[network] @LELRIC; SNOWSHOES AND SUPPLIES; Day 020
A: Network (Video); 11am - Open
[A lot has happened over the last few days, and it's no wonder that everyone is feeling ragged and stressed. Al knows that their worries aren't over, there are still monsters around and they've all been injected with god knows what again. He knows that they're trapped, their clues are dwindling, and they seem no closer to answers, but...
But he also knows that focusing on the negatives will just lead everyone into a spiral of panic and fear, they have to keep hope and determination going strongly if they're going to get out of here. So he's going to turn on the video function, possibly for the first time for many people, to make a small how-to video. The tablet is propped up a short distance away in a snow bank so that Al's entire armour frame can be shown.]
A while ago a really smart friend of mine mentioned snowshoes, but I haven't been able to do anything about it until now. It seems to be getting harder to move around here, and the conditions aren't letting up, so making something as simple as this might help save lives. I thought... I thought I would show you how. I've not made any before, but the principle is easy enough.
[He holds up two logs that he found a while ago, cut and planed down to size over many nights to make two huge paddles with criss-cross holes in.]
If you can find anything around, it should be easy to make snowshoes. You need a large surface area, that's to help distribute your weight and keep you from sinking into the snow, and to try and keep them as flat and thin as possible. If you can't make snowshoes, then maybe something long and thin could help you make skis!
[He ties on his wooden shoes with a necktie and a strip of bandage, before giving the camera a big thumbs up.]
See? Easy!
B: Network (Voice); 9pm - Open
[After the slightly more light-hearted instructional video of earlier, Al takes time after lockdown to address more serious issues.]
I know that a lot of people have been talking about maps recently. I've been making one myself, and I've gathered the maps that other people have made, and put them all in one place. You can see them, uh... here.
[There's a pause, before Al manages to upload the document to the network. He's still not a pro at this technology, but after twenty days, he's a lot better than he was. He knows he promised to tell Stiles about any supplies he found, but he thinks it's important enough that everyone should know.]
The convenience store further to the east is the one that's stocked with food. I've been to both, and that one has had large quantities of supplies both times I've passed through. I propose that we try to build a base in the houses immediately surrounding there. After that, we can take turns carrying supplies to more outlying houses so that, in time, every house will have a cache of supplies... not to mention we'll be able to map out the area and look for more clues at the same time.
Using the different maps that people have made, hopefully you should be able to find the store I'm talking about, but don't push yourselves too hard. It's better to get here in five days safely, than rush and get caught out at night in three... okay?

that bit is interesting, though. ] Have they? I know of the video of the school.

[He hates this stupid futuristic technology.]
I still don't really understand what it is at all, I've never seen a bit of plastic that could store information.

After inserting he card into the tablet, you should be able to access and save to it. It is wondrous what modern technology has achieved.

[He fumbles the SD card out of his bag of things and inserts it into the tablet, causing a lot of scratchy metal noises on the screen and casing.]

[He has massive metal fingers, not that Klaus knows this unless he saw the video earlier in the day, and they're not made for handling this delicate technology.]
Are you sure this is safe?
no subject
Perhaps it's safer to wait for someone with ample dexterity. [ said matter-of-fact, without any offense meant. though lbr klaus isn't worried about al's feelings, so it wasn't said with those in mind either way. ] I suppose you can't remove the armor?
no subject
O-Of course I can, I'm just, uh, not allowed to. It's part of my alchemy training, but it really doesn't affect my dexterity that much. I'm just not used to this technology, that's all.
i have never wanted klaus to be nicer to anyone in the 4 years i've played him
hahaha poor Klaus
[He is equal parts fascinated and irritated with the tablet, even after nearly a month.]
I never even imagined this kind of thing could exist. I've been taking lessons from Tadashi, he knows a lot about electronics, but I'm still far from an expert.
hahaha poor al, because i'm not gonna stop him

[He sounds just a little resigned, nobody here seems to be alchemists other than him and his brother.]
[OOC: I am sorry for making you wait for my reply. I was unavoidably away. I will understand if you wish to drop this thread with no hard feelings, but I am happy to carry on too.]

I know a thing or two. Though its study has fallen out of favor for the modern chemist. There are still a few practitioners, however. [ get it? because witches are practitioners of magic? omg i can't deal with how funny he's not. ]
ooc: no worries again! i definitely would love to continue

[His voice is warming up, clearly this is a topic that he's very fond of and can capitulate about for hours.]
Alchemy where I'm from in Amestris is a proper scientific branch of study, it involves the use of transmutation circles and the power of tectonic plates to deconstruct and then reconstruct almost anything!

[He's not arrogant in his abilities, but neither is he overly modest. He knows that Ed and himself are pretty renowned as alchemists.]
We've been studying alchemy ever since we were really little and we found some old alchemy books in our Father's study.
