than waiting for them to cart me off.

At least I'm not all drugged up this time, I guess. That was how they were suppressing my power. Too many sedatives and even my control goes out the window.

[ Royce resists the urge to say we sort of are regarding the nanomachines, just barely. Instead, he sighs out slow. ]

Wonder if there's a way to just die before whatever it is that's going to kill us horribly gets here. [ Royce says absently. ] Wishful thinking.

You know, I'd usually tell you to quit with that, but- yeah. Sort of wondering myself. Don't think we can use anything in here...
