But what really gets to him is Sherlock.
This is the second time. And it's so much worse.]
Sherlock? Seen Sherlock?
[He doesn't want to show the world he can't help but speak like an imbecile, but he needed to know. He was desperate for any scrap of information. He can't get through to him, but maybe something is stopping him from being able to use his tablet. Or he didn't get one. Or he couldn't speak. Obviously he knew that very well may be a possibility, considering what his own current problem seemed to be.]

Ex--exper--
[He can't say it. Blast.]
Test. Killed Sherlock. He ate chip. Ghost.
[He thought John wasn't daft enough to think he really meant a ghost. Maybe. He also neglected to say how he himself died. He could only claim he'd gone mad with grief, because it was stupid. Desperate and horrified, upset and not thinking clearly, he'd made a stupid decision. Like an ordinary person.
To be fair, he didn't quite feel like he was back at baseline, either. It'd taken him several dry retches and a long time to steel himself up again to even touch the tablet. Every memory that he had of that night made him choke back gasps, like he couldn't breathe. He was still faintly trembling, too.
Maybe side effects of the whole being dead thing. He was fine.
He wasn't fine.]

[Just. Jesus. And he hasn't come back, yet. It's not been that long, but he hasn't come back. And there's no telling if everyone will be as 'lucky' as House. Anxiety begins to claw at the back of his mind. If he'd been there, if he'd gotten to Sherlock sooner, he could have stopped this. He could have stopped all of this hurting him, like he did with America.]
I can't-
[It's just cut off as John hangs up.]

[He'd spoken to Castiel. There was something about the man that felt familiar.]
He was a friend of yours?
I'm sorry.

[It's an odd question but he feels like anything he says about his sorrow for her loss would feel empty. Maybe he can at least focus her mind on something other than pure grief, at least for a little while.]
